Oh, that's disappointing.

I've got a question too, if you don't mind: did Jaco interact with Goku?

That scene in Toyotaro's manga where magenta ssjg Gokû is seen as a special effect kind of thing behind Gokû when he's flying at Whis--is that manga-only or does magenta ssjg Gokû appear in the movie?
No magenta ssjg Goku at all. The movie is pretty unapologetic in assuming you've seen Battle of Gods and doesn't retread many of it's story points. Not visually, at least.
My heart she breaks. Image
The disappointment is strong, but thank you for letting me know.
This is not quite the same feeling of upset those whose characters don't appear in the movie at all are feeling, but yeah, I do feel some level of upset/disappointment in this movie now. I feel cheated.
At least Toyotaro gave something in the manga.

That magenta lightning on the poster was a cruel joke then. Image

*Hopes the Gokû and Vegeta interactions better be fantastic to make up for this. They better be inside-Buu-tier awesome!* Image

I knew I probably wasn't going to buy the limited edition this time anyway, but this solidifies it. No extra money from me. I'm buying the regular blu-ray.

Shoot...you know, now that I think about it...I don't think he does. They're in the same location and most of the Z fighters interact with him, but not Goku. Jaco is pretty fantastic though.

I don't know why, but I find it hilarious that Goku and Nozawa have their right hands on top for the Kamehameha, while Schemmel is the opposite. Even in the performing of the technique, they are divided. xD

GotenZ1 wrote:The event was fun, but felt very disorganized once they opened the doors to the theater. It felt like the hosts were given no instructions and they had to improvise. Things ran a little late and they only had time for one question during the Q & A. I really wish I could have heard more from Nozawa and Yamamuro (although he did give a shout out to the entire animation crew, which was nice).

The heads of Toei animation and Shueshia were also present and spoke to the crowd out front the theater. Nothing too interesting, just the usual "Happy to be here" type of thing. Still cool though.

Funny story, I went to the bathroom and Sean Schemmel walked in after me follow by (I think) Christopher Ayres. Schemmel immediately shouted "SO WE MEET AGAIN FREEZA!" and then they both talked shop a bit. It was pretty entertaining.
Uuuuhhhh, so jealous! Sounds like it was an awesome occasion. Almost surreal, it truly sounds like a "world premiere" of sorts, even if it's not really the film's first screening. I feel like whenever something massive happens to this franchise, I always have to do this perspective sort of thing. I mean, if you were to go back in time to, say, 2008 and tell everyone on this forum that, "there are two new DBZ movies coming in the years 2013 and 2015, the latter of which will be screened, subtitled-only(!), at a red carpet event in L.A. Oh, and Tadayoshi Yamamuro and Masako Nozawa will be there, along with a whole bunch of other people from Toei and Shueisha." I think you're account would be banned on the spot. I just can't get over how big of an event they've turned these movies into.

Oh, and I also have a question. :P What was the crowd like during the movie? Did any scenes get a particularly large reaction? Was there any confusion over Jaco that you could sense? Oh, and did people stick around for the scene during the end credits?

I can't believed we waited a year to watch BOG in theatres. I want to see this one now, damn it! Looking at the photos from the event put a huge smile on my face. I swear Nozawa never changes. :)

He doesn't really DO anything in this particular scene, but his dialogue between him and Freeza is a great moment in the movie. It's a running joke through the whole film that nobody believes that Beerus actually exists and/or he met the Z fighters.

Kinda disappointed that Jaco and Goku don't interact - you'd think Goku would wonder who the heck he was - but cool that apparently lots of others do get to interact with him.

So now that more people have seen it - since we actually did get a scene of 18 shaving Kuririn's head, do we actually get a look at his hair beforehand? I'm curious if it's his BOG hair or not.

The crowd was great! However, there must have been at least 50, maybe 100 empty seats. I don't really get why that happened and I was afraid it would be a weak crowd because of it. Thankfully, everyone was on the same page and I think very reactive to the movie. Everyone cheered at the logos in front of the film and were right on board with all the jokes. Jaco got some cheers when he arrived and any confusion as to who he was was wiped away by how funny and entertaining he was. My friend next to me didn't know his whole backstory and still enjoyed him.

Pretty much every fan moment hit. Kuririn shaving his head. Tienshinhan commenting that he told Yamcha and Chiaotzu to stay behind. There are many many more including a familiar ringtone (not sure if anyone brought that up yet. Apologies, I have not read through the past hundred pages of the forum since I was avoiding spoilers since I got my tickets).

It's brief, but we definitely do. He takes his helmet off after catching some crooks and then the next scene is him talking with 18. She shaves his head shortly after :) great moment!

So... I gotta ask...

What all does Krillin get to do in the movie? Do we see him shave his head or is it just a jump to after? What's he say to his family? etc.

Inquiring minds and all that.

Thanks for answering. Sounds a lot like my experiences with BOG last year. Sitting with a crowd is half the fun when seeing these movies in theatres, especially when you consider the amount of fan-service. :D

Interesting that there were empty seats, considering the screening was supposedly sold out months in advance. I guess they wanted to limit the number of people present for whatever reason. Maybe they wouldn't have been able to handle the crowds?

Oh, and I believe the ringtone moment was mentioned briefly a few pages back.

Jaco doesn't interact with Kakarot!? Tights does not even get a mention, a lot of characters are nowhere to be seen, Freeza just got a terrible fourth form with a new color, the new form of Kakarot and Vegeta is terrible, let alone its name.

Fuck this movie. :silent: Geez, it's filled with fan-service since its very early existence.
