Herms wrote:The fact that the ridiculous power inflation is presented so earnestly makes me just roll my eyes and snicker. Like with Freeza, where he starts off over 10 times stronger than all his henchmen except Ginyu (because...well, just because), then we find out he can transform and get even more powerful, and then he reveals he can transform two more times, before finally coming out with the fact that he hasn't even been using anywhere near 50% of his power. Oh, and he can survive in the vacuum of space. All this stuff is just presented as the way Freeza is, without even an attempt at rationalizing it, yet the tone dictates we're supposed to take all this silly grasping at straws as thrilling danger. So I guess I don't really take the power inflation in the Boo arc seriously, but I don't take the power inflation in earlier arcs seriously either, so there's no net loss of seriousness. I think a silly story presented as serious is harder to accept than a silly story presented as silly.

Havent they always been, as soon as things look bad Frieza always starts using dirty tactics and planet destroying, its what he's always fallen back on when he's outmatched. The only one to be somewhat decent was Ginyu and that only went so far.
But in the case of Gohan getting taken out, thats really his own fault, he knows how strong Freeza is now and what he's like. He shouldn't have let his guard down. Still thats one hell of a feat to be able to almost kill Gohan with just one punch, it dosent matter what form he's in.
Re: Official On-Going DBZ 2015 Movie Thread: "Resurrection '
Don't use the Buu Saga to defend this movie, not with me as I consider most of the Buu Saga to be the worst DB material ever done by anyone whether it be Toriyama or Toei. But, just for arguments sake, even the previous sagas had plausible scenarios for how they achieved forms (except Gohan's which is indeed awful), Goku was dead for seven years and spent all that time training with beings of comparable strength without any distractions to hold him back like a living body, a family or threats to worry about it. Not the same as Freeza doing.... something for 4 MONTHS alive then being as strong as a God without God Ki.Baggie_Saiyan wrote:Okay let me put it this way so far I have not seen on single person say they didn't like the film, and I was on twitter and various other social media for a good few hours yesterday. You are also ignoring the fact the Dragonball is all about the fights and character interactions it's not known for having complex or though-provoking plots. Why does it matter all of sudden Freeza gets strong in 4 months, when Goku randomly appears with SS3 with zero exploration on how he achieved it or Vegeta goes off to space and does god knows what and suddenly can become a Super Saiyan. Or Gohan sitting down for a long time is now suddenly a match for Buu?ekrolo2 wrote:
I seriously doubt "everyone" who's seen it loved it as much as you make it out to be, sure the vast majority may like it but everyone? Not a chance, also while I can't formulate an opinion on the movie itself (yet) I can formulate one on its various plot points, most of which are horrendous to me and I seriously doubt can be fixed by anything short of a 1) total re-write which won't happen because the thing is done or 2) a theoretical extended cut.
As for Goten and Trunks not being there, they are awful in field and generally pretty stupid, they have one thing and thats fusion once that where's off they are nothing. They are more of a liability than anything, Gohan leaving them behind was smart.
Vegeta had almost the same base power as Goku even after he returned from Yardrat on top of 3 years of training AND the gravity chamber, with all of those facts and his insane determination it stands to reason for why he can get strong enough for SSJ. Not the same as Freeza. In-fact, Freeza's whole thing could've worked perfectly if they stuck with Beerus sleeping for 3 years thing, sure its not as much time as I'd like but 3 years plus him spying & coyping the techniques for training from the Earthlings is far more plausible than 4 months of.... something.... BOOM I'M GOD LEVEL BITCH! as it is in this movie.
Also, I'm really sick of the whole "DB is like this so accept it or f*ck off* defense. I know what DB is and for a long time its worked for me, but I feel like its just become an quick and easy excuse to shoot down anything outside the norm. Why shouldn't a DB product try to do something different? Hell, the original BoG script sounded different and fascinating as hell, I would love to get a DB story like it. But no, the series is like this so it must stay like this forever is what the majority feel. Even though potentially risky, more outside the box stories could put out some genuinely great stories, look at all the different interpretations American comics have, they've spawned some of the best Batman, Superman, Spider-Man,... stories the character will ever know. Why can't DB get something outside the norm too? At least just once for experiments sake instead of being in this "Z-Mode" its been stuck in since the Saiyan Saga.
When someone tells you, "Don't present your opinion as fact," what they're actually saying is, "Don't present your opinion with any conviction. Because I don't like your opinion, and I want to be able to dismiss it as easily as possible." Don't fall for it.

So it had to do with Piccolo getting tired?! Called it right away!Kendamu wrote:The idea that Piccolo fighting hundreds of guys, no matter how weak they were or how smart he fought, was still a huge factor in the fight. Shisame was fresh so he had the advantage from a stamina standpoint. Having someone who actually studied martial arts on the film probably had something to do with making multiple opponents and stamina a factor in this fight where it might not have been considered in previous stories.

Gohan still felt the need to go super saiyan so Shisame isn't a push over, he's still probable on equal footing with piccolo in terms of power.FortuneSSJ wrote:So it had to do with Piccolo getting tired?! Buu arc Piccolo (who is much stronger than 100% Freeza was) getting tired from fighting fodder, and not even that many of them (1000), doesn't make much sense, but ok...
Logically, he could just shoot one ki blast and kill 100 of them. Repeat 10 times and its all done. Why should 10 blast of the level required to destroy this type of fodder tire him significantly?
I guess people watching the film are just supposed to go with it.

Dont forget their trying not to kill any of them, that makes things a least at little harder.rereboy wrote:Buu arc Piccolo (who is much stronger than 100% Freeza was) getting tired from fighting fodder, and not even that many of them (1000), doesn't make much sense, but ok...

Re: Official On-Going DBZ 2015 Movie Thread: "Resurrection '
Not really. He could just do a non-fatal blast, like a Ki shockwave or a Kiai. So, instead of killing 100 in one blast, he would knock out 100 in one blast. And he would spend even less energy with those attacks because they would be weaker than the fatal ones.Lord Frieza wrote:Dont forget their trying not to kill any of them, that makes things a least at little harder.rereboy wrote:Buu arc Piccolo (who is much stronger than 100% Freeza was) getting tired from fighting fodder, and not even that many of them (1000), doesn't make much sense, but ok...

Everyone was fighting, it's not like anyone had the time to pull out an Excel spreadsheet and calculate power level stuff (which by the way are off-topic).rereboy wrote:Buu arc Piccolo (who is much stronger than 100% Freeza was) getting tired from fighting fodder, and not even that many of them (1000), doesn't make much sense, but ok...

I'm just happy to see the heroes fighting Frieza's army. I always wanted to see that.
I just wish Frieza had more stronger underlings like Shisame, I'm not asking for a fight that would grind the story to a hault just a few quick one on one fights to let it end with a bang.
