Funny how we hear Yamcha being retired and Krillin not training, but only Gohan has the side effects of not training. It was mentioned Yamcha retired and Krillin stopped training and grew his hair out.

It seems like Gohan has lost his Elder Kaioshin powerup. It doesn't seem likely that Piccolo would live his life without any form of physical or spiritual discipline, but maybe he has taken more to meditation than actual physical training.
AT confirmed Goku, Vegeta and Piccolo always train.
Link?

Anyway, I don't doubt they always used to train, and back then they often trained together. But without a sparring buddy, how much training can you really do? Piccolo doesn't have the gravity room like Vegeta had. Tenshinhan has managed to do relatively well on his own, but he's still nowhere near the level of Piccolo as a fighter (although his ki is very impressive). Anyway, I believe that was true before, but I'm suggesting that Pan's presence may have changed something in Piccolo. Besides, you can be "training" and not really fighting (meditation).

It was an interview a few years back. I don't have the link.

Besides even if Piccolo doesn't train he's not even close to being old enough to actually get weaker by age.

I think this is the second or third time I have to link for someone today... Come on, you are on Kanzenshuu forum, guys. None of us here would try to lie for one's benefit. If you see someone saying something and you want to check for yourself, please search for the interview on the "translations" section, it is all there.

Goku, Vegeta, and Piccolo train; Gohan studies.

No, it's the other way around. You don't make a claim and say "Toriyama said this" without posting your source. There is a lot of Dragon Ball misinformation out there on the web, things can be remembered incorrectly, different things that Toriyama says can be interpreted in different ways sometimes, etc.

Anyway, thanks for the link.

Krillin doesn't have much to lose from not training. It's not like he has transformations like Gohan does.

Point is we don't hear him get weaker, get rustier, or anything like that. 7 years later and Gohan punches out robbers with SSJ. Also Ultimate isn't even a form. It's a potential unlock.
What bothers me about that is...what does he study? What does he major? What does he do now that he's around 20. College? Work? What does he even do?

Gohan's golden fighter or whatever it was called was just for show, he obviously didn't need SSJ to beat those guys.

Anyway, Krillin was raised as a monk and has lived that way up until he met 18, so I'm sure he has a good life hygiene even if he retires from fighting. Gohan, on the other hand, I could almost see getting overweight if it weren't for his Saiyan genes. Besides, Krillin has probably resumed training in this film anyway since he is a policeman.

We know that, we just know 7 years later and SSJ was no big deal. 5 years later and it's still no big deal. Another 1 or 2 and suddenly it's all he's got?

Gohan trained with Piccolo for a year. Piccolo and Goku for 3 years. Then trained with Goku for about a year. Not as long as Krillin, but 5 years of training doesn't just suddenly go away. Rusty skills sure, but to get so much weaker is ridiculous.

Another reason I hate the family man study thing people always say. We know jack shit about it. It's an excuse to remove him from plot, more than to build character. I know nothing about his family life, what he does for a living, or anything because less fucks could be given by the creative team.

So Naturalist? Geologist? Is that his goal? Cause that's just anime tidbits that I don't think are really expanded upon. Even in GT years later we get nothing on the subject of what he does. Til we get confirmation, I take that with a grain of salt. One thing I did like was him writing "Ground Breaking Science" which I think should be something that happens.

I think Gohan's a 50s style scientist. In that he studies all fields at once

I can see that as an excuse as well, but hey... Come on, Son Gohan shone so many times during the series. I don't know what has left to build on him, sincerely. Focusing on showing his normal life is... Well, kinda boring, that requires his own spin-off, maybe. Retiring Son Gohan the way "they" are doing at least it's not as pathetic and stupid as one character we both know well...

In my opinion Gohan's character is done. He is established and we don't need another Yamcha or Chaos.

Wait do Gohan have a job  . I understand Videl probably lives off of Satan's fame and Gohan has Ox King but what exactly does Gohan do? I can see Videl as a house wife or a fitness teacher.

Do Great Saiyaman get money for his efforts?

Myself and others have already stated what can be done. He's one of the only people who cares more about the earth, it's people, and peace, rather than just fighting for fun. Someone who is a stark contrast to Goku and Vegeta. Someone who for once in his life could think use that brain of his he supposedly has. We admire people who do things they don't want to, when it's for the greater good. It shows selflessness. Instead we have someone who lazily just let's everyone down and waits for his dad to save everyone. He's almost full circle back to how he was as a 4 year old. At this rate he'll lose SSJ and forget all his fighting skills so then he is full circle and right back where he started.

Yes they did retire Yamcha

Technically, it's never said he stopped training. It's said he gave up fighting. He's keep training if only to keep himself up to snuff, he just doesn't push himself as much anymore.

Tien gave up fighting too, but I don't see anyone saying he quit training.
