RoF > BoG for me because Vegeta actually feels useful in it and it takes itself more seriously than BoG did, but it's still missing the Toriyama charm I felt from DB until Majin Buu of Z.Vegitofaxx wrote:So for people who've seen both. BoG vs RoF?

How much of info on the original BoG script is available? I know certain things like Gods design and Beerus' original design & shtick but are there any concrete story elements known or?

I think most, if not all of it should be covered in the movie's guide on the main site:ekrolo2 wrote:How much of info on the original BoG script is available? I know certain things like Gods design and Beerus' original design & shtick but are there any concrete story elements known or?

Hey guys I got a question about the funimation battle of gods home release. Does the DVD version have the extended version of the movie or is it only on the DVD/Blu Ray combo pack?

It's only one disc.JEFFMAN219 wrote:Hey guys I got a question about the funimation battle of gods home release. So I was watching the BoG English dub, and in the scene where Goku was just regaining consciousness after losing to Beerus the first time, he said something like "I'd never thought there was a Saiyan that powerful". Is that a mistake in the dub? Because that line really doesn't make any sense in that situation.

Re: Official On-Going DBZ 2013 Movie Thread: "Battle of Gods
Well, a little later he says "Beerus called it a Super Saiyan God...", so chances are what FUNi's scriptwriters were referring to that. Which come to think of it, would make a lot more sense in the theatrical cut when he doesn't go off on another tangent about how "I'd need to fuse with Vegeta to become strong enough to beat him"... But yeah, pretty sure the original "I never thought there could be anyone that powerful"-line was referring to Beerus, so this would be a mistranslation.Polyphase Avatron wrote:So I was watching the BoG English dub, and in the scene where Goku was just regaining consciousness after losing to Beerus the first time, he said something like "I'd never thought there was a Saiyan that powerful". Just wondering, did anyone watch this film with someone who's not into the series or has never seen it before? How did they respond to it? Given that it was an actual movie that was screened in theatres, I'm curious as to how non-fans would've received it.

So I've just bought the DVD version of Battle Of Gods and I was disappointed see that none of the special behind the scenes features were included in this set but oh well. At least it only has the extended version of the movie.

Re: Official On-Going DBZ 2013 Movie Thread: "Battle of Gods
Well, I finally saw Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods! I'm here to share my thoughts on this movie!
-Full series recap. Nice!
-Animation is top notch. It's really fast and modern looking, but retains the DB feel!
-Beerus the Destroyer is a great antagonist, specifically because he isn't a villain. It's all part of his job as the God of Destruction.
-Whis is really fun, too. His dynamic with Lord Beerus is interesting. Also, Pudding and Sushi!
-The humor in this film is a lot faster and more insane than it has ever been since even the original Dragon Ball, in my opinion! I haven't actually laughed this much since Ninja Murasaki got the Power Pole up his ass.
-Norihito Sumitomo's music in this is really nice. It's done by a full orchestra for the most part. There's one instance where it kind of has a Faulconer feel to it, when Goku arrives at the party and confronts Beerus. There's also a track at the beginning of the battle between Goku and Beerus that sounds like it's straight out of a Ghibli movie. On average, how much of this music is reused in Kai, or rather specifically International Kai?
-I love everything about this! Pilaf Gang, Vegeta's Bingo Song, Oolong failing at Rock Paper Scissors (or Paper Scissors Rock as they called it for some reason), MY BULMA (including Schemmel's impression),
-The Trunks / Mai pairing is adorabe. Not gonna lie. It's a little cheesy, but it is SO CUTE.
-Uh oh, Videl is preggers. YAY Pan! Also, Great Saiyaman is nice to see again!
-The voice cast is better than ever, here! All the returning VAs totally own the roles now! I noticed notable improvements with Old Kai, Vegeta, Piccolo, Videl, Goten, and Trunks.
-The recasts are decent, too. I've heard Monica Rial's Bulma in Curse of the Blood Rubies, but she sounded a bit different there, playing the teenage version. Colleen Clinkenbeard plays a much younger sounding Mai, understandably. Adorable. I don't really have an opinion on Puar or Chiaotzu as they sound the same. Bulma's dad doesn't get a whole lot of lines, but he sounds fitting enough.
-There's a cool Insert Song and a remix of the first Japanese opening from Z as the ending. The songs are in English. There's even a disclaimer at the DVD startup. Copyright is so weird sometimes. I could barely make out any words either.
-This is now my favorite DB movie, with Wrath of the Dragon at 2nd. I am REALLY impressed on every front here. This makes me REALLY excited to see all the other new stuff!

Not gonna urge you to watch the Japanese or anything, Funimation is much more experienced than they were and are doing a great job dubbing the series nowadays, but having heard (in your GT thread) that you plan to watch everything in Japanese someday, I will say that you can expect a few treats there...the Japanese version of the insert song (Hero's Flow) is absolutely awesome, there's a cool, if brief, post-credits bonus thing (though maybe that was in the dub too? I forget), and I kind of can't decide which Birus voice actor I like better...I think the Japanese one nails the comedy a bit better, the English guy does the serious moments better.Valerius Dover wrote:Well, I finally saw Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods! ^The thing at the end of the credits where Goku does the Kamehameha while the manga page shots go by? Oh, and even if I see it in Japanese, I wouldn't get the Japanese versions of the songs.

I disagree, especially when it comes to screams. They're both good, but I have to say I think the japanese actor is better overall in every important aspect.Captain Space wrote:the English guy does the serious moments better.
