SSJ4 Trunks, and SSJ Nappa

Discussion, generally of an in-universe nature, regarding any aspect of the franchise (including movies, spin-offs, etc.) such as: techniques, character relationships, internal back-history, its universe, and more.

SSJ4 Trunks, and SSJ Nappa

Post by Xyex » Mon Apr 12, 2004 2:13 pm

Right, I know Trunks never reached SSJ4 but some recent web surfing has led me to a few images that have brought up a question. What exactly do you think an SSJ4 Trunks would look like?

I've seen him with his normal color hair on his head and arms, with his normal color hair on his head and red hair on his arms, and with the black and red color scheme of Goku and Vegeta.

This is probably the only debatable SSJ form colorization since only Goku and Vegeta reached it and they already had black hair on thier heads.

As for SSJ Nappa... would he grow hair? Maybe not at SSJ but at least some fuzz at SSJ3 I'd think...

Thoughts, ideas?

SSJ Nappa would have his mustache turning gold and floating upward in a U shape. I bet that would really tickle his nose.

And then, if he'd turn SSJ2/3 it would shoot upwards and stab in his eyes. And then he'd be blind.

No no, his eyes would be protected from his protruding forehead brow! :D

If I had to guess, I would think Trunks would still have purple hair as a SSJ4, but I guess we'll really never know. As for Nappa turning SSJ, he wouldn't grow hair on his head. From what I understand (very little of) male pattern baldness is caused by the hair follicle dying.

Really? I thought it was. People who are balding lose exactly the same amount of hair follicles as everyone else. They just don't replace them at the same rate (or at all).

I don't know that much about it, but I think I remember reading somewhere that the follicle fills with oils and closes off, killing the hair, or something like that. That's why bald people have shiny scalps.

Says who? I'm guessing you're going off the Bardock movie where he's shown with some hair ontop, but that doesn't prove anything. Male pattern baldness occurs gradually, and their's about 20 years between that movie and Nappa's first appearance in the series.

Ya that's what all guys who are going bald say. :P

I think you're mixing Nappa up with Kuririn.

Reading several sites, including The Grand Line, it is apparent that he shaves his head by choice, as, remember, a Saiyan's hair never changes. And he is the only bald Saiyan we see, even after Vegeta gets up there in years...

Well, Veggie's hair does start to receed ever so slightly. Though you're right, his hair never reaches the sheer level of baldness as his bitchy dead sidekick.

Plus it's possible that Nappa took a mighty blast to the head like Recoom did. Remember that the planet that he, Vegeta and Radditz were on was too difficult for the three of them alone to conquer, which is why Radditz went to recruit Goku in the first place. Maybe he was only temporarily bald since it didn't have time to grow back in, and then Vegeta killed him. (I know a year went by, but remember that their pods put them in suspended animation)

This is true. In fact, the Bardock flashback in the manga only appeared in Jump after the special had aired on TV. Interesting, ain't it?

...And your point is? It's still the most realistic non-canon DBZ feature.

Most people I know except it as Canon. Including myself. I even read somewhere that Toriyama-sama liked it very much.

It's his very favourite "anime-only" DBZ episode actually.

If we're taking the Bardock special as "proof" that Nappa shaves his head (because we see him with hair, and a Saiyans hair never changes), then we also have to accept that Saiyans DO bald (since the Chibi Vegeta seen in the Bardock special clearly has a non-receeding hairline, unlike his regular series counterpart).

So using the Bardock special doesn't actually prove anything either way.

Listen to Liam on this folks. He's debated about hair on about a dozen threads on this point. He's become an expert. :D

In all seriousness though, I do agree with him.
