Goku and Vegeta with God Ki = Biologically Immortal?

Goku and Vegeta with God Ki = Biologically Immortal?

Post by SSJsambosoldier » Wed Apr 15, 2015 2:19 pm

So we have characters like Beerus, Whis, and Demigra who posses Godly Ki and they've lived for millions of millions of years to the point they are most likely biologically immortal and do not age(still suspect to unnatural death like being killed, etc)

Does this Mean Goku and Vegeta have possesed the ability of eternal life and youth?

I don't think so, your body becomes leaner and more youthful when you are a Super Saiyan God, but when it wears off your body goes back to normal. I think their bodies are the same, they've just breached a new power ceiling.

No way to know either way though really, but if you consider the DBO timeline to be canon, you'll know that Goku and Vegeta were suffering from old age come Age 801 so that would disprove that. That may not have been ATs idea though, so who can say...?

I think I'd prefer if they weren't, doesn't seem necessary or interesting to me.

I think they should logically be immortal since they're Gods like Beerus and Whis, but as others have stated, its not outside the realm of possibility for them to discard God Ki at some point in the new movies and choose to become mortal again.
When someone tells you, "Don't present your opinion as fact," what they're actually saying is, "Don't present your opinion with any conviction. Because I don't like your opinion, and I want to be able to dismiss it as easily as possible." Don't fall for it.

Are they gods though? I kind of was under the impression that they only became gods temporarily, they just acquired a power boost from that.

Given the things said in FnF and Goku's "Saiyan Beyond God" form, it seems to me that he has in-fact become an actual God instead of just a dude who has power comparable to one.

The both possibilities are relevant. Goku is a God now and he isn't in the same time. Goku can power on and off his God power with this SSGSS and have God power in Base too , but only when he needs it. It's not needed to stay forever in powered up , so Goku's body is not a Godly one everytime (maybe his Red God form was if it wasn't limited to use it).

Maybe their life-span was practically lengthened but that doesn't mean they immortal(won't die of natural cases like growing too old and have diseases due to that). Whis offered Goku the Job of next God of Destruction after Beerus dies, being that there isn't really any threat that could kill Beerus it can imply that Beerus can grow enough old to die.

Goku and Vegeta will still kick the bucket in their 70s and 80s, regardless if they God Ki. Beerus and Whis were literally born are deities meant to live for millions of years. Goku and Vegeta weren't. End of story.

Was he born a God? Given that Whis asks Goku if he'd like to be the next God of Destruction it seems far more likely that Beerus was once a mortal who ascended to Godhood.

If Sorbet could pierce Gokû's heart with that beam while he was ssjblue...they can probably be killed, but I guess the option for them to now unknowingly have super extended primes and lifespans is still on the table. Whatever Toriyama wants to do with it.

I think if Super Saiyan God had extended the Saiyans' lifespawn, Toriyama would have mentioned it in his interview in EoB, where he talked about the Saiyans' lifespawn.
James Teal (Animerica 1996) wrote:When you think about it, there are a number of similarities between the Chinese-inspired Son Goku and that most American of superhero icons, Superman. Both are aliens sent to Earth shortly after birth to escape the destruction of their homeworlds; both possess super-strength, flight, super-speed, heightened senses and the ability to cast energy blasts. But the crucial difference between them lies not only in how they view the world, but in how the world views them.

Superman is, and always has been, a symbol for truth, justice, and upstanding moral fortitude–a role model and leader as much as a fighter. The more down-to-earth Goku has no illusions about being responsible for maintaining social order, or for setting some kind of moral example for the entire world. Goku is simply a martial artist who’s devoted his life toward perfecting his fighting skills and other abilities. Though never shy about risking his life to save either one person or the entire world, he just doesn’t believe that the balance of the world rests in any way on his shoulders, and he has no need to shape any part of it in his image. Goku is an idealist, and believes that there is some good in everyone, but he is unconcerned with the big picture of the world…unless it has to do with some kind of fight. Politics, society, law and order don’t have much bearing on his life, but he’s a man who knows right from wrong.

Well, Kami offered Goku the role of God after the conclusion of the King Piccolo arc, and Kami was show to have lived for hundreds of years.

Has there ever been an immortal god in Dragon Ball, even the ones actually serving in that capacity?

It's implied that all of them from Kaioshin to planetary gods have unnaturally long lifespans, but ancillary material talks about new generations of Kaio being born, Whis implies that Beerus will die one day, etc.

All of the gods in Dragon Ball have been seemingly "normal" creatures given the title either because of their position or, as of BoG, certain abilities like godly ki.

Well. Kami offered Goku the role of God after the conclusion of the King Piccolo arc, and Kami was show to have lived for hundreds of years.
Kami was a Namekian after all, so I think his longevity was more due to that. Doesn't mean his predecessors wouldn't have gotten extended life spans but we never really see any prior to Kami (minus Garlic Jr Saga).

Nowhere is it even implied that God Ki grants immortality. We've no idea why Beerus and Whis have the type of lifespans (75+ million years) they do. Not sure why you even mentioned Demigra considering he's from a video game. And does anyone have the official subs for BoGs? Because I can swear Whis said "Should Beerus die", not when, which would suggest if somebody could eventually kill him, not that he would die naturally. If a guy has lived for more than 75 million years then I find it highly unlikely he's going to ever naturally kick the bucket.

Not to mention Goku and Vegeta aren't Gods in the way Beerus and Whis are. They're merely mortals with power comparable to Gods.

Well Demigra is a demon God which is confirmed he possesses God Ki and he is millions of years old, so I had to throw him in because he is the only one of the five confirmed characters who possesss Godly Ki . If Whis offered Goku to be the next Hakaioshin then maybe he is implying Goku is probably biologically immortal now that he has God Ki, or maybe Goku isn't but whis could give him something like the elixir that Master Roshi drank

I think you're referring to Eternal Youth. I'm sure that it's some sort of "gift" and a transformation isn't going to give them this. Honestly I hope Goku and Vegeta aren't "immortal." Dying in Dragon Ball doesn't seem that bad considering Heaven is way better than Earth. Goku and Vegeta could get to train for all eternity once they die.

Besides if they had eternal youth, it'd be forever till they saw their families again after their families passed away.

It begs the question really, how long does Beerus have left to live? Because it's all well and good for Whis to offer Goku the job. But if Beerus has another million years left of his life, Goku is going to be long dead before that time if he still has his the natural lifespan of a Saiyan. I would really like to know how/why Akira Toriyama would explain his reason for Whis saying this.

Kami believed that he could die of old age, so I'm gonna guess that godhood alone doesn't make one immortal.

It does make Whis offering the job to Goku a bit odd, though, if Goku wouldn't really live to keep the job very long. The fact that Whis even offered the job to Goku in the first place, though, indicates that Beerus isn't immortal, and since nobody around besides Whis would be capable of killing Beerus, it could imply that Beerus is close to reaching the end of his life.

I guess I always imagined there was some kind of work around that would take place for low-lifespan characters if they took up the title of Kami or Haikaishin in order to make them live significantly longer.
