Discussion regarding the entirety of the franchise in a general (meta) sense, including such aspects as: production, trends, merchandise, fan culture, and more.
First off does anyone know if the movie will get a nationwide release or a limited screening like BoG?
If so I think the movie will be a gigantic success considering BoG made 50 million worldwide imagine all the kids back then and the kids now who grew up with the dragon ball series come to watch the movie... I wouldn't be suprised if USA alone raked in more than twice that amount that BoG made worldwide. What do you guys think?
Nothing has been said yet of how the release will go. The only thing we know from FUNimation is that the movie will come out sometime in "Summer 2015." I hope it gets at least a larger release than Battle of Gods did, which it most likely will. I want more Dragon Ball Z and the only way to do that is to support these movie releases. Do I think it will get a standard nationwide release like most movies do? No. But I do think it will get a larger release than Battle of Gods did, similar to some indie movies that are release in theaters after an initial showing or so at film festivals.
I'm thinking it may get a release similar to The Perks of Being a Wallflower when it was initially announced to have a limited release. Maybe a few more than that since I forget how many theaters their initial announcement said it would be in.
I think I read somewhere that Toei is aiming for the movie to earn 4 billion yen.

I still haven’t lived down going, “Who the heck is Tao Pai-pai?” that one time I was talking with Ei’ichiro Oda-kun. But the fact that there are still people reading the series after all this time… All I can say is; “thank you.” Really, that’s all.

And that you also have IMMENSELY skewed and comically backwards priorities in what you think is most important and needed to make a good Dragon Ball story.
