BT2 in the UK

Post by goku 333 » Fri Nov 24, 2006 5:46 pm

I was just looking on IGN for the review of BT2 for the Wii, it all seems very good, but. It is said that the game was coming out in the UK on “December 31 2007” although all of the other countries are getting it January of next year in the latest. So is this just an error, or has the official UK date for BT2 not been announced. Because I hope we don’t have the repeat of having to wait for the Budokai games to come out for the Game Cube for a year? :?

I don't speak with any sort of authority, but there's lots of games on IGN that have "crazy" release dates like that. The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess for Wii-- one of THE most publicized games of this year-- was once listed as coming out in November of 2007 for Japan, and we all know the Japanese were never going to be waiting that long to get their hands on it if we were getting it in 2006.

Dates like that are more like placeholders. I suppose to them, it looks better than not having a date at all.

Don't get me wrong. IGN is a competent enough game informant-- but they're not perfect. Usually, I tend to take half of what they say with a grain of salt until it's confirmed by other sources as well.

Lemmy is right...

Having worked at a video store in the past, I can tell you that that's definately a placeholder date. If there isn't an official date, the computer will display the last day of the year. So chin up, I'm sure the UK will get it soon enough! :)

Hmm. So then a date like that isn't merely a peculiarity exclusive to online, then? Retail stores do this too? I had no idea. I suppose I like this better, since it makes all the sites and stores appear to be on the same wavelength as opposed to some of them making crazy guesses about the future that no one can substantiate.

Y'know, I might have to take back some of the things I've said about IGN. Hmm . . . nah.

I've seen other sites that say December 31 2006. I think it was just a typo because the dates above it and below it we're in 2007. Plus, remember that IGN is the company that said you'd be able to play the Japanese version of the game with the corect music. You can't spell ignorant without IGN.

That said, Gamefaqs says "TBA" for the European Wii release date, and Wiki agrees with IGN. So basically it's anyone's guess at the moment.

I don't think we'll have to wait a full year though, because back then the entire world had to wait a full year to see a certain Budokai appear on a Nintendo console. This time the two versions were developed pretty much side by side.

I'd say March at the latest. XD Mid-December at the soonest.

As far as I know BT2 isn't coming out until Q1 2007 since they have to finish up the foriegn translations. There's also the question of what voice languages we'll get.

But the PS2 version is out in Europe. >.>;; Surely they wouldn't have to re-translate the on-screen texts into german, french, spanish and so on for the Wii version.
