I remember!Johnny139 wrote:There was that Narrator speech after Vegeta went boom in the Buu saga. I forget it, but it ended with him saying "Thus ends Vegeta, proud Sayain Prince." It was really quite epic.
One of the Earth's greatest warriors has vanished in a blinding flash of light, having sacrificed himself for the sake of his loved ones. His name . . . was Vegeta, a proud Saiyan prince.
Or at least, something very close to that. It was a fine line on which for him to go out with.

DBZ Movie #4 (Lord Slug) dub had a couple of good dialogue moments.
Lord Slug: Rrrgh!... It's impossible to find good help! If you've come to apply for the soldier jobs, use the side entrance!
Goku (with Krillin): Thanks!... But no thanks!... We're both self-employed!
Krillin (about Lord Slug): Man!... This bozo's asking for it! Relax!... I've got this one! (flies toward Lord slug)
Goku: No!... Krillin!!... Wait!
Krillin: Ahhh!!... (Lord Slug smacks Krillin away)
Krillin (flying through the air): He's all yours Goku!...

I know we're supposed to be praising the dub here. I myself love the dub. But even I have to wonder what they were thinking when they came up with that one, or if they were thinking at all. Like, was Pauline Newstone trying to hold in her laughter when she was recording that line?Eclipse wrote:"These balls...give me something of joy I think. I want to caress them."
WTF?!

Most of my favorites have already been mentioned, but there was one dub line from movie 6 that I really liked.
Coola (upon seeing Vegeta): "A second Super Saiyan?"
Vegeta: "Second in order, perhaps, but by no means in stature; your fight is with me now."
I also really liked dub Vegeta's speech in the Boo Saga when he realized that Goku was better than him.

I think like many Tex Avery and old Looney Tunes, they probably figured kids would overlook it and not think naughty thoughts.Li'l Lemmy wrote:I know we're supposed to be praising the dub here. I don't remember it exactly, but it was from the new Uncut version of the Saiyajin Saga, right before Vegeta calls his spacepod back to him, I believe...the technicians were examining them and one of them said something to the effect of...
"Alright, let's hurry up and get these to the lab so we can cover it up and say they don't exist!!"
Something like that. It cracked me up. XD
And one thing I always felt the dub did SO much better than the Japanese version (probably the only time I'll ever say that XD) was during the beginning of the Buu Saga, at the Tenka'Ichi Budoukai when they ran the video of how Mr. Satan "defeated" Cell...I mean, in the Japanese version the comedy was basically just in the cheap effects and the costumes, but the dub "punched up" the dialogue, something I normally HATE...but in this case, it was SO riddiculous that it made the scene about a hundred times funnier. I remember taping that scene (I probably still have it somewhere XD), and thinking, "now if only they weren't saying 'Herr-KYOO-al', this might be the single greatest dub moment in all of DBZ!!" XD

To fittingly quote Bugs Bunny... "They don't know us very well, do they?"Super Sonic wrote:I think like many Tex Avery and old Looney Tunes, they probably figured kids would overlook it and not think naughty thoughts.

I remember this funny quote about Goku's hair in the Ocean dub of DBZ, I haven't seen it for a while... though I think it went something like this.
Goku: It was crazy in there and my hair is too long.
Bulma: Why dont you try using shampoo.
Goku: Cool thanx I really wanted to get rid of these lose ends.
Vegeta: I dont want to hear about kakarots hair problems

Hmm. Actually, I think that one went something more like this:
First . . .
Tenshinhan: (*reeling in pain*)
Yamucha: What was that? Sorry, but I don't speak pain.
Later . . .
Yamucha: (*reeling in pain*)
Tenshinhan: For someone who doesn't speak pain, you sound very fluent.
I love that line.

The point of the thread was to mention dub lines that we actually liked (especially ones we thought were better done than in the Japanese version), not to make fun of the lines we thought were bad.Ma Junior wrote:Did anybody mention "Krillin's in da house"? That was the worst sound that came out of my television.

Art, etc. links taken down for now. Will be updated at some point. I dunno.
