Re: Official On-Going DBZ 2015 Movie Thread: "Resurrection '
I never liked the descriptions of Super Saiyan God that made it out to be more like Kaio-ken than it really was, but I liked it once it was properly revealed. Pretty much the same with Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan here. I didn't like how bright and shiny the hair on the leaked keychains were at the time, but I figured I would like the actual animated version because I figured it would be a better shade of blue, and I was right. The movie's version isn't too bad, but I like Toriyama's light/ice blue coloration better than the more aqua shade of the film.
Freeza though? I like the design itself, but that specific coloration is not appealing. The shades seen in Xenoverse are better than the actual film (and way better than some of the figures), but it still could have used a better combination to begin with.

A lot of fans seemed to like Dragon Ball Absalon and the only thing that crossed my mind when the first episode was out, its how different visions people have of Dragon Ball World.

Oscar Award Frieza wins best design from the movie, took the spotlight from those Super Cyan dudes in all media apparently.
I got a question (I'm sorry if it already has been answered).
If Frieza blew up Earth, and Vegta was kill, those God Form not come with invincibility?
How did Goku an Beerus breath in space (haven't watched dub/sub movie).

I would think it would take more than 3 minutes for a Saiyan to suffocate... even RL humans can hold their breath for many times that long.Saiyan007 wrote:Nope lack of air killed him big differencevegitot wrote:The explosion of the earth killed Vegeta so i don't think he wantPolyphase Avatron wrote:I thought he was training them to become the new Gods of Destruction, Goku said he didn't want to but Vegeta might want to.

If there's ever a rainbow SSJ transformation, they'd probably go the Hyper Sonic route and make it one color (primarily blond), constantly changing to another one.

This is actually cooler than Bluper Saiyans.

You're talking about past transformations?Rocketman wrote:...just like every single other shitty no-effort recolor of the last two decades, except ~Toriyama~ made the no-effort, so they're magically cool and good and simple and OMG GOTTA BUY MERCHANDISE DAT WACKY TORIYAMA
I don't get your first point, because I had said before that it would be more than valid an explanation of why Goku and Vegeta were training with Whis.ShadowWolf87 wrote:But then people would start to complain as to why Goku/Vegeta/Gohan/etc Don't just go there/do that to get stronger and essentially max themselves out or wind up on an even playing field. Vegeta especially isn't above using artificial means to try to get stronger, why would he not run off to try to get stronger on his own as opposed to submitting to a teacher? Or why would some of the humans not try it for the sake of doing so?
Basically, revealing it would just open the door to more pointless complaining and debate. I, for one, would prefer we avoid that and just assume Freeza put himself through hell to acquire that level of power, which would also explain why he stopped as soon as he felt he could.
I still think that it would be a good thing just like you said "Freeza put himself through hell to acquire that level of power" but to show that some deep development through his character and he reached his limit but I would change the fact that in the end he is killed by Goku, I think a suicide after realizing that even though he went through a harsh training was still not power enough to fulfil his revenge making he go insane and self-destruct himself.

We are likely to get new DBZ movies once every two years. I'm fine with new movies as long Toriyama is back writing them. After going over 10 years with no new material besides video games before 2008, I think it's nice to have new movies.

ssj2: slightly spikier hair, same color, add electricity.
ssj3: Add a stupid amount of hair and lose dem eyebrows.
Face it, AT's designs have always been simple so OF COURSE you could make the case that they're similar to slightly altered DA designs.
Does that make it just as valuable/importantant/whatever? I think that's up to the person to decide, but with me, it all comes down to what value the story gives to it.
Ssj2 was arguably the laziest of the bunch, perhaps even more lazy than bluper saiyan, yet people adore it because of what it signifies, because of the value Mr. Toriyama gave it, with his awesome story telling...
And when the guy comes out and says that he's looking to make simple disigns... "I couldn't make frieza's design any more simple."
And "The blue signifies his newly found tranquility." (rough quotes I can't remember what he said exactl)
It seems pretty odd to complain, mock, and boo the design before even seeing the movie and judging whether the new form captures the essence of Goku's new mentality....
I mean... Maybe this will be another ssj2 and people will be able to admit it's not very different/"creative" artistically, but what that simple image represents IS very different and creative.

I am also fine with a new movie every couple of years. I would like the announcement of the next movie to happen closer to the release date so we don't have months upon months of no news, but even if we get another July announcement at least now I have a better idea of what the wait will be like. (BOG's wait was easier because of those WCF figure leaks fueling speculation).

I legitimately like "shitty no-effort recolors," though. I like that they're simple and sort of minimalistic in the actual change made to show what sort of power we're looking at. The types of designs that I don't like are designs like Super Saiyan 3 and Super Saiyan 4. Sure, they're neat overpowered things to truck around with in a video game just for the sake of making things easier, but both designs have way too much going on. One with the tons of hair and the other with the fur and the new pants and the face lines and whatnot.Rocketman wrote:I'm not saying anything about a nonexistant 'hivemind' conspiracy. I'm glad that SSJG wasn't some nonsense with tons of bulk and a cape or whatever. Sounds like it would go in the opposite direction of the simple and direct method.
Besides, after BoG there was tons of fanart out there of a blue SSJG Vegeta and people thought that was so damn cool. Now that it's real, we're supposed to hate it as a "shitty no-effort recolor" transformation? No, thanks. I'm not gonna jump on that train.

Long hair and no eyebrows is..too much going on?
Seems like a basic and natural progression to me.

i dont think its a no effort thing.
i think akira toriyama doesnt want that they change to much.
also akira toriyama's style was never complicated.
maybe he likes the old designe so much that he still wants that ppl recognise it?
