Please no; please let SSGSS, which actually makes sense, be the last of the transformations like SSJG should have been.sintzu wrote:Goku&Vegeta will probably get a ssgss3 in the 2nd or 3rd arc.Noah wrote:

Common sense says it follows right after the events of ROF, because that's what all the kiddos are gonna be watching now (and it makes sense from a marketing perspective) and that followed BOG... all things Toriyama supervised and have a continuity that is consistent so far. That means the series will probably begin where ROF left off, which means Goku and Vegeta will have the blue SSGSS hair and all that. Maybe something new will happen to replace it not long after the series begins, but I bet it starts that way.Noah wrote:I don't know I would be more hyped if they went in something original apart from the last movies, but I a little hyped too!Btown Saiyan wrote:This is amazing! I hope Funimation dubs this quickly. I hope there's a way to see it asap after it debuts in Japan. People keep mentioning simulcast, maybe that's an option? I just can't wait to see it or see where Toriyama takes the story next.

I have to do this to you guys...Imagine Toei just comes out and says ''Nahhh we were just messing with you guys'' haha
Everyone here would be crushed. haha I'm so evil
The Dragonboxes are like a middle aged woman who still looks good through simply taking good care of her skin and body with maybe a tiny bit of makeup while the Orange Bricks are like a middle aged woman who get's 50 tons of botox, makeup and plastic surgery in order to look younger and as a result looks even worse. ~ ringworm128

Nagamine Tatsuya doesn't seem to be up to much right now, hopefully he'll direct an episode. Ootsuka Takashi seems to have left Toei Animation for good, so he probably won't direct. Maybe Shida Naotoshi will finally take some more responsibility outside of storyboarding for others and doing key animation...?
Re: "Dragon Ball Super" On-Going Discussion Thread
Ssgss isn't a new form,it's ssj1 turned blue due to them absorbing Ssjg so after more training they'll probably be able to use 2&3 in the same way.Doctor. wrote:

July 9th 2018 will be remembered as the day Broly became canon.

If Goku and vegeta don't retire then we will probably see SSJ God form 3.

HO.

S***!!!!!!!!!!!!
Of all the things I'd never thought I'd see! Man, I know it's probably going to be on the cheap side since it's Toei, but damn, we finally have a NEW TV series, so at least it'll be something new to talk about. I'm excited for now!!!!!

A "rather haggard" translation of a line from Future Gohan in DBZ, provided to FUNimation by Toei:
"To think of fighting that is this fun...so, it was pleasant fight, as many as, therefore is a feeling which is good the fight where."

I think the decision to "begin production" on Dragon Ball Super was entirely because of the success of the latest film. Anyone else agree? 3 month production pipeline and we're looking at another GT.

Probably. I think the success of these latest two movies were enough to make Toei think, "'Ya know, it's been long enough, let's give this property another shot."NinjaGoku wrote:I think the decision to "begin production" on Dragon Ball Super was entirely because of the success of the latest film.

Will you still be pumped if ssjg Goku is done in Toriyama's current art style for the series? I could see this new anime being animated based on his current art style, which I don't like as much but could get used to.Chuquita wrote:I want ssjg Gokû back so bad, you guys. *Hope intensifies.*
I'm just hoping Toriyama actually has control of the story but has an editor dial him back; rather than this just being off the wall rubber stamping by Toei or even worse actually Toei ideas rubber stamped by Toriyama.
"You might think you know everything there is to know about me, but really, you're not even CLOSE."

As someone who watches the show every week, it changes all the time, sometimes it looks a lot better than others, but it looks as though it's produced on a low budget.bleed0range wrote:I don't really watch One Piece... what's the current animation look like?Nex Carnifex wrote:don't get your hopes up, it's animated by neo Toei, you know the ones that ruined One Piece.
Re: "Dragon Ball Super" On-Going Discussion Thread
The idea to start a new series has probably been in place since January. Then again, Gaiking only had three months of pre-production, too, but it also had more animators available to it.

How much money does it cost to run a series though? it's more than a movie right?

Thanks a lot! Some really cool stuff here. Always appreciate your insight into the anime production side of things.JulieYBM wrote:Yes. Chioka storyboarded both World Trigger Episode #23 and Disk Wars: Avengers Episode #27. One Piece Episode #690 was also storyboarded by Chioka. I believe he might have also storyboarded the first act or so of the 2013 Dragon Ball Z film. Chioka was the series director of Hakaba Kitarou, which also starred Nozawa Masako. Here is a picture of Chioka, on the left. You may find some more of his credits here.pappy wrote:Can you fill us in on some of the stuff he or she has done? Any highlights?JulieYBM wrote:Oh my goodness and a plethora of swear words, Chioka Kimitoshi is the series director. Best series director confirmed.
Chioka is pretty good with action, but I think his biggest strength is his work in non-action episodes. He keeps things dynamic and interesting. If he works with a good animation supervisor and key animators he'll probably pull off a great first episode, at least.
I love you love Mashirito.

Which Gaiking? The original 70's version or the recent adaption from 10 years ago?JulieYBM wrote:The idea to start a new series has probably been in place since January. Then again, Gaiking only had three months of pre-production, too, but it also had more animators available to it.

Of course, some figures comparing the average One Piece episode with Battle of the Gods might help.samuraix123 wrote:How much money does it cost to run a series though? it's more than a movie right?

C'mon guys, we're all forgetting the real question here.....
When will we see the Ocean dub of Dragon Ball Super?
Semi-joking aside, the remaining episodes of Kai really do seem more annoying than ever now, don't they? Now they're just taking up space until Super starts.
