I'm a bit confused. Will DragonBall Super be taking place after the defeat of Majin Boo or after Resurrection F? I may have read the official statement wrong .

What about a series, it is not known, when exactly it will take place. We know only that it is after Buu arc.
But now this will be the difference, my friends:

We will have another sequel Z and unlike GT it will have script, supervision and character design by Akira Toriyama, that GT didn't have

So yeah, GT will still exists... But now will be truly banished as "alternate story from another universe" because now this new series DB Super will be the actual canon to the story after Z

God bless us all
But GT was also supervised by Toriyama. And even initial character designs were made by him, most noticeable Vegeta with moustache.

But everything past Cell saga is an alternate story from another universe, or timeline. Why does it matter? Besides Chonzenshu and Toei put BoG and GT in the same timeline, despite all of its inconsistencies.

Everything we know is in this article from the front page of Kanzenshuu. Any information beyond that has either been made up or extrapolated from what was officially announced.

Unless you read it on the main page, assume it's nonsense.

I want to be after EoZ so we can finnaly ignore GT FOR GOOD!
It's comments like this that suck the fun out of new dragon ball. We can't just enjoy that a new thing is happening...no we must know if it's being made with the sole motive of finally slaying the vile dragon GT! We must know if Toei is finally going to press the magic 'make GT go away' button, heaven forbid we just enjoy the announcement of a new series, heaven forbid people be excited without having to make snide comments about how something others may enjoy is dead. Heaven forbid just one thing dragon ball be announced without the entire western fandom having to get into this big fight about how this effects or 'kills' GT. If you don't like it, fine, ignore it. Problem solved, but for everyone else, let us enjoy the announcement for what it is, new dragon ball. Thank you that's my rant!
Exactly my point! :D Only I am not as enthusiastic about new series like you are =/

Yeah. Also note, that we don't know for sure how much of story is written by Toriyama. While sure Osamu Nozaki said :“Mr. Toriyama has developed a plot that’s not only a dream come true for Dragon Ball‘s millions of fans, but one that will foster in a new generation of viewers.”

But it is rather vague. It is not like with movies, where Toriyama wrote a screenplay for a whole FnF movie. Here we don't know how much he is involved, and moreover how much he wishes to stay working on this project.

I mean, you're pretty open about looking at cartoon porn. Why would you do that? It's fiction. The proportions of these women are not possible to reach in reality.

Most of the intial character designs in GT were done by Toriyama. The ultra hated for no reason Mustache Vegeta? Toriyama designed that. Probably a lot of things done in GT, Toriyama had to approve, He has stated he enjoyed the series and enjoyed many of the things some fans complain about when it comes to GT. Sit and think on that. GT isn't 'from another universe' it's just an alternate timeline, like Future Trunk's time. It's all within the same universe and continuity, just different timelines. So please, for the sake of others who just want to enjoy new dragon ball, stow your hate away and just enjoy this for what it is. New Dragon Ball. New Dragon Ball that we actually know very little about, we don't even know if Toriyama is writing the entire thing...all we know is he has plotted Super.

Now on a completely unrelated note, I shall allow the floodgates of my mind to open for a moment....OMG NEW DRAGON BALL! FUCK YES! I cannot explain how psyched I am! 18 years! 18! YEARS! AAAAAHHHHHH!!!! I need more information! I NEED STORY DETAILS! PLEASE TOEI FEED MY HYPE! (Reasonably though, don't wanna overhype this!) SHUT UP SENSIBLE BRAIN! IT'S NEW DRAGON BALL TIME! I found this out at work and with the area I work in...nerds galore, whole department came to a screeching halt as we spent an HOUR chatting about this! AN HOUR!...money well earned.

Then it's not the same continuity. In particular because Trunks' alternate timeline is direct reason for "main" timeline's existance. GT doesn't seem to have any effect like that whatsoever

Eh...kinda right kinda wrong. Temporal continuity yeah they aren't the same, but narrative I guess? Sorry it's kinda early morning for me. Either way this really isn't the thread for this discussion.

Isn't Future Trunks' timeline actually the main timeline considering his wasn't the one visited by a Future Trunks?

OT tho:
The idea that we might actually get stuff like mood lighting, and framing that has creative angle shots has me really excited.
I don't actually know much about Pretty Cure, as I watched only original Futari Wa series and half of Max :D , but I saw some transformations and fights from other parts of franchises, and they look really good, nothing like Sailor Moon Crystal. Even though Pretty Cure has CGI in some endings, it looks good (in my opinion).

Well, let's hope that animation will at least be in Saint Seiya Omega's level. This is the most what I give to them.
I actually got into precure through Dragon Ball. I was looking for other roles Nozawa had played, found out she voiced a character on Futari Wa, went to check it out....and she ended up being the grandmother on that show. XD
I was under the impression she voiced one of the cures.
She also voices a couple mascots using her Gohan voice.

The cgi had been kept to the ending sequences, but the past two years it's creeping into the show proper. It's way better cgi than Crystal's tho.

I feel like we'll probably get good and bad animation days for Super.

Didn't Toriyama only supervise early GT?

I heard he did up until the defeat of Bebi/Baby, not sure if that's true though but he was defenetly involved in the early stages

Yeah, but not of the Future Trunks which we saw appearing in timeline (which led to Buu etc) post Androids saga, but of the one who was killed by Cell in the future. This was the first and the original timeline. After it, because of Cell killing Trunks, it somehow went into timeline where... Trunks killed Cell... after in the another timeline which was created because of both Cell and Trunks travelling in the past, Cell killed Trunks... Well, it is mind blowing for sure. To be simple. Because of Cell killing Trunks, and travelling into the past, the timeline which was already altered by Trunks travelling into the past was altered once again, which led to timeline where Trunks was killed by Cell (intially) being altered once again which led to Trunks actually surviving and killing Cell instead. So there are four timelines in total. One where Trunks was killed by Cell, and from where Future Cell came from, the other one which was never shown, and where Trunks helped Z fighters to defeat Androids, but never warned them about Cell, and two others, which were created because of Cell - one where Cell was a threat, which led for Trunks training and becoming stronger than Imperfect Cell, and the one where Trunks finally killed Cell by himself and put an end to a nightmare.

Oh, this is actually rather interesting :D I also heard a lot about Pretty Cure having as good fights as in Dragon Ball / Z. And I also noticed this granny :D It is Honoka's, Cure White's grandmother) Was very surprised to hear her voice, as I just watched DBZ before it, I guess. I also would have thought that she voiced one of the cures if I knew about her participance, but not a cure's granny :D

Wow! This one I didn't know. Guess I need to continue watching series finally. Especially after all this disappointment because of Crystal.

Oh, it is good to know that it actually looks good.

Yeah, I feel the same. Wish Toei could be more consistent with it =/

After the success of Heroes and the recently insane numbers RoF is pulling, coupled with the fact that a new DB series has been rumored and joked about for nearly 20 years... the sheer fact that this even exists is going to pull insane viewership numbers.

Not to mention, Dragon Ball survived on old material for ages... imagine how long BoG/RoF and DBS will extend the series' longevity.

If they play their cards right with S then it'll be around for another 30 years.
July 9th 2018 will be remembered as the day Broly became canon.

Itaoka Nishiki is practically married to the Pretty Cure franchise, so I doubt we'll see him work on Dragon Ball Super. My guess is that at the most we will see Shida Naotoshi, Kuroyanagi Kenji, Tate Naoki, Hamano Yuu'ichi, and Oonishi Ryou contribute something. Ootsuka Ken has a penchant for working on Dragon Ball, so perhaps he can be brought over, too.

The real question is who will be involved as character designer and chief animation supervisor. I assume it will be Yamamuro Tadayoshi but given we are three months away and have no key visuals yet I have to wonder if that is so.

The possibility of a new character designer is exciting. F's looks better than BOG's designs from what I've seen, but I'm so hungry to see not!Yamamuro character designs for Dragon Ball.

Just wanted to say, Dragon Ball Super was the second most mentioned trend topic of Mexico from yesterday. xD I checked.

Anyway, I need the wisdom of the animation experts in the forum. The series is supposed to come out in July. Do you think they have already the first few episodes? How many episodes do series have ready at the moment of their release? How long does it take to make one episode with the quality of the current Pretty Cure?
Check out Journey's End, a short story of Goku and Vegeta's final days. "Time is running out for the last two Saiyans"
