Made my day right there...Thank you, I needed a good laugh.
Though a little violence is nice now and again, but with today's censors and such I think we're gonna have a lot more beam struggle battles...It's like Precure to me, the original and Max heart had a lot of fist fighting and impactful combat but slowly over the years we got more...beam attacks, magic strikes and that kinda stuff. Only now are we seeing a little more of the old school fighting return. Heck Saint Seiya Soul of Gold doesn't have the brutal fights either...it's a lot more *Wipe field with special attack!* at the moment, though soul of gold is only on episode 2 right now.
Going on hiatus. Too much stuff in RL to deal with for me to keep up with posts here for now. Was fun, hope you all have a nice day and future! Volt signing off.

It's not the thought of Piccolo getting a power up that bugs me, it's the bias thinking that it's perfectly logical and fine for him to catch up to Goku but it's apparently impossible for the humans too when they're at best a couple steps down from Piccolo who is a couple steps down from Trunks and Goten. Again, any power up that would be unbelievable for the humans would also be unbelievable for the Namekian. Hence why I don't care if we get an unbelievable thing that boosts the old guard back up to relevant fighting status!
Well the ridiculous becomes possible, so there's no real reason to say "It's impossible for Piccolo or the Humans to get uber strong". Consistency is a non issue. All that matters is do they want to use these characters or not. If so then contrived means will be made so they can be powerful, and people will accept them no matter how ludicrous they could be.
Why Dragon Ball Consistency in something such as power levels matter!

Power levels establish tension and drama. People who care about them (well, people who care about them in a narrative) don't care about the big numbers or the fancy explosions. If you have character A who's so much above character B, who's the main character, you're gonna be left wondering how in the hell character B, the character we're supposed to care and root for, is going to escape the situation or overcome the odds. It makes us emotionally invested.
If character B doesn't escape the situation in a believable way that's consistent with previous events, then that emotional investment is gone. It was pointless tension, pointless drama made just to suck in the viewer. It has no critical value whatsoever. The audience is left believing that the author can just create whatever scenarios he wants and what happens to the characters is decided by whatever the author wants to happen, regardless of the events that happened in the story. Which, in fairness, is what happens, but the audience wants to be fooled. The audience wants to know that the world they're following has rules. That the world they're invested in isn't going to bend to external factors that are irrelevant to them.
An author can do whatever he wants with the characters, that's not false. But the author should also have the responsibility to make sure it fits in cohesively with the other events in the narrative he has created.

Well, the manga was quite gore at times
Spoiler:
I don't see the problem if people don't want that aspect to be toned down, as it was present in the actual manga

I'm not so sure why this joke was necessary; I specifically said I didn't want it to be too gorey and that if it returned to the levels of violence in the manga, it'd be fine; and even if it didn't, it wouldn't be a big deal.

But I'm not saying it's impossible. In fact I'm saying I want them to get a total BS outta nowhere deus ex powerup! I want a contrived reason for the old crew to be made super powerful! Not a contrived reason why only 1 gets the power up and everyone else is left to rot! I want them ALL to be awesome again. So let's do that!

Well depends on just how much they give a shit about them. Considering as of recent they hardly give two shits, then I fear we're just gonna have more Goku, Vegeta, Beerus, and Whis only.....then soon just Goku as he gets too powerful for everyone else again.

Not sure why anyone would expect more violence. It's airing in the same timeslot as Kai and you've seen what they've done with Kai. The movies have been tame as well so I don't even think that makes any difference at this point.

I'm drunk today and I had to do that. It was funny. I am sorry you don't appreciate that, but it was funny.
It was no personal attack on you, but the statement just reminded me of this violent discussion in thread about exactly this issue and I made a parody.
I hope that you will find it funny someday. Have a nice day Doctor, I like your avatar.

I hope Toriyama shows the old guard some love, if anything make them moral support and pseudo mentors for the new characters I'm sure we might get.
I'm kinda expecting Goku to hit this point where he goes the way of Heisei era Godzilla, where he gets so powerful that he goes critical mass and explodes or perhaps Alphamon from Digimon who is so absurdly powerful he actually cannot exist in the regular digital world without overloading it to the point of collapse ala Megidramon.

The humans will not be fighting much if at all in this new series. Yamucha is retired, and I believe Kuririn only trains so he doesn't get weaker. Tenshinhan still trains but the power gap between him and these new villains coming will be to big for him to even consider getting involved. I don't even want to see the human fighters fight at this point. Just show them living out their lives and let us see what they are up to every once in a while. Only chance for old characters becoming relevant in fights again is Piccolo (big maybe and only with a godly power up), and Majin Boo who I don't think anyone should dismiss as being fodder.

Toriyama is motivated again because he doesn't have to do all the work.
"Just" a script and character design to show how things are to the staff.
No pressure. No weekly demands. Free as a Tori, to do whatever he wants.
I guess the first thing he realized when finished BOG was something like " Woah, working like this is easier. If I just have to do this, I thing I can keep going".
I'm interested to see the tv ratings sky rocket. Because without manga, no one will know what will happen every week.

A world without Dragon Ball is just boring.
Favourite old DB Animators: Masaki Sato and Tadayoshi Yamamuro
Favourite new DB Animators: Yuya Takahashi and Chikashi Kubota

Hopefully he can give us a 200+ episode series.
July 9th 2018 will be remembered as the day Broly became canon.

Eh I think they're kinda screwed. The humans haven't been allowed to do anything of real worth in a long time. I haven't seen Frontier, but I hear a similar example is when all the kids give their spirit power things to only two of them, so then everyone but these two kids suck now.
Meh he'll be brought back with the Dragon Balls, and then get even stronger next time.

100 episodes I think it is fine, not to mention we probably could get a movie, a TV Special and/or an OVA based on this new series, so it's fairly okay.
This is a whole new series. It opens way, way, way more possibilities to make certain characters useful and relevant than a couple of 80-90 minute movies. They obviously won't take any risks in a single movie and make, say, Piccolo the main protagonist, but in the anime they can easily let him have some of the spotlight.

But wouldn't him reaching critical mass and exploding count as a natural death? I don't think he can be wished back from that cause he died due to his own power. Either way we'll have to wait and see how Super handles all this.

Agreed! I'm hoping people like Yamcha, Krillin and Tien can get in on the fun as well. I would honestly love to see a world tournament! I'm such a sucker for tournaments.
