Scans like that make me glad folks are putting out better quality ones, if only for the sake of reference material. lolWhite Oni wrote:So I guess, in light of the ring blast feat, this isn't really a feat worth mentioning anymore.Spoiler:

They should go and search for it just like they searched for the bad ones. And wow, never thought that this canon/non-canon thing would be an issue. "GT is a fun little side story from a different universe" VS "I wrote FNF as if it was a continuation of the manga". Apparently that is not enough to let us know what's canon and what's not but ok.Dyno wrote:Not everyone has access to mangas with top quality.AjayLikesGaming wrote:I am still baffled that those terrible scans are still used. I know, right? On Kanzenshuu of all places, even. The website where people care enough to match the colors and audio of the Dragon Boxes to the original TV airings. The website where we nitpick the smallest details and strive for perfection. Yet we can't seem to get away from the dranet scans of the early 2000s.AjayLikesGaming wrote:I am still baffled that those terrible scans are still used. C'mon now.

Spend a little more than 30 seconds looking and you'll find that that's absolutely not the case.Dyno wrote:Except the bad ones are the only ones that appear when you Google it.

Really? So how are the good ones found if only the bad ones appear? And sorry sir, that's not an opinion, that's what Toriyama stated. And yeah if there's another thread about this topic might as well end it here.Dyno wrote:Except the bad ones are the only ones that appear when you Google it.NavonWise wrote:They should go and search for it just like they searched for the bad ones.

Why are people using that scan of Trunks as an argument? He very clearly did no damage to Boo at all.
I don't think people get that the problem isn't that Sorbet managed to hit Goku; but that Sorbet managed to almost kill him.

To be perfectly fair. Maybe some people don't really know the difference anyway? I didn't really because I never bother to link to scans and the one time I did I got called out for using a really old scanlation. I have never read or used scanlation and only ever bought the manga myself in real life on actual paper. I didn't even know.AjayLikesGaming wrote:Spend a little more than 30 seconds looking and you'll find that that's absolutely not the case.Dyno wrote:Except the bad ones are the only ones that appear when you Google it.
There's really no excuse. I fully understand I'm making a big deal over an inconsequential image, but let's not pretend it's at all hard to find this stuff; legally or otherwise.Spoiler:

It's not a matter of laziness it's a matter of ignorance, I had no idea better scans were available and that's simply because I was referred to that site by someone actually saying it had good quality scans, if you wanna tell me there's something better out there, do so with a good spirit, don't act so damn pretentious about such a stupid subject matter, it makes you look childish.
Not to mention the fact that I don't even use the Internet to read dbZ manga I have every manga in physical copy. I was simply trying to find a link to that particular panel to make a point.

Hey, sorry about that. It wasn't intended to be a direct attack, I just speaking generally about how often that stuff gets posted. Totally see why you got offended. The problem is that many people here deliver that kind of answer every day... Well, anyway.
Hope to get my dubbed trailer soon, now that it will come with the original cast!

Don't sweat it, I do appreciate finding out that there's better quality stuff out there though, that is pretty cool, though I do feel a little less special for having the physical copies now QQ lol.
Hell, some of those scans look even better than my physicals... Da hell!? Lol

Re: Official On-Going DBZ 2015 Movie Thread: "Resurrection '
You see, that's the point. There is no indication in the movie Goku lowered his ki level as he was still battling Freeza, he was just standing and taking with him.fexus wrote:It's not about the aura. It's just that at that specific time Goku has drop down his ki level so low that the ring laser worked on him. Piercing power in DB is always better than the blast type of attacks. This was shown in the manga and again in this movie. The points are already in the manga, the movie only use those points in a different way. People just don't like that because the level is too low. We are specifically talking about Goku. Not Vegeta, not Freeza. Goku was the one that did it. It's one of Goku's weakness. I'm not saying that this is good writing but people thinking this is a plot hole is just too much.
I would agree if he reverted back to base form or something but Goku was still powered up, but apparently the fact he wasn't paying attention to his surrounding surely screwed him over as he was injured by a pathetically weak blast that would have never scratched him had he been aware of it. Its why Kuririn couldn't harm Vegeta in the slightest and even outright states this until Vegeta lowers his ki down low enough for Kuririn to be capable of injuring him.
I have no problem with off guarded attacks, its the manner that it was done in this movie was just forced and stupid. If it was executed better yeah, that would be nice, but the way its presented in the movie is just jarring and in your face, that's why people have a problem with it. Its an odd inconsistency as Goku never had this problem before, but apparently he's a moron that drastically lowers his power at any given moment while still fighting high power level villains (Golden Freeza).
If anything, your interpretation is the wrong idea. Also, this is a case by case thing with various series and is not equal across all forms of media. Anyway, their are clearly separate continuities and not everything that has been made under the sun fits into one cohesive universe. To say otherwise is just being willfully ignorant.Cetra wrote:What you call "main continuity" is just a wrong idea. It is merely the base form of Dragon Ball that Akira Toriyama uses for the story and that "definitely" has to be included. It does not mean other things are actually excluded.
If the author/creator of said series himself says the movies are no related to his series what is there to argue about? That seems like a clear cut statement to me.Take the Detective Conan movies as example. Many people claim the Conan movies are not canonical as they are not in the manga, they are written by someone else, blahblablah. But that is not how things work. And Gosho Aoyama even mentioned he wanted to include important things in the movies. He also once said the movies are not related to the manga, which people use to claim the movies are not canonical.
If I'm not mistaken Toriyama still holds the intellectual property to DB meaning he's the sole owner and rights holder to DB as he didn't sell anything off. Toei has licensing rights to animate Dragon Balll, but that doesn't mean they own it. in any case this seems to be getting convoluted, what I was saying with Herms is that there is a a form of main continuity here, the one that Toriyama uses and everyone else blindly follows in accordance. The old movies are stated to be in an alternate universe so they are not set in the same world that the world Toriyama writes. There is no Broli, Freeza doesn't have an older brother, Bardock didn't time travel, turn ssj, and beat the crap out of Freeza's ancestor, there is no Android 13, nor is there a Super Kaioken and ect. in Toriyama's continuity. Its not only the old 13 movies take place in an alternate universe, they straight out don't fit at all in the manga's continuity. They are highly illogical and incoherent is a big strike why they are also in another alternate universe separate. The best way I can say this is you know of Tenchi Muyo and Tenchi Universe right? Same characters and Japanese voice actors and such, however, both shows exist in their own separate universe not related to the other. Same deal here.Especially when Toei Animation absolutely owns rights about Dragon Ball. So yes, Akira Toriyama does have the right to decide. But he is not the only one. Of course Toei Animation wants him to write stuff. They respect him as the original creator. That does not make their right non-existent.
Like Marlowe89 said, plus none of GT is referenced in DBO's timeline created by Toriyama as Piccolo is alive and well in DBO yet dead and forgotten in GT for instance, let alone Goku and Vegeta have their final showdown in DBO, yet no such thing obviously doesn't take place in GT. I'm this way with any franchise I follow. And also - how is GT not compatible with the rest? Because Pilaf is young and Goku has blue hair? I hope that is really not a serious argument. As well as the 20 year old "different dimension" argument is so old it starts to smell already, He probably has even changed his mind by now. Or maybe it was not even meant like people think. People even think "side-story" means not-canonical.
I feel most people have this indecisive on the fence stance when it comes to continuity for DBZ, they don't want to say this, but they don't want to say that either. Like some weird neutral middle ground or something. A lot of certain scans just can't be found, legally, unless you want to commit piracy and we don't roll that way here on Kanzenshuu. Though we are starting to get off subject so I'll end it here.NavonWise wrote:And wow, never thought that this canon/non-canon thing would be an issue. After the announcement of Dragon Ball Super, this movie doesn't seem like such a big deal now.
Anyway, seeing as how Madman has already confirmed both dubbed and subtitled screenings of the movie down here in NZ and AUS, I'm gonna go ahead and guess that this is actually coming from a decision by FUNimation to do the same thing over in the States. They haven't actually announced anything yet, but I'm fairly certain that this is their intention. Especially given the fact that they already have a subtitled version of the movie that's all good to go after the big premiere in L.A.

Yeah, I've totally stopped watching this thread the way I was. XD
I still want to see the movie and all (yay awkward hand holding!) but I'm so excited for the series now.
