Who was in charge of the animation in the JSAT special?

That special was a weird one for animation. It felt like everyone in charge of the first half had no idea how to draw Dragon Ball characters. You could very easily see a lot of One Piece traits coming in; with the rounded jaws and underbites. Totally understandable given the team behind it, but still very strange to watch from this side of the fandom.

As soon as you got into the later parts of the special, things turned out a lot better. Especially the Shida cut for the SSJ3 Kamehameha, which is absolutely amazing! It might be the closest any of the modern works have gotten to looking like DBZ's Boo arc.

I guess you could probably expect similar consistency, except with characters looking like they actually belong in Dragon Ball! With the director we've gotten, they'll at least look nice compositionally, even if what's going on in frame isn't mindblowingly crazy.

I never said that I liked the animation there. I hope I am wrong but sth tells me that the animation will have many flaws.

This is so true. I remember watching the first part and being like "I really hate the new style." Then when the last fight started I was like "Woah, I'm loving this part".
So whoever did that part, gets a free pass from me too.

I had a hard time to get used to the new style. Not only the characters may not look on model, they can become anorectic too.
(Satan in BOG, Gohan in ROF).

Goku looks buff in ROF, but seems like Gohan and Vegeta were the sacrifices.

Redeem Pan by actually making her cool, redeem Goten so that at least one of Goku's kids is worth something rather than being Gohan 2, completely retcon GT from any possible legitimacy, etc. It's a win-win.

I dunno why some guys think that Pan will be any different from Toei's one, as her mother is Videl, and her grandmother is Chichi. Pan will be exactly like in GT, only she will not have any role in series, as she will just be there, like her mother and grandmother.

What about retconing GT, I am sick of hearing it. By this logic every single remake, spin-off and new adaptation retcons previous one. It is like saying that DB and DBZ don't exist after Kai, or that Sailor Moon 90's series don't exist after Crystal, or that original Harlock doesn't exist after countless of different adaptations, prequels (which have similar characters, but with completely different personalities and time appearance), or that Astro Boy very first anime series doesn't exist because of remakes. It doesn't work like that. Even if this series happens in the same time frame (which is just a speculation without any basis by the way) as GT, it won't change the existence of GT or retcon it, nothing will change. No one is planning to do it, nor Toei, nor Toriyama.

At the very least, Super is almost guaranteed to be far more consistent than anything we've seen from the franchise previously. That doesn't mean its best moments will surpass what we've had in the past, but we should be spared of general ugliness. At worst, we may see the awkwardness of the Boo Kai intros.

Why? If anything, recent Toei project are as inconsistent as even possible to be.

The reason why we think Pan could be a real fighter is because in the EoZ it was made pretty clear that she was the only one who took after Goku in the sense that she really loves fighting and training, and is already very strong. This is shown in contrast to Goten and Trunks who apparently prefer other things and haven't trained in a long time, and obviously Gohan who is now a scholar or whatever.

He tweeted that he was storyboarding for a 'certain project' a little under a month ago. We don't know whether that specifically refers to Dragon Ball Super, but I'd be surprised if they don't use him in at least some capacity. With his talent and history with the series, I feel like they'd only exclude him if he were too busy with other projects.

I so hope we get some work from him, though. His cuts for Toriko were so nice:
