Bardock shits on it because he ruins Goku's theme and the reason why he achieved it was stupid and a big asspullDyno wrote:Yes, because many of you say Bardock shits on the legend and everything else for have been transformed first. Broly is just a bad character, that's it. You seriously need to lighten up a bit whenever Bardock comes up.
Re: Overused characters?
You said "Broly is the Legendary Super Saiyajin on whose story and origin as well as power we can always expand" even though his story (does he have one?) and origin show that he transformed before than Kakarot, same what happened with Bardock, if it ruins the "first time", Broly also does ruin. And I'm not trying to fight, believe me. This is not me trying to fight, yet.
And by "Bardock being corrupted" you mean Evil Bardock? If so, what's the problem? He got "corrupted" kinda the same way what happened to Vegeta, only that in Bardock's case, the "corruption" worked.

I don't see how Broly being the legendary Super Saiyan ruins Goku's theme that even low-class trash can surpass a genius with hard work.Doctor. wrote:Broly is just a bad character, that's it.
Re: Overused characters?
I do not really get your point. Your problem is you have had the urge to answer me even though I just said "if we accept Bardock's ridiculous power up we can accept Broly, who at least has the story of being a unique type of Saiyajin as well, therefore the upcoming posts about discussing who is more or less unbelievable are totally unnecessary". You not understanding that and still posting leads me to the conclusion that, even though my post was not even negative about Bardock, you being biased when it comes to him immediately makes you try to defend him and pick up a fight, even if not asked for. Which by the way is ridiculous anyway as none of it is worth a fight as it is a manga/anime. But people's mind don't work like that so it is not like "there is no use fighting over fiction" is gonna help anyway.Dyno wrote:You said "Broly is the Legendary Super Saiyajin on whose story and origin as well as power we can always expand" even though his story (does he have one?) and origin shows that he transformed before than Kakarot. Re: Overused characters?
Broly arguably doesn't ruin it, because Broly is depicted more as an antithesis of Goku. They're nemeses, and Broly is out to kill Goku. Having your nemesis share your qualities makes for a better story, in certain lights.
With Bardock, he was depicted in EoB as having been the fabled Legendary Super Saiyan of Legend. And he's Goku's dad. That makes the moment of Goku becoming a Super Saiyan look more like "oh, well of course Goku would become a Super Saiyan; it's in his blood after all!" That, to myself and many others, devalues the living hell out of Goku transforming in the first place.
Now, Broly certainly shits on the notion of Goku being the first one to do it in 1000 years, but that's a different sort of shitting than what Bardock is doing.

Re: Overused characters?
You do know the Bardock's ridiculous power up is only a Dragon Ball Heroes thing, don't you? In Dragon Ball Online (where Evil Bardock indeed came from), he does not have that power up... I don't get why Heroes is being taken this serious, to the point of this "fight". On the other hand, it is in many damn games Broly has the ridiculous power up.Cetra wrote:I do not really get your point. Re: Overused characters?
I don't care where and when Bardock gets his power ups and it also has nothing to do with what I wrote because I already said, it does not matter. I think it is ridiculous, just as Golden Freeza after 4 months. That does not change the fact that a person who has rights for Dragon Ball can do that. So if they want Bardock to have special powers in Heroes, then they can do that. They spend money for their rights so they fully are allowed to do that. Does it seem over the top? Yes. Is it possible? Yes. Do I like it? Not always. They are allowed to do with both characters what they want. Not only one of them therefore any "eh Bardock not but Broly, eh Broly not but Broly" is, just from a legal point of view ,not necessary. And when it comes to opinions, well, it is not like we all agree what should or should be. Also it is not necessary to explain me anything because I have yet to see a Dragon Ball character I do not like. Other than biased people who just follow the Anti-Hype-Hype these days I like Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball Z and also Dragon Ball GT and I also like Episode of Bardock and all that other stuff. One more or less than the other because I still can dislike certain aspects but I like all of Dragon Ball.Dyno wrote:You do know the Bardock's ridiculous power up is only a Dragon Ball Heroes thing, don't you? Re: Overused characters?
Then all of this is pointless, it's clear we both share same opinions and thoughts, only getting different in "Broly is the Legendary Super Saiyajin on whose story and origin as well as power we can always expand."
Indeed is perfectly legit "Super Saiyan 4 Broly", "Golden Great Ape Broly", "Super Saiyan 3 Broly", "Bardock on par with Gogeta" and we can accept those... It's not a matter of what they can do, it's the excessive number of what they can do. That is my problem. And the fact that even though Broly is a "unique character", he gets that description in a bad way, he could be a unique character having actually a good character development, having actually a personality, things he doesn't have and yet, he gets amount of merch, screentime and etc... All the time, until these days, this I don't get either.

Re: Overused characters?
I don't see why people complain about Broly either. He's popular. They would be stupid not to market him. Most of Broly wank is in VIDEO games. Not like it effects anything. Broly didn't randomly appear in FNF and kill Freeza. IMO it's a smart move by the companies.Zephyr wrote:If we're taking that route of reasoning, I guess there's no grounds for whining about Broly-wanking then.
