Official On-Going DBZ 2015 Movie Thread: "Resurrection 'F'"

. Randomly just having Super Bluper pop up without explanation would be jarring from a continuous TV series perspective.

Already happened once. They can recap BoG and have Goku and Vegeta train with Whis the first few episodes. Then debut SSGSSJ and explain the form like Goku did in movie. Could easily be a 1 to 4 episode villain from another universe. Goku can lose due to over confidence. Vegeta can lose due to letting his anger get the best of him. Whis reverse time. Goku and Vegeta work together.

Damn DB Super pilot episode.

I dunno about following the plot for a pilot episode, but really you could just introduce a lot of this stuff in the new anime. Actually I think this movie would really have benefited if it was instead a story arc for Dragon Ball Super. Then we could have fleshed out a lot more of the story

Still good training and excuse for Vegeta to get his revenge. Even though Freeza rage quits, those punches felt good. And he's the only villain that deserves to be back.
F only treats him marginally better than the anime fillers, Fusion Reborn and GT did.
You have the chance to make Frieza an actual intimidating villain again , but instead he feels more like a sore loser.
Why should a guy who reached SSG tier in the time it took for Goku to prep for Vegeta be treated like such a joke? Like you said "training" that's all he was.

No, Whis has a unique ability to make his character unique. Which he hints right in the beginning and comes to use later. Good writting!
No it's not good writing Whis is no better than the Dragon Balls now, a convenient plot device

1 minute is still better than most of all other movies, where he gets his ass beaten right away after his "badass" entrance.
Not the best DBZ moment, but one of the best Vegeta's movie moments by far. In your ass, indeed.
You know Vegeta's been treated like shit when fans think him beating up an exhausted Freeza in a one minute "fight" is one of his greatest moments

I woud like this idea to be expanded too, but Toriyama never confirmed it would do it.

Yes it does like dbzfan7 said this whole movie felt like filler, if the multiverse plot had been expanded on, it would have added something to the DB lore, instead all we got now is blue SSJ

Well it's cause the same points have been spoken to death, so it's getting tiring. While I agree with that point, I don't like how this problem is suddenly a non issue when it comes to some of the black sheep of Dragon Ball. Then it's ok to use the same points over and over again anyways, and make several topics on said things over and over again. I don't think I'll see many or even few people tell people to stop harping on Broly. Fanbase be damned I don't see many Broly people here.

Ajay has already said it better than I can, but to put it in layman's terms even further - the main thing that makes it annoying to read these same criticisms again and again isn't that they're criticisms. It's how they're presented. Let's take the reveal of the full version of 'Vow of Z' that was released earlier. I'm not particularly fond of it, and I feel the best part of it was the chorus that we already heard in the second trailer. An acceptable way to express this, the way I see it, is exactly how I did so - explaining these factors and how it's not particularly my cup of tea, but ah well, it is what it is.

The way a lot of posts as of late about the movie would have expressed the same thing though?

'Oh man, what IS this shit! It's like they're not even trying! This isn't anything at all like Dragon Ball! We NEVER had pop songs like this back when they actually CARED about what they were doing! THIS RUINS EVERYTHING!'

My example is a little too obviously hyperbole, but my point stands. Can you really not see how it would get old, and very fast, to read that repeatedly? And it makes it all the worse that it's some of the same people that are always posting this stuff. I can look at posts from certain users via their profile and, what do you know, literally everything posted for a good few pages of searching is constant negativity. That's not the way to enjoy being part of a fandom. It's really not.

He one shots Gohan instead of being one shotted by Gohan. He's plenty of a threat until maybe 20 mins of the ending. Also, he feels like a sore loser you say? God forbid he acts like he was written in the manga itself. He is probably the sorest loser of any of Toriyama's myriad of losers and does it with charisma and aplomb to spare in the movie.

I'll say it one more time very clearly : your opinion means very little. Until you've actually seen the film.

Even if he succeeded, it's not like Beerus and Whis are just gonna let him go. Beerus already planned on killing Freeza anyways in the last movie, til he learned someone else did it first. I don't think they'd just wave goodbye and let Freeza be on his merry way. Freeza was screwed no matter what.

There are a few issues with that:

1. The word is "Japanese". "Jap" is generally considered offensive. Either write out the word in full or use abbreviations such as "JP" or "JPN".
2. We don't know yet. The movie's only been in its Japanese theatrical release for two weeks. The very first listing for the home release of Battle of Gods appeared a little less than two months after its initial release, which was a couple weeks after it disappeared from most cinemas.
3. The Japanese release will almost certainly not have English subtitles. Perhaps someone out there will publish a free subtitle script to use with your legitimately purchased copy of the Japanese home release, but somehow I doubt that's what you're describing here.
4. FUNimation will almost certainly release the English dub in North American theaters before it makes either the English or Japanese version available through the usual streaming outlets, and they'll probably make sure their home release comes out first too so they can maximize their sales of physical media.

How many times has GT been discussed and criticized? How many times has Evolution been discussed and criticized? What about Bio Broly? When those three subjects pop-up, nobody gets sick or even makes a point in saying that enough is enough and that nothing everyone ever says anymore will be something new. What exactly separates the accepted criticism those three get from the "toxic environment" the criticism this film gets apparently creates?

GT? You mean the series that everybody who can watch it already watch it. Discussed many times. Also been criticized many times. Evolution is rarely brought up now. Bio Broly even less. If we based it on this forum here, there are only a few of the same people that is so called criticizing about this. You want to criticize go ahead but purposely ignoring post so that you can make one-liners and again try to revive back a discussion that has and already been answered to in the same thread a couple of pages back is just awful.

Point is when it's these subjects, then it doesn't matter how many times people bash or go Broly sucks or whatever. In any thread you can say pretty much anything you want positive or negative about the past movies, GT, etc, and no one really cares if you bash it to death. In most GT threads the same point is brought up over and over again, but it doesn't really matter to anyone. Only here and back then with Battle of Gods it suddenly matters.

Holy shit! You comment made me think a little. As hype as I am for the movie. As much as I wanna see it. This movie does read like a dbz filler! You can remove this movie and still have Blue SSJ debut in DB Super! This movie doesn't effect anything in the series just like filler! This is basically a training of Goku and Vegeta movie. This movie is the equal to those filler Gohan training episode.

It really doesn't. We got to see SSGSS. Golden Freeza. Some character development for Goku and Vegeta but mostly Goku. We learn more about Whis and it also shows Jaco animated the first time and him interacting with the main cast. Krillin shaves his head again. This isn't even close to a filler movie.

Without a doubt. Recolours have been laughed off for years. Guess people shouldn't be so harsh on Sonic recolours when Goku's doing it. But what makes the movie is the character interactions and action. Not the plot, as it's nothing special at all.

By the way I read your review in the link and really like it. It's about what I'd think. Nit pickers and detail hungry people may be irked, but there's fun to be had. The scene work sounds really impressive and different from the usual anime style. It's just too bad the plot doesn't have nearly the draw Battle of Gods had.

Of course you can, unfortunately I don't think we'll ever see much of anything from Cooler beyond video games. We're more likely to get Rainbow Goku. It's just a matter of time.
