Gonna agree with Goku being way too freaking cocky in FnF, I dont speak for everyone that watched the movie but from what I saw and heard from Goku especially his tone Nozawa san did a good job portraying Goku's cockiness while Vegeta on the other hand is .... well (first the guy wanted a turn so bad that he attacks Goku in battle but after Freeza went Gold form he starts sweating and declines Goku's offer that they can switch now, actually I kinda think Goku was teasing Vegeta at that part, his voice was cocky like he knows Vegeta wont switch with him)

Isn't Vegeta supposed to be the overly cocky one considering his track record? Since when did Goku become the more openly cocky one?SansrivaaL wrote:Gonna agree with Goku being way too freaking cocky in FnF, I dont speak for everyone that watched the movie but from what I saw and heard from Goku especially his tone Nozawa san did a good job portraying Goku's cockiness while Vegeta on the other hand is .... well (first the guy wanted a turn so bad that he attacks Goku in battle but after Freeza went Gold form he starts sweating and declines Goku's offer that they can switch now, actually I kinda think Goku was teasing Vegeta at that part, his voice was cocky like he knows Vegeta wont switch with him)

I think Goku's only cocky because it's an opponent he has already defeated once before, Freeza. If it were someone completely new, I bet he wouldn't be as cocky. He still was a bit against Beerus in SSJ3, but that's mainly the form's fault.
Re: Official On-Going DBZ 2015 Movie Thread: "Resurrection '
Actually Kakarot was cocky even in base form when he says "Don't destroy this planet if I defeat you" (translated straight from my dub, don't remember what is said in the english version, but it is something similar).
Don't think Super Saiyan transformations still have some influence on its user in this aspect. Though I must say that Kakarot being that cocky was marvelous to see. I was a bit tired of seeing him like a truly human. Bring more Saiyan's traces to Kakarot.

Thats how I saw Goku too, unless Goku got one hell of a char development in a very bad direction or I have been watching a different DBZ this whole time. Vegeta was surprisingly calm while beating up Freeza while Goku was all over Freeza's face. Like when he was lecturing Freeza and asking him to leave and train more, actually throughout the movie everytime Goku talks I facepalm.... probably why I accepted that weak mob character that pierced his heart, instead of getting pissed I was actually happy deep down and was like (serves you right you cocky b'tch)dbzfan7 wrote:Isn't Vegeta supposed to be the overly cocky one considering his track record? What does Goten have to do with anything? When did I say Goten needs SSGSSJ? Yes I'm a Goten fan. He has NOTHING to do with anything. He's not even in movie. Adding content to the movie to help make the movie feel more complete rather than a filler arc(like Garlic) or movie (like Lord Slug). I haven't told you my standards.fexus wrote:But making it the first arc would not change the content in anyway. Thus making it still filler by your standard. Adding content about Freeza training would make no difference as you said Freeza is going to die anyway. So, making claims that the movie is filler but still insist on making it the first arc of DBS so that it wouldn't be filler is really stupid. Does adding Goten fighing some other of Freeza underling that is actually stronger than Cell and getting SSGSS would not make it filler?TheGmGoken wrote:
Nope. The entire movie felt like filler TO gain hype for DBS. And I said in DBS had this been the first arc, they should had expanded more and added more content to it. Such as Freeza training. So actually I'm suggesting to add more content in the movie.
@GokuBeingCocky. Didn't Popo and Roshi taught him NOT to be cocky? Now Whis is teaching him?

He was never this cocky. I think it has to do with the God powers. They have no limitations like SSJ3 or whatever.

This is a bizarre direction to take Goku. I always saw him as naive and a little too nice sometimes which leaves him vulnerable. I've never seen Goku as some overly cocky bragger. He can be cocky, but I haven't really thought that was a defining character trait for him.SansrivaaL wrote:Thats how I saw Goku too, unless Goku got one hell of a char development in a very bad direction or I have been watching a different DBZ this whole time. So I wonder where some other FNF reviews are. So far Kotaku has the best one I've seen after I read it.

He was just as cocky versus Popo, but he quickly became humble again.

"If you want I can go back to 2 for you".
My all-time favorite Kakarot's line. I wish I can see more of this cocky in Dragon Ball S.

Goten? He have nothing to do with this. Just feel like adding that.TheGmGoken wrote:What does Goten have to do with anything? When did I say Goten needs SSGSSJ? Yes I'm a Goten fan. So actually I'm suggesting to add more content in the movie.. Filler normally feels incomplete or not expanded upon. This movie(read wise) feels like that. So adding more stuff to flesh out the plot and not rushing things would make it feel complete. Making it the first arc can add more content to it and not be limited by runtime.
@GokuBeingCocky. Didn't Popo and Roshi taught him NOT to be cocky? Now Whis is teaching him?
That isn't filler. Filler is when they show something that isn't any all related or important and will not be brought up again. I don't even know how you think what you feel is an incomplete material filler.

Toriyama said that are differences between Manga Goku and Anime Goku, like how? Never read the whole manga.
Re: Official On-Going DBZ 2015 Movie Thread: "Resurrection '
Goku in the manga is much more selfish and isn't concerned about others as much.Noah wrote:Toriyama said that are differences between Manga Goku and Anime Goku, like how? Never read the whole manga.
Taking the Kaioken x20 scene for example; in the anime, Goku has a few nightmares of how Freeza killed everyone and then he goes on a big speech of how he's gonna protect them all and whatever. In the manga, he just says he's gonna go all-out and hopes Freeza's not bluffing.

Talking about the movies, Toei's Goku is portrayed like a superhero which isn't like Toriyama sees Goku at all.Doctor. wrote:Goku in the manga is much more selfish and isn't concerned about others as much.Noah wrote:Toriyama said that are differences between Manga Goku and Anime Goku, like how? Oh yeah he was a bit cocky then too but I kinda took that as he was just a kid and was ignorant at the time, on Beerus I blame the ssj3 heel power and him not sensing Beerus god ki but in FnF he's a grown man that has fought a lot of battles and can tell how powerful freeza was, also the tone, its much cockier than ssj3, maybe thats just nozawa san has improved a lot or like I said them wanting to portray Goku as more cocky now. Then again maybe I'm just reading too much into itDoctor. wrote:He was just as cocky versus Popo, but he quickly became humble again.

Think this is also valid to mention: Goku might not have a sense of family members like Gohan and Chi-Chi except as one of his companions.Noah wrote:Toriyama said that are differences between Manga Goku and Anime Goku, like how? Never read the whole manga.
This is also Saiyans' heritage. To Kakarot, Chi-Chi, Son Gohan and Son Goten are nothing more than companions.

There's multiple definitions of filler my friend. That isn't filler. Filler is when they show something that isn't any all related or important and will not be brought up again. I don't even know how you think what you feel is an incomplete material filler.

I think I like Toei/Anime "self-righteous" Goku more...

I personally don't, it makes him pretty generic. Goku may be more of a dick with Toriyama's version, but at least he's his own character.fadeddreams5 wrote:I think I like Toei/Anime "self-righteous" Goku more...
