Is this why Toriyama is writing DB again ?

When DB evolution was being made,Toriyama tried to give the studio advice on how to do it but as we know they said no to what he was saying so could this be the reason to why he's back ? because his pride is hurt ?

Based on this part " there were parts where I wanted to show some spine, with a world and story only the creator could draw"

it seems he wants to prove that he's the only one who can do DB right which wasn't the case before what happened with him and FOX cause if I'm not mistaken he used to say DB wasn't limited to him and was happy to see other people write it but now it seems he doesn't want anyone to get near it from a writing standpoint which was shown in BOG when he took over even though he wasn't asked to.

I like the "It was all an elaborate plot concocted by Torishima to get Toriyama interested in writing DB again" theory that was joked about that recent Kirblog; it reminds me of Hiramaru and his editor in Bakuman. So outrageously Dr. Slump-plotline-in-rl I'd kind of want it to be true. XD

Maybe DBE is indirectly responsible. Like, let's say that movie was successful and sparked sequels, then Dragonball would have a living franchise and Toriyama could've let FOX handle it. Since it flopped, however, that may have encouraged Toriyama to get involved and try to make something that would last.

It makes sense, but I don't think it's necessary. I mean, Dragon Ball Kai came out the same week that Evolution did, Yo! Son Goku and Friends Return!! was still relatively fresh, Episode of Bardock came out, as well as a steady flow of Dragon Ball games. I'm not complaining, but I don't think Evolution did THAT much damage.

I think it's possible after not working on the series for over 10 years, he miss working on the franchise and wanted to return. Series like Saint Seiya and Evagelion had their own creators return to own franchise after many years later.

It is kind of sad that hes so out of touch with the series now, that the newer stuff just comes out as bad as it is because he isnt in his creative mindset anymore. He honestly needs an assistant who actually knows the lore.... and Ooshi isnt much help, but still better than current Toryiama if just considering DB2008.

Probably got back into it since his kids have grown up. A lot of performers take themselves out of their business while the kids are small, then return after they are older. I see Garth Brooks did just that, returning to music after a 14 year absence...

Can anyone tell me if there is truth to the saying I heard that Battle of Gods was made because the Japanese Government awarded Toei $500,000 for Dragon Ball's traits of being timeless, having everlasting appeal, and being so successful? I heard that award is why they made it. They get Toriyama to help and then after the success they ask him to help with another, maybe giving a bonus for it. It's my theory. Plus, maybe he just wants to do more? Maybe he's being paid well to come back? Maybe he's just bored?

I know he hated Evolution (as did everyone else), but I feel like he got his revenge in Battle of Gods as he said he helped make it to get "personal revenge" for that film being made. I don't see Toriyama doing anything after that film because he is out for revenge against a movie we've all forgotten exists.

And nothing that Toriyama has contributed to the universe (so far) is bad. He's doing a great job and I think this new film will be excellent (including the new show). Whoever says that he's doing a "shit job" is a worse person than the Kikuchi score lovers.¹

TL;DR Toriyama is being paid to come back to the series, he is bored, or he just wants to do more for fun.

¹ Okay, the part about the Kikuchi lovers is a joke. But the people saying Toriyama is doing a bad job are still awful people.

The movie was going to be made before / whether or not they received any extra funding.

What you're referencing is the film's 50 million yen grant as a part of a non-profit program that aids the arts in international endeavors.
