I honestly love Schemmel as Goku. He's really grown into the role over the year and really now fits like a glove. I really don't know who Funi could get that could replace him.
Yeah, he has Goku nailed down like an art-form now. If they do cast someone else it might be like Season 3 all over again, but then FUNi have a much better acting poole now so it would at least be interesting.

I don't think they would risk enraging all the Schemmel and dub fans, regardless of whether they found a great actor for Goku or not.

Super airs when it comes out when I go on vacation. I really hope Funimation can announce streaming of the show on their website and on Hulu very soon. I can wait for a dub but I would love to watch the show while it's airing. I was not into DB when GT first started, so this is my chance to watch a brand new series airing as it was in Japan. I never get why Funimation never did any type of streaming when Kai was airing in Japan?

Most likely because there wouldn't be much interest due to it just being a recut of Z. The new dub ended up being the primary selling point later on. A new series like Super, however, I could see being streamed, since this is all new footage.

Simulcast streaming in 2009 wasn't quite at the level that it is today. Practically everything but the big toy franchises (Pokemon, Yugioh, Beyblade, Precure, etc) gets one now, but it was less of a guarantee back then.

Other possibilities:
  • Toei wanted a TV deal instead, since the streaming market was still new, and DBZ was pretty successful on US TV years ago.
  • Toei wanted far too much money, and FUNimation wasn't willing to risk it for what was essentially reruns.
  • Someone was just afraid of putting such a big cashcow online for free steaming, despite the giant elephant in the room.

I don't know if I can post it in here, but Weekly Shonen Jump has advertised something for "Super" in their May 23rd issue I presume.

V-Jump releases two days before, so I assume news will begin to start filtering through by then.

We have to be honest here too, both magazines will leak before then. Jump may be a about a week ahead, V-Jump could be close to that as well depending on who gets their hands on it and what their interests are.

ZeroTheSuperSaiyan wrote:thing is they were all different crews on different missions in different places so they could overlap but DBS and DBZ will be the same people in the same place so both can't happen at once
The point is they're all in the same continuity. In the entire span between the original Star Trek and Voyager, you never heard one word about Archer and his Enterprise, with people even pointing to a scene in The Motion Picture about it being an inconsistency. That doesn't mean they couldn't tell stories about that era.
the only way it would work is if they did one saga before meeting Uub, then one set say a year after meeting Uub like a time skip but they couldn't overlap unless it was with a new cast of characters
"Overlap" doesn't mean they have to show the exact same events, it means Super could start after Majin Buu but before the time skip and end at some point after Z's conclusion. Or Super could take place exclusively within the gap between the time skip, which still overlaps the time period spanning DBZ. I simply don't see the logic of how Super's timeframe could affect Uub at all or that Kai will finish with Uub meaning Super MUST take place after his introduction.

It'll all work out just fine.

It's a huge responsibility to bring the anime series back, after all these years. Toei shocked the entire world with this.
Hope they don't screw up.
A world without Dragon Ball is just boring.

Let's hope so. They took Sailor Moon Crystal criticism and improved heavily during second arc. I hope we don't have to get through 1 bad season and complain endlessly to eventually get something better.

Agreed. Schemmel's almost guaranteed to be in whatever form the Super dub takes. It wouldn't make any sense to recast him, even if he had to record via Skype, FUNi knows better. I think since the dub of Kai, they've kept all the good people and recasted the "meh" people.
Nothing matters (in a cosmic sense.) Have a good time.

Looks like an old picture, for some reason. :?

Well, think this breaks everyone's expectance... Kakarot will be the highlight forever. (I hate when they don't acknowledge the new movies. :x )

Hmm. Kinda odd that they went the manga route and didn't include Beerus (he's as much of an antagonist as Tenshinhan was) or Golden Freeza if it really is after the films.

There seems not have really new information, it's just a compilation of dragon ball z and assumptions, as in the first information about FnF, where first showed a Goku traditional gold SSJ
Favorite Character: Vegeta
Seconds favorites caracteres:Goku , Piccolo
Previously I like: Kid Gohan
I do not like: Adult Gohan
I hope more: Trunks and Goten
I claim for: A girlfriend and a happy life for Yamcha. Women SSJ
Hate: Send all women to take care of children, including A18.
Need more of: Ten Sin Han

Wouldn't read too much into the picture. It doesn't have Red Ribbon/Tao Pai-pai either, only one of the Piccolos etc

They seem to rank each villain with a star, ending with 7 stars on the new villain. I think they included Tenshinhan to make the 7 stars, otherwise, it would have been 6 stars. If they had included Beerus, they should have included Golden Freeza as well, which makes 9 stars with Tenshinhan, and 8 without him.

I really doubt they will make this before FnF, since they say that the new villain will be stronger than Boo & Freeza. There is no point in mentioning Freeza if they aren't talking about Golden Freeza.
James Teal (Animerica 1996) wrote:When you think about it, there are a number of similarities between the Chinese-inspired Son Goku and that most American of superhero icons, Superman. Both are aliens sent to Earth shortly after birth to escape the destruction of their homeworlds; both possess super-strength, flight, super-speed, heightened senses and the ability to cast energy blasts. But the crucial difference between them lies not only in how they view the world, but in how the world views them.

Superman is, and always has been, a symbol for truth, justice, and upstanding moral fortitude–a role model and leader as much as a fighter. The more down-to-earth Goku has no illusions about being responsible for maintaining social order, or for setting some kind of moral example for the entire world. Goku is simply a martial artist who’s devoted his life toward perfecting his fighting skills and other abilities. Though never shy about risking his life to save either one person or the entire world, he just doesn’t believe that the balance of the world rests in any way on his shoulders, and he has no need to shape any part of it in his image. Goku is an idealist, and believes that there is some good in everyone, but he is unconcerned with the big picture of the world…unless it has to do with some kind of fight. Politics, society, law and order don’t have much bearing on his life, but he’s a man who knows right from wrong.

Is it at all telling that they only have one space showing for a main villain?. Could it be "Super" will simply be one single Arc?. If so, I'm completely ok with this being the case. It's an unexpected bonus to be getting anything new at all with regards to a new Series.
