Re: Official Announcement Thread & Discussion
I can't place one of the kanji. But that is basically what it says from what I can tell.
(The bold one is really questionable...)
復活!!
天下一武道会。
真の最強は誰だ!!
Revival!
Tenkaichi Budokai.
Who is the true strongest?!!

Huh...I really don't want to get my hopes up, but if it's teasing the Budokai, maybe this really will be post-series with Oob.

Re: Official Announcement Thread & Discussion
I'm not sure the idea of us getting another tournament really helps with potential timeline placement either. There can obviously be one after Uub, as well as two held between Buu and Uub (at non regular intervals apparently). And if the number of years between the 25th and 28th aren't the same, then who knows when the 29th and beyond would be held since they don't have to stick to DBO dates.
Re: Official Announcement Thread & Discussion
I think Golden Freeza is missing because it'd throw off the old artwork composition if they used the new Toriyama art just for that.bubibartra wrote:Which would have a new bad guy already knew since the official announcement, this page does nothing new.
But man! I'm excited for this. Having my favorite character confirmed for a big role and getting a new episode every week; it's gonna be fun in the way that you can't have with the movies where we know the plot ahead of time. Full surprises, you guys. (☆▽☆)

Re: Official Announcement Thread & Discussion
Maybe it's the 29th Tenakchi Budokai. Goku returns with Uub many years later while a new villain shows up on Earth.
There's only four years left between after ROF and End of DBZ since ROF takes place in Age 779. Bluma said at the end of DBZ that she hasn't seen Goku in the last five years and end of DBZ takes place in Age 784. The 26th Tenkachi Budokai already happen since it happen during the events of Battle of Gods and Mr. Satan won.TheDevilsCorpse wrote:I'm not sure the idea of us getting another tournament really helps with potential timeline placement either. Re: Official Announcement Thread & Discussion
I know the years left, but I don't remember it ever being mentioned when the middle two tournaments specifically take place. Just that there should be two of them between Buu and Uub's 10 year gap and so they can't follow the old 3 or 5 year setup. Was there a mention about the (26th) tournament in Battle of Gods? I've only watched it subbed once.
I really don't think Toriyama cares about Bluma's line about not seeing Goku for 5 years though. He's already contradicting the manga by having 3 stories in a period previously said to be totally peaceful, and outright stated that , as the original author, he doesn't mind changing things.

No but it seems it like it takes place in that time era from what we know if I recall correctly.TheDevilsCorpse wrote: Was there a mention about the (26th) tournament in Battle of Gods?

Re: Official Announcement Thread & Discussion
It could, The tournaments were previously held 3 or 5 years apart, but neither number gets you from the 25th (774) to the 28th (784). So the years they're held are kinda irregular.
We just don't have a solid date for them, hence why I said the timeline doesn't really help. After the Buu stuff with Gohan getting stabbed and Vegeta blowing things up, they could have waited till 780 for the 26th and 782 for the 27th or something. :/

Re: Official Announcement Thread & Discussion
Hey guys, sorry to burst your bubble, but this image is fake.
Well, not fake exactly, but from 20 years ago. If you notice the publish date at the bottom, it says 5月23日火. 火 is short for 火曜日 (Tuesday). The 23rd of May this year doesn't fall in Tuesday, but in Saturday.
SO, this is a scan from 1995, when Dragon Ball was originally being published in Shonen Jump, right after Boo was defeated, and right before the 28th Tenkaichi Budoukai. Clearly, that "next character" is referring to Uub. The following sentence (under "DRAGON BALL" and next to Toriyama's name) says:
平和を取り戻した地球‼天下一武道会の最中に衝撃的な事件発生‼
Peace returned to Earth!! Shocking incident occurs in the midst of the Tenkaichi Budokai!!
Also, if you look at the right page, you can see the character Shingo Aoi, from Captain Tsubasa World Youth, which was also being published in Shonen Jump in 1995. I don't know about the other characters though.

Re: Official Announcement Thread & Discussion
Well, I guess that puts an end to that speculation.
Re: Official Announcement Thread & Discussion
Oh, I see.
I'm guessing that 190 is the price of the magazine in 95.

Re: Official Announcement Thread & Discussion
There is always a chance that we could see a 29th Tenkachi Budokai in Super or something before it. From what I can remember, Mr. Satan won the Tenkachi Budokais before the 28th one while Fat Buu always came in second place.

Huh, the image is old? Oh, well. Still, I do wonder what the villain of Dragon Ball Super could be.

Hopefully not another Saiyan or Cyborg. I hope for a god from the other universes that was brought up by Beerus in BOG.

That's correct! I believe the price now is between 230 and 280 yens.Chuquita wrote:Oh, I see.

I would like to see a Tenkaichi Budoukai too. I don't really mind if Super is set after EoZ or after FnF, both have pros and cons in my opinion. Like after EoZ we would have Uub or more Pan and Bra action, but everyone else would be older. And after FnF we would have more Whis training, but more possible contradictions and plot-holes, even though Toriyama said he wouldn't mind contradicting the original manga.
Another thing I would like is new music from Kikuchi. If that's not possible, at least from Hiroshi Takaki. I feel his music (as in Episode of Bardock, Plan to Eradicate the Super Saiyans and cutscenes in Ultimate Tenkaichi) has that kind of Dragon Ball feeling that Sumitomo's music lacks. His music in BoG has some good tracks, but generally is just meh.

Re: Official Announcement Thread & Discussion
So what day does V-Jump release this month? I'm sure it will leak 4-ish days before that so I'd like to have an idea when we might get something.
Re: Official Announcement Thread & Discussion
V-Jump releases May 21st. The image being old kinda gives me a sigh of relief, as I really hope this new series takes place just after "F".
I'm not bothered about Bulma saying she's not seen Goku for 5 years, it's just not that big of a deal for me.

So we'll probably see some stuff in about two weeks then? The wait will be grueling.DBZ_Lee wrote:V-Jump releases May 21st. The image being old kinda gives me a sigh of relief, as I really hope this new series takes place just after "F".

Re: Official Announcement Thread & Discussion
What can they do with in just four years? I don't see why we can't have Super take place after EOZ? Sure the cast may be a bit old, but Goku, Vegeta and the others are still old enough to be use in the story.
