I'm gonna go with when 18 breaks Vegeta's arm. It's in slow motion, you can see his arm bend allllll the way around her leg. It's nasty.

And also when Cell breaks Gohan's arm, that like...downpour of blood as the camera's panning up to his face.

I enjoyed Vegeta's injuries from No.18. He's been asking for that since he became a super saiyan. Didn't he call them the chick, the brat, and the big moron (18, 17, and 16 respectively)? It's pretty ironic that he made a comment about drinking milk too; its great for your bones. :)

You can call me Rick because I'm not actually Piccolo.
I missed out on all of the DB Movie fun, huh?
Point blank: it's gonna suck if you want it to. Personally, I'm seeing it as a comedy.

Oh yeah, that was all completely justified in every sense of the word. After he finally transformed, his ego went through the roof, and THAT'S saying something.

How about when Vegeta chops Gurd's(?) head off and then his head rolls with all the blood and stuff?

An other addition to that would be Gurd can still talk to the heros...urg!?!

18 kicked and tore his ligament(looks like it) on his arm! Vegeta begins to grone and in the end falls to his knees and yells in agany...to me this was one of the scariest moments in all of Dragonball to me!(early fandom...)

I think that moment is more violent in the manga where he uses his hand to do it rather than the beam he used in the anime.

Cell sucking everybody up into his tail was pretty gruesome, not violent but gruesome, I meaning it was like sucking everything from your insides and you become a piece of skin and get sucked in too. 17 kicking Dr Gero's head off and then stepping on it, is very violent, I mean you could see his eyeballs rolling around the floor! So these would be my 2nd and 3rd.

Wait only violent moments in the anime?
If so, I'am sorry...
Raditz's death in the anime then, he spits blood twice! It was cool 8)

yes the death of Raditz was very violent. But I always saw that Gohan kicking Cell so hard that he spit out Cyborg/Android 18 was the most violent.

I'm in the generation of fans that started with Toonami, so I totally empathize with the feeling of having "missed the party", experiencing disappointment, and wanting to experience it myself. But I can't, that's how life is. Time is a bitch. The party is over. Kageyama, Kikuchi, and Maeda are off the sauce now; Yanami almost OD'd; Yamamoto got arrested; Toriyama's not going to light trash cans on fire and hang from the chandelier anymore. We can't get the band back together, and even if we could, everyone's either old, in poor health, or calmed way the fuck down. Best we're going to get, and are getting, is a party that's almost entirely devoid of the magic that made the original one so awesome that we even want more.

About the posts about Vegeta's injury being too gruesome, this is the same (little) man that didn't even care if his wife or son died. He's honestly been asking for that for some time (probably since he's been wearing the "badman" shirt).

Hmm, there is actually a lot of violent moments in Dragonball, but I'd have to go with these:

Baby Gohan dragging Vegeta's head into the concrete and then chucking him into a wind turbine in GT.

Frieza ripping Nail's arm off and breaking his ribs.

Future Trunks impaling Kogu with a punch (not sure if that's brutal, but just imagine someone punching through you. That has to hurt) in Bojack Unbound.

..andddd that's all I can think of. I tried to think of some that were probably not listed (I haven't yet read through the the whole thread) as of now. I tried to not go with the obvious choices like Krillin getting impaled or Gohan and his fight with the Cell Juniors.
Majin Buu: So, hotshot, you want to fight Majin Buu?
Gohan: Fight you? No. I want to kill you.

Gohan: Now I'll show you why my little brother looks up to me.
Majin Buu: He doesn't. In fact, he wonders why you let me absorb him.

Future Gohan: You cannot gain without first suffering the pain of loss.

Gohan: 16, you loved life. You gave everything up to save it. And you were just an Android. I let you die...I can't do that...I won't watch anymore. I...I feel it slipping. And I won't watch this anymore!

Goku: Gohan! You've got to take Cell down now before he can regenerate!
Gohan: Take him down now? No, I think I'll wait. I'm going to let him suffer for a little while.

Reading through now, I didn't realize this thread was so old, but I'm going to post anyway.

I think the most violent moment was when Gero squeezed that civilian's head off. Specifically the manga version and, more specifically, these panels:

Runner up would probably be the Spopovitch vs. Videl fight. I remember the anime being particularly brutal.

Whilst not the goriest for some reason Piccolo Vs. 17 always struck me as a particularly brutal fight. They punch one another so hard their bodies contort in VERY unnatural ways. Piccolo getting his neck snapped and a hole blown through him by Cell after didn't help.

Definitely should make a new thread. 10 years is too long, I think.

Meta Cooler holding Goku by the neck and squeezing it. That always makes me cringe. :(
