"Dragon Ball Super" Series Official Announcement & Discussion Thread
Re: Official Announcement Thread & Discussion
My guess is a logo and an official website opening up.
On hiatus.
Re: Official Announcement Thread & Discussion
I really hope it's some information, or at least something Super related. I'd be more than happy with a logo and a Website opening.

Re: Official Announcement Thread & Discussion
Well this bugs me. It's just ピッコロ記念日 in Japanese. The "king" part isn't there anywhere. And the "commemoration" part is redundant, because 記念日 is used as a suffix for these types of anniversaries or holidays, the same way just "day" is in English.TheDevilsCorpse wrote:"King Piccolo Commemoration Day." Ajay just posted the panel last page:
Spoiler:
I don't remember what FUNimation used in either the dub or subs, but I'm sad that Viz didn't just call it "Piccolo Day." Coincidentally, it also ends up being the day the Ma Jr. Piccolo is born.

I hope we get some good information, I'd love to know when Super's going to take place and get some other general info, but I don't think we'll get anything more than a picture of the cast, and the website opening.

Isn't "King Piccolo" just the way Viz translates Piccolo Daimao?TripleRach wrote:Well this bugs me. It's just ピッコロ記念日 in Japanese. The "king" part isn't there anywhere. Probably (I haven't read the Viz version). But the issue was that it didn't say "Piccolo Daimaou" there. Just "Piccolo." Sometimes he's just called "Piccolo," the same as his son/reincarnation.Doctor. wrote:Isn't "King Piccolo" just the way Viz translates Piccolo Daimao?
I mostly just wanted to help explain why people would call it "Piccolo Day."

This image still bothers the hell out of me after all this time. Like, that's clearly supposed to be Goku at the front, but his bangs make him look more like Mystic/Ultimate Gohan in his Super Saiyan state or something.TheDevilsCorpse wrote:

The Funi dub does in fact call it Piccolo Day, however it is on May 13th instead of May 9th.TripleRach wrote:Well this bugs me. It's just ピッコロ記念日 in Japanese. The "king" part isn't there anywhere. A cast picture would be ideal; in a single stroke it'd answer two of our biggest questions, "When does this take place?" and "Who will the main characters be?"

same here although I would also like to know when exactly it takes place after FnF or after EoZDBZ_Lee wrote:I really hope it's some information, or at least something Super related. I'd be more than happy with a logo and a Website opening.

Re: Official Announcement Thread & Discussion
If the series happens right after Resurrection 'F' (which is unconfirmed for now since we have no specific info as to when it takes place exactly), then Goten and Trunks won't be any different.
Mai hasn't grown up in the movie, so neither have Goten and Trunks. They won't make a teen-like Trunks date a much smaller kid-like Mai.
Whether it happens after the movie or after the original story's epilogue, I'm okay either way, but I'd find it more logical that Toriyama would keep going with his new story that he started with the new movies.
I can't imagine something like "and now, after what you just saw in theaters, we skip to a time where Goku and Vegeta are not Whis' pupils anymore and where Goku has a pupil of his own. What happened in the meantime? How did the training with Whis conclude? You'll never see that for the upcoming years, come back much later - someday, MAYBE... - to see what's next in the story you just saw a few weeks ago!"

Which would be a total shame, supposing Dragon Ball S takes place after the movie, being a little more specifically, around Age 780, then Trunks is 14 and Son Goten 13. Come on...

So around what time in Japan are we expecting that website to update? I would assume somewhere between 7AM to Noon over there.
Re: Official Announcement Thread & Discussion
I'm torn on if I want Super to pick up after F or after the manga. I want more Whis training Gokû and Vegeta while Beerus does stuff, but on the other hand I want more EoZ Pan and getting to see Vegeta and Bra interact.

I honestly want Dragon Ball Super to take place after the manga. Then the show will feel much more unpredictable and there is less restrictions to the story and narrative.Chuquita wrote:I'm torn on if I want Super to pick up after F or after the manga. Please, please let Super take place shortly after "F". I want more SSGSS, and Whis training the Saiyans.

Re: Official Announcement Thread & Discussion
My ideal Super takes place after the manga ends, with Goku training Uub and Pan. Beerus and Whis can show up as supporting characters, but the idea of getting to see new characters take up the mantle appeals to me more than Whis training Goku and Vegeta.
Don't be too alarmed if I just don't show up for a few months. Hooray for fleeting interests!

I don't think there could be a less important reason to keep Trunks & Goten stuck in child bodies because... Mai needs a kid boyfriend lol. Let's hope Toriyama/Toei don't even think about that, the entire Mai-Trunks joke should just be dropped alreadyCold Skin wrote: Mai hasn't grown up in the movie, so neither have Goten and Trunks. Agree, which is why I didn't expect new series till Movie #3 was released and tied into EOZ somehow. But here we are. The fact that they seem to be in a hurry to start airing right after Kai seems to indicate post-Kai setting, but it does rather conflict with the little BOG-ROF plot going onCold Skin wrote: I can't imagine something like "and now, after what you just saw in theaters, we skip to a time where Goku and Vegeta are not Whis' pupils anymore and where Goku has a pupil of his own. Re: Official Announcement Thread & Discussion
You know, maybe Dragon Ball Super could do like a few prologue episodes that shows what the Z-Fighters were doing in the five years between RF and EOZ. Goku and Goten could be secretly training with Whis, #17 could meet up with #18 and Krillin (Toriyama stated this did happen), Tien and Lunch interacting (Again, Toriyama stated this happened), Vegeta dealing Bulma being pregnant with Bulma and dealing with Bra herself when she's born and Yamach unsuccessful love life (Toriyama stated this happened, too). At has all the making for a slice of life take on Dragon Ball. Then... fast forward ten years... and new adventures begin.DBZ_Lee wrote:Please, please let Super take place shortly after "F". My opinion only of course, but for me, everyone is just too old post Manga. I quite like the idea of being left to decide for myself what happened after the 28th Budokai.Lord Beerus wrote:You know, maybe Dragon Ball Super could do like a few prologue episodes that shows what the Z-Fighters were doing in the five years between RF and EOZ. Though if Super does indeed take place after the timeskip, then it is what it is.
