"Dragon Ball Super" Series Official Announcement & Discussion Thread

I fear the logo will be very busy and overdesigned, because the announcement makes it a point to say that the "Super" part is spelled 超 (Chou) in Japanese characters but "Super" in English letters. So the logo will probably have a big "SUPER" symbol in English letters, and then the 超 Japanese character somewhere near it in addition to the Japanese phonetic explanation of the "SUPER" part, スーパー, and since they're mixing English and Japanese they'll probably have the "Dragon Ball" part in Japanese too in addition to English. That's a lot.

Obviously would like a new design/color-palette rather than reworked Z logo but yeah, proportions like this work. KAI word is way too big in DBKai logo, the entire thing is overdesigned to me. Simpler and less 'in your face' (esp on Super part) like yours would be preferrable.

I actually like Kai's logo on a basic level. The little lightning bolt coming off the K is a little much and they probably could have shifted BALL a little to the left and tossed the kanji there instead of at the end of KAI. But other than that, I like the design and I wouldn't mind if Super's logo was reminiscent of it. As I'm not particularly fond of the various other logo's having disconnected elements for " ドラゴンボール" and prefer how it's included on the main KAI part of the logo here.

With Super rumoured to debut the same weekend as Anime Expo, do you think maybe FUNi will announce a simulcast at the Expo?.
Would be a good time to do so, with the hype at boiling point, in anticipation of the opening episode.

Then I'd be able and want to see the mantle passed on to new characters.

Just my opinion of course I personally like seeing Whiss point out Vegeta/Goku's weaknesses and train them to go beyond what they taught was possible.

I do NOT expect that to happen EVER, but that would be nice. The guy's been through the wringer. Ever since becoming a good man, he doesn't really have anything to show for it, battle-wise.

WHAT ANNOUNCEMENT?

The Dragon Ball Super Saiyan Special Site has been promising a big announcement for the franchise on May 9th for a while. It's the Tenshinhan "Special" panel. We have no idea what it's actually about, but seeing how we had a new series just recently announced, there is a chance it could relate to it. Or it may not... We'll just have to wait and see when they announce whatever it is a little later today.

I don't remember if school is in session or not at this time of year, but it seems like most announcements are made later in the day when kids are home regardless. Super was announced at like 3AM here, which would have been 5PM in Japan?

My wild guess is that the announcement will be around prime time. Perhaps 8 or 9 pm in Japan.

Oh, and the official Dragon Ball Heroes Twitter posted this two hours ago: "We will deliver it a miss experience meeting a lot of Dragon Ball content!"

Which I think it could mean not only we will see Dragon Ball S related, but for the Dragon Ball franchise as a whole.
