It's up on Mojo http://www.boxofficemojo.com/movies/?pa ... lz2014.htm Gotta remember that Mojo will slacks with foreign updates movies get properly released in StatesBullza wrote:Still the gross in Thailand was never tracked for Battle of Gods so this is all an advantage for it regardless.
Re: Resurrection F Box Office - ¥3.28 billion ($29.16 millio
Oh I didn't know they still tracked Thailand. So BoG did $60,000 and then RoF did $1.66 million? Bit of a jump but if that's what it says I can't really argue with it.
Maybe it got a much wider release or something. A total of 15 screens for BoG doesn't seem like much.

Re: Resurrection F Box Office - ¥3.28 billion ($29.16 millio
Monday to Wednesday estimated gross - ¥36 million
Total - ¥3.316 billion
Even though this movie has made more money than the last one I'm not sure if it's going to end up making that much more that if a sequel is made it'll really warrant the 3D or all those extra screens again.
Edit: Box Mojo have updated their figures so I'll be updating the OP soon.
They haven't included Thailand but have included Malaysia (which I didn't know it had opened in) and it made $129,000 there and was #4.

Looks like ROF is really starting to run of steam in Japan. It may not even make ¥3.5 billion in the end.

Re: Resurrection F Box Office - ¥3.28 billion ($29.2 million
I just realised a goof I made, when I was referring to Thailand I meant Taiwan. That's what I meant by Box Mojo not tracking it in the country.
Box Mojo don't track Taiwan anymore but according to anime news network Battle of Gods was released there. The movie probably did make more than $50 million in the end.
This movie also looks like it's out in Singapore though it's not on the charts.
It looks like June 18 is when the box office for this movie will shoot up again because it's scheduled for release in a bunch of countries around that time including Brazil, Chile, Mexico, Peru and a half dozen more.
Then the following week it releases in Argentina which was BoG's third biggest market after Japan and Mexico.
It'd be good if the movie could surpass Battle of Gods worldwide total by the end of June.

I think the Latin American countries, Mexico, Peru, Chile, Brazil etc., are gonna do big business for ROF considering how much of a huge Dragon Ball fandom there is in those countries.

I think the biggest difference will be in the international box office.

Battle of Gods made about $15 million in Latin/South America. It's biggest markets were Mexico, Argentina, Peru, Brazil, Chile, Colombia and Venezulea where the movie made $1 million+.
Hopefully thus movie really improves on it and makes over $20 million.

I'm expecting much bigger business in Latin America than just increase to $20m. Especially as Fox is distributing themselves this time. $30m is absolutely doable with better roll-out & Fox marketing network, Latin America markets are growing every year
Every new added country will make a difference. I can understand that new DBZ movie wasn't exactly a super easy sell after so many years but these flicks have easily $100m worldwide potential with proper releases. Toei should be more aggresive securing distribution deals and with their relationship with Fox. Esp in Europe, it's insance that BOG skipped theathrical release in countries like France, Germany or Poland where DB was huge and is widely rememberedbubibartra wrote:

I think some people don't realize how HUGE this grossing is for Dragonball already, even if it stopped right there and didn't make any more money at all.Lord Beerus wrote:Looks like ROF is really starting to run of steam in Japan. It may not even make ¥3.5 billion in the end.
Let's put it under perspective: in 2014, FnF would be in the top 10 of the year right now. The few animations which ranked higher would be Doraemon, Conan and Frozen. As comparison, The Last - Naruto the movie earned 1.75 billion (US$14.76 million at the time), and that was the most successful movie of the franchise. That also means Dragonball, despite having ended long ago, is the 2nd biggest Jump franchise, after One Piece.
FnF still has three weekends to cover, so ¥3.5 billion sounds about right - it'll probably be in the top 10 of this year, when 2015 ends.
So yes, it is a big hit and i doubt Toei will stop put'em out anytime soon.
Yeah, i'm 99% sure this movie will do better than BoG everywhere. for another simple reason too: earlier releases this time. Western markets got BoG only after blu-ray and dvd copies were released in Japan, making subbed releases available, obviously hurting the movie's performance in the end. And Fox backing up the movie internationally is a big plus too.Basaku wrote:Every new added country will make a difference. Yeah Battle of Gods could have made more money but it's late release didn't help it at all, it was online long before most countries got the movie.
Latin/South America got BoG about 6-7 months after it's release in Japan but this time around they're getting RoF only 2 months after Japan.
Then they're releasing it in more countries and its run may not be as limited. I'd hope for $25 million in the territory but I like to keep my expectations low.
Anyway Estimate as of Friday = ¥3.34 billion

Won't it be in theaters for another month ? if so then I think it'll be able to surpass the 3.5 mark.Lord Beerus wrote:Slowly but steady. Regardless, progress is progress. It could actually make it ¥3.5 billion after all.
July 9th 2018 will be remembered as the day Broly became canon.

Ticket sales across the 40-45% theatre share this Saturday are only off about 19.5% from last Saturday which might make up for it's hefty drop last weekend.
Hopefully it holds up as well tommorow. It wouldn't be impossible for it to make ¥100 million this weekend but it'd probably need a good amount of luck to do it.
It's had some pretty big drops since release so it'd be nice if could stabilise in it's last few weeks.
