Holy cow... wow. So much feedback for this idea! I personally would love to have a part (or several, if I can manage them) in bringing this project together. It sounds absolutely awesome!
One of the things I really want to do in this is voice-acting (I know, who the heck doesn't? @_@). I've got a pretty decent (and cheap! xD) mic on me that I can use, and while I don't do it as often as I've liked, I've acted in a couple of plays before and know a few basic acting techniques (though I'm honestly not sure how well I can do with any long screaming...
First off! I know (after reading straight through eight pages of comments on this thread) that most everybody's in a hype about this project, but unless it gets some serious organization soon, it's gonna fall apart. I propose, then:
A list. We need to get names and information for everyone on the forum who's voiced interest in this fan-dub. Someone needs to compile this, with information about who wants to participate, their contact information (email, instant messaging if they have it, phone number if they're comfortable with it, that kind of thing), what jobs they're thinking of helping out with, if they're going to audition for roles (when it gets that far), etc. etc. Since I figured we'd need this, I'll probably volunteer to go profile-hunting to gather what information we need, though this relies a lot on everybody else's cooperation. Kaboom, you seem to be doing a good job with trying to figure out who's willing to help with the big jobs, but a quick list of everyone else who wants a part wouldn't hurt. That way we can update everyone on the status of the project, when certain things (like voice-acting auditions, etc.) are being done, and give everyone else a way to figure out who they might need to get in contact with for help with their parts. (And the updates are really important... I mean, not everybody visits the forum every day, and they're bound to miss something if they don't know about it beforehand!) You know?
Anyway, like I said, I'm willing to help put together said list. I'm also willing to assist in writing the script when I can (I can write pretty well when the occassion calls for it), and I would LOVE to have a part in helping directing, at least as far as directing voice talent goes. I can review any voice clips people have recorded and provide feedback for what sounds great, what needs to be worked on, etc. (though if you want me to help, you might want to let me know before you eventually start the auditions so I can get a jump-start directing and critiquing the VAs once they're chosen... it'd be much better to do it that way, I think). I don't know how well this particular part of directing is going to go, considering we're doing this over the internet instead of working in booths alongside the voice-actors giving them feedback as they go along, but I'll certainly try my best to make it work. A final thing I could probably help with is with the video editing, though I know I probably can't do very much in that area--I'm not that experienced in putting videos together, and I've only got Windows Movie Maker, so I don't know if that would turn out any good or if I could make it that good in a timely manner. So you'll be definitely needing someone else to take the primary responsibility for the video-editing, I'm afraid.
If all else fails and we don't get word from anybody who has the DragonBox footage, we could always make a petition to get their attention, or have someone communicate with them to see if they can get it. Anybody have a high Charisma score around here who could do that? (OMG, cheesy reference! Oh the noes!)
Wow, that sure was a lot of type... I hope you're not too mad about it! ;__;
