Cell... boring and unmemorable? What world did I just step into?

Most... That's exactly the issue when some of the undeveloped are supposed to/should be an important character. :shifty:

I partially agree with Doctor. While I like imperfect Cell, Perfect Cell was pretty boring and unmemorable for me, too. I think that with the recent great "villain" Beerus, I think we'll get at least a decent villain in Super.

Like who, really? Goku, Vegeta, Piccolo and Gohan, the four main characters of part 2, all got extensive development. Kuririn, Yamcha and Bulma developed too, although much more subtly. In terms of villains, Boo is an obvious one and Resurrection 'F' showcases some for Freeza. The only "main" characters you can say didn't develop are Tenshinhan and Cell, I guess.

I personally found him like that. Imperfect Cell was interesting at first but after revealing what he was and what he wanted to do like, what, 2 chapters after his introduction, he become incredibly generic to me and lost all of the mysterious and scary feel he had. Semi-Perfect Cell is usually self-explanatory and Perfect Cell really wasn't anything more than a rehash of every villain that came before him (more-so Freeza), which fits with his character since that's what he literally is, but doesn't make him very memorable

This might end in just a Goku & Vegeta show

I would recommend you to be a little more positive, but we're talking about Dragon Ball with modern Toriyama, then I also don't want you to be upset if this turns out to be true. Try to be neutral/not expecting too much, it's the best way.

The good news is that series format, compared to short movies, will naturally make Toriyama run out of ideas to devote everything to Goku/Vegeta so inadvertently other characters will get their own plots and not just "throwing a bone" scenes like in ROF or pointless renunion party gags like in BOG. I won't even complain (THAT loud but I still will quite loud) if it will still be Goku/Vegeta stealing the kill at the end and everyone thanking them, as long as other characters get extensive meaningful screentime.

Well if you're going to be upset unless Yamcha or Chaozu gets the win over a big bad then you are probably in for grave disappointment.

The only time Z wasn't "a Goku&Vegeta show" was during the Cell arc so chances are they're going to be the top 2 of the story but that doesn't mean other characters aren't going to get to shine just don't expect it to be on the level that Gohan&Trunks had during the Cell arc.

I feel confident that Super will give side characters good treatment. The new movies have to move at a brisk pace - Super's definitely getting at least a saga or two in, with even more being likely too. I don't expect Tenshinhan to suddenly be capable of taking out a for stronger than Buu, but there's going to be more room to give side characters screentime.
Don't be too alarmed if I just don't show up for a few months. Hooray for fleeting interests!

That's what some fans mean when they say they want other characters to shine which doesn't make sense from a business and a story standpoint.

Surviving saiyans would be a rehash of Radditz, Saiyan Saga Vegeta or Broli. You can't do much with surviving saiyans these days without rehashing them. Even Tullece was just Radditz 2.0 in my opinion.
Raditz and Vegeta don't count as they were introducing the saiyan race and the fact they were almost extinct.

Turles and Broly I will give you even though Turles and Raditz were very different characters.

If Toriyama did go with a surviving saiyan plot which I doubt it would be much better then Turles or Broly, I personally think having a female SSJ show up and want to mate with Goku or Vegeta would get excellent character progression for both characters.

They weren't in Buu either.

Vegeta was gone for most of it and only showed up at the end.

Goku mostly sat around..but did take out Buu at the end

I want a good focus on Goku and Vegeta in the new series.. with some new characters

notsureifserious.jpg at the 'mating' part, but I definitely agree if we got another surviving Saiyan it should be a badass warrior Saiyan female in Goku/Vegeta's age group. That perspective was always lacking in the lore

This is Dragon Ball. Which doesn't follow the dramatic/cliche pattern where a character has to have a tragic past and cry about it everytime, like happens most of the time these days.
Tired of that bullshit. Toriyama can make more interesting characters without going the emo way.

A world without Dragon Ball is just boring.

Favourite old DB Animators: Masaki Sato and Tadayoshi Yamamuro
Favourite new DB Animators: Yuya Takahashi and Chikashi Kubota

Um... Future Trunks, Future Gohan, Vegeta, Goku, Gohan? Dragon Ball is filled with tragic pasts, they just don't go as in-depth as other series do, or they actually show us in "real time" instead of flashbacks.

Goku&Vegeta had their rematch in this arc.
Vegeta's sacrifice was in this arc.
Goku demonstrated the final Ssj form in this arc.
Goku&Vegeta were the only 2 Z fighters who fought the final battle.

If these 4 plot points don't say it was their show then what will ?
