What if Sunrise or Madhouse had the rights of Dragonball
What if Sunrise or Madhouse had the rights of Dragonball
What would you think if studio Madhouse or Sunrise had the rights of Dragonball? I believe that the results would be great considering of anime of these studios (Code Geass, Claymore, Death Note, DMC etc) and also that Toei Animation is infamous for its drawnings. Your opinion??

The animation on average would be much better. And... that's pretty much it.

It'd be a hell of a lot more faithful to the source material if they had done the original anime too. Soundtrack would be a step down, however, Kikuchi is too good.Lord Beerus wrote:The animation on average would be much better. And... that's pretty much it.

It would may had much much more detailed animation i think and many more 3D aspects. I am deeply disappointed from the animation of the latest DBZ movie 0/10....

Do you mean Battle of Gods? 'Cuz Resurrection "F" is the best I have seen Dragonball animated in a long time, and it has the more of the 3D aspects you mentioned.Periskir wrote:It would may had much much more detailed animation i think and many more 3D aspects. I honestly think the new animation since BOG has ben really good. And I've heard that Ressurection F has some of the best animation the franchise has seen in many years.Periskir wrote:It would may had much much more detailed animation i think and many more 3D aspects. I really really don't like the way faces are drawn Dragonball. Angular-triagular eyes and fried-potato-like eyebrows I know that the style of mangaka cannot change but i believe that other studios can "improve" it somehow in some way... Eg. the difference of styles Yugioh between two studios... -it's the only example i can remember now-...

With Sunrise, it depends on what studio you are referring to.

We would've not had the Kikuchi score, Nozawa's Goku and Hidenori Arai's sound effects. I don't want to lose so many iconic things only in exchange for superior animation.
Re: What if Sunrise or Madhouse had the rights of Dragonball
I mean the studio of Fate series, Code Geass etc..
Re: What if Sunrise or Madhouse had the rights of Dragonball
Why not? It was Toriyama who picked her after all, not the studio.kei17 wrote:Nozawa's Goku

Are sound effects related to the studio?
Re: What if Sunrise or Madhouse had the rights of Dragonball
It's not that he voluntarily chose her. Nozawa attended the audition held by Toei and Toriyama chose her after hearing her performance. If it's not Toei, maybe they could've not given any audition from the beginning.Doctor. wrote:Why not? It was Toriyama who picked her after all, not the studio.kei17 wrote:Nozawa's Goku
No, but they chose Arai because he did for Dr. Slump.Periskir wrote:Are sound effects related to the studio?
Re: What if Sunrise or Madhouse had the rights of Dragonball
This topic might as well be "What if Toei Animation Didn't Dick Around With Dragon Ball". The concept really isn't any different, given Toei Animation very well could do a great series or movie. Sunrise isn't much better than Toei Animation currently is, anyway. They have multiple series and OVAs in the works, all of which have had rushed production schedules, too. Madhouse rarely has great fight scenes in their long running series, either. I wouldn't even say the directing in their long-running series is better than what Toei Animation has pulled off, either. Hunter x Hunter had poor use of mood, music and lighting and the recent Hajime no Ippo: Rising was a poorly cobbled together rush job with the most putrid music placement I've heard since Dragon Ball Kai.

The animation would be better, art would probably be more consistent, and presumably they'd do it in seasons or something instead of having filler, but I get the sense that it would feel less charming, somehow. If there's one thing Toei's actually pretty good at it's bringing out the innate charm of a series, which isn't really a quality I associate with Madhouse or Sunrise.
The Fate shows (assuming you mean Zero and Unlimited Blade Works) are animated by Ufotable, which isn't affiliated with Madhouse or Sunrise.Periskir wrote:I mean the studio of Fate series, Code Geass etc..

He may means the first HxHof 1999.
Re: What if Sunrise or Madhouse had the rights of Dragonball
No, that was done by Nippon Television. JulieYBM is specifically referring to the Madhouse 2011 anime adaptation.Periskir wrote:He may means the first HxHof 1999.
He linked this on Twitter, so it should pretty much cover what he means:
