I wanted to create a tune that kids would hum as they went home from school, and as they hummed it, it would feel like power was welling up inside them.

I also wanted to convey my image of Goku: kind, powerful, and sexy too.

The intro up to the first verse have the image of flying together as a family. Yukinojō Mori is someone I really admire and respect as a songwriter, so getting to make this song with him was absolutely super! I feel like I grew stronger and stronger while making it.

The recording was handled by LA’s trusted musicians and staff! Fantastic!! Look forward to it!

Strange choice of words for a children's show, but... My 8 year old niece was telling me one of her classmates actually draws adult Goku very well, and all the other girls want to buy him the pictures saying "Oh! He's so handsome!", "Goku is so nice and dreamy!". And this boy snorts, waves at them and says "If you think this is hot, when you see him shirtless you will say 'Oh he is glorious'"

I'm not kidding. Those were her exact words.

I think Goku is kind, he's oblivious most of the time and well, not particularly considerate because he's an airhead and a fighting maniac, but when you compare him to say, Vegeta, he's definitely a kind guy

And of course he's sexy, but it's hilarious to hear that as a serious adjective in a serious interview for the opening theme

How's it normally used in Japanese?
I was under the impression it's used the way it's normally used in English, especially because sexy is written out in katakana.

If they meant in a fun, cool way, wouldn't they have used "kakkoi"? The singer could've used word instead if they wanted.
I think Nozawa's used kakkoi to refer to Gokû before.

Maybe this singer really means sexy like sexy? I dunno.

Believe me, back in 1996 I knew in advance Goku would grow up for the 23rd tournament. All the girls in the block came together to a friend's house to watch it. It was an EVENT. When he appeared on screen we squealed like the teen fan girls we were. "Sexy" has pretty much always been there for us.
