I dunno, I'd say he goes out of his way to carry out some extreme acts of kindness in the Manga - such as gathering the Dragonballs to revive Bora on a promise to Upa, or helping Android 8 achieve freedom, or sacrificing his own life to save the Earth on two separate occasions. Sure, I get that kindness isn't his primary motive for fighting most of the time, but aside from his own selfish desire to push beyond limits and fight stronger opponents, he has done some pretty remarkably nice things for strangers.

It's in Vegeta's "number 1" speech, isn't it? He describes Gokû as being kind.

He also says "you never killed your enemies" which is just factually incorrect. I mean, most of the people Goku killed were before the saiyan arc so Vegeta wasn't around to see it, but he was there for, uh, Yakon I guess.

(And all that being said I'd still describe Goku as a very kind person. The fact that he has other traits which can lead to him taking questionable actions does not mean he isn't kind.)

btw, it seems they are finally starting to sparingly release information.

You think the plot will be too kid friendly because is going to be on sunday mornings? Do we have any other example of series at that time-slot? Kai was supposed to be there, right?

You guys can forget about the good old times when we saw mutilation, gore, impalement, blood, blood vomit and all these beautiful things that we had back then in the manga and anime in the 90s

DB Super will be indeed a kid friendly show for actual days format

It's the same timeslot. One Piece, Fairy Tail, Toriko, Reborn!, World Trigger, Ace of Diamond, even Hunter x Hunter aired/air in the morning.
These days, the content wouldn't be different if it aired at, say, 7:30 pm, as most shonen series get morning timeslots. Except for Tv Tokyo (which isn't as big as Fuji or Asahi), the major networks pretty much gave up on prime time anime.

The standards are obviously different now (some people in the business blame Evangelion for that, but i digress), but all those things you've mentioned are in One Piece, for instance. Well, except for gore, but i wouldn't say Dragonball was ever a "gory" series either.

That said, if Toei is willing, they can show blood. Even Saint Seiya Omega had blood and some intense scenes.

I don't think it really matters if there is blood and gore since DB is not some type of franchise that needs it. It's not Mortal Kombat or Hellsing. Just give us good story telling and that's all you really need.

Shows on Sunday Morning slots can be dark too. Just like at Kamen Rider Gaim for example. A show that is dark and has strong story telling is a kid shows for the ages of 4 - 13.

Well, I guess if there is already evidence of shows with similar time slots having compelling stories and fights I guess things will be alright then.

Dragon Ball was never a R rated franchise to being with. I watch DBZ for fun action, good characters and entertaining story telling. I don't get why fans feel like DBZ needs to have blood, guts, over the top swearing, sex and rape. Watch something else if you want those things.

To add to it, Cure Flora killed a sub-boss several weeks ago.
Granted the sub boss did a monster transformation before hand where he was all humanoid at the beginning of the fight..

Also, a few years back, main character Mana was shown bleeding after getting bit by a dog in the Doki movie.
On hiatus.

Would you rather see a drastic change in the art style for Dragon Ball, or just a better imitator?
Neither, but if I had to choose between the two, I'd pick the former.

This alone makes them amazing.

I hope its not TOO kid friendly, I'd like it to be like Gintama or Hunter x Hunter with its blood or w/e (which unfortunately, I think is a pipe dream :( )
Tim Duncan is dope and forever.

While I agree I don't like gore there is quite the amount of violence in the series. From the top of my head:

-Goku gets a hole in his chest.
-Nappa blows up a city.
-Yamcha explodes.
-Tenshinhan loses his arm.
-Chaoz self-destruct.
-Vegeta breaks almost every bone on Goku's body.
-Beats the crap out of Gohan.
-Old namek people getting their heads smashed in.
-Namek warriors getting their necks snapped.
-Namek children getting scorched.
-Kiwi, Dodoria and Zarbon getting different levels of blasted.
-Guldo decapitation.
-Recoom beating Vegeta to an inch of his life.
-Gohan getting his neck broken by Recoom.
-Vegeta finishing off Recoom and Butter.
-Krillin getting gored by Freeza.
-Freeza wrecking Vegeta
-Vegeta dying
-Krillin exploding into red mist
-Freeza getting sliced
-Trunks killing Freeza and Cold
-19 and 20 destroying the city
-Yamcha getting and arm through his chest
-Vegeta ripping 19's hands
-18 breaking Vegeta's arm
-Cell drinking people
-Cell absorbing 17 and 18.
-Babidi exploding people's heads.
-Jerks sniping the old couple.
-Buu getting into people and exploding them.

I'm certainly not asking for guts and entrails splattered on the ground, but there is a certain degree of violence and dying expect for Super to have consistency with the rest of the series if they are going to face even stronger threats.

Damn, Kikuchi getting a award this year is like calling him back to Dragon Ball Super!
Even though he doesn't come back, Toei should just remaster some of his soundtracks. They are too perfect to be left on the past.

A world without Dragon Ball is just boring.

I'm also up for remastered Kikuchi music in Super. Loved it in the 08 special (I think that music was stock Kikuchi, it was good.).

I quite like Sumitomo score for BoG and "F" and majority of the Kai tracks. I would prefer it if we got him to make it consistent with the movies.

As lighthearted in tone as the Buu Saga was (because in Dragon Ball the story arc where the human race is all but wiped out is lighter in tone than the previous five arcs), yeah...that bit was freakin' dark.

Perhaps the darkest. I would certainly not like something at that level again (and what followed).

I forgot to add Cell surprise blasting Trunks' chest.

In any case, the cast was shown already to try to avoid killing Freeza's soldiers. They won't be doing anything too harsh beyond breaking some noses and blowing up the final boss if its too strong (not that Vegeta isn't against severing some limbs, I guess). In FoF we got Gohan without a pulse and bloodless chest hole for Goku. Not too shabby I guess.

Things I guess we could deal with for a real sense of danger for the main cast: stabbed (blades?/Arms?), broken limbs (like King Piccolo vs Goku), blinded (longer than Taiyoken). Killing actual new named characters/friends would also do the trick I guess.
