Wow. When I read in the summary that Goku was pierced through the heart after dropping his guard, I figured he was in base form.
Like... really? He's in his ultimate form, and that is able to nearly kill him?
Fuck this series. *Slams door*
jk. But that is stupid.

Heck a freaking Stormtrooper could kill Goku now

Inconsistency, hence why I dont care about it as much, poor portrayal of Goku letting his guard down.dbzfan7 wrote: Past examples would disagree, but I'm not up for debating this back and forth.

I don't know why everyone has such a big problem with Sorbet being able to attack Goku. Saiyajins aren't indestructible when caught off guard, that's why Vegeta was able to survive Goku's Earth shattering Kamehameha and even a Genki Dama, but got his tail cut off by Yajorobe's sword. Goku just really messed up, and he even admitted it to Vegeta.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe time codes typically start at 01:00:00:00.
Re: Official On-Going DBZ 2015 Movie Thread: "Resurrection '
The problem isn't that Goku was damaged by someone weaker than him because he was off-guard.
The problem is that being damaged by Sorbet or being damaged by Mr. Satan because he was off-guard leads to the exact same thing, considering how far apart their powers are. Now, if you agree with this scene, think to yourself: "If Goku was off-guard in SSGSS and Mr. Satan karate chopped his neck, would he KO him?", if you think the answer is no, then you get our complaints.

I don't know, it might. There is that scene where Krillin throws a rock at SSJ Goku while he's relaxing with his eyes closed and it hurts him. Saiyajin bodies aren't invincible, they resist high energy attacks by bracing them with ki, but to do that they need to either know they're coming, or already be in a guarded state.Doctor. wrote:The problem isn't that Goku was damaged by someone weaker than him because he was off-guard.

Yeah it's a really annoying scene, but it's not quite as drastic as some make out it is. I've stressed this before, and I will again. If Sorbet has got around a power level of 300 he can wipe out the moon easily, if he's closer to Vegeta in the saiyan arc he can be argued to have the power to wipe out a planet. Now if Goku is off guard and an attack that at the very least can destroy a moon can pierce him I don't have a huge problem. It's annoying, sure, but it's not like he's been shot down with a gun.Doctor. wrote:The problem isn't that Goku was damaged by someone weaker than him because he was off-guard.

UpFromTheSkies that scene is only in the anime.

I don't think they can really be compared. Tanking weaker physical hits while off guard is easier because he has a stronger body due to his Saiyan genetics. Especially in that example when the person attempting to knock him out is a strong, but only at a normal level, human who has no concept of ki to strengthen his attacks.
Ki attacks/ray guns/whatever are a different story. The body isn't naturally designed to stand up against an energy based attack, and requires ki to shield them.

What makes this scene incredibly unbelievable to take in are the powerlevels. If they weren't introduced, I'm sure most people would take it easier.

Well the Yajirobe and Vegeta scene isn't filler.... If Yajirobe can cut Vegeta with a sword when he's not paying attention, then Sorbet can pierce Goku with a laser beam. Being in SSGSS form obviously doesn't make you invincible, it just gives you access to immense amounts of energy.Doctor. wrote:What makes this scene incredibly unbelievable to take in are the powerlevels. I don't know why you think that comparison makes sense... Vegeta was, at most, a few thousand times stronger than Yajirobe was, and the only thing the latter did was cut his tail and, later on in the fight when Vegeta was incredibly damaged, make a cut on his back. SSGSS Goku is literally millions, if not billions, of times stronger than Sorbet and he almost died to a simple beam he should have been able to see, let alone sense or feel. Nobody said that you can't be hurt if you're off-guard, but the manga has established that it doesn't matter at one point if you're way above your opponents.UpFromTheSkies wrote:Well the Yajirobe and Vegeta scene isn't filler.... I had a bit of trouble accepting that scene myself.
But,its simply trying to improve goku,to not be so naive in battle and think its over before it actually is and lowering his ki,therefore making himself vulnerable.
And as for who said that they are useless without ki,you are correct.Without ki to protect their bodies they arent that durable.Saiyans have a base durability that is superior to humans, but with ki it reinforces them allot. And if they dont protect themselves with it,they can be injured.
Kinda like how goku got pierced by piccolo jr.If goku would have payed attention,he could have easily have tanked piccolo's jr mouth blast by simply reinforcing his body with ki.
Through out dbz goku has a bad habit of letting his guard down against his opponents.Maybe, with this,he will progress and not be so easily caught off guard.

When did it establish that? Even in a weakened state, Vegeta was way above Yajirobe in terms of power, and had Yajirobe gone for his neck, I see no reason he couldn't have killed him.Doctor. wrote:Nobody said that you can't be hurt if you're off-guard, but the manga has established that it doesn't matter at one point if you're way above your opponents.

I understand what they were trying to do with the scene. I'm just saying it was stupid and badly executed, wanting to transmit a point and enforce character development doesn't make it any less illogical.
When Shen was distracted, was hit by the Sokidan, and did almost no damage. Or when Vegeta & co attacked second form Freeza when he was distracted and, again, did no damage at all.UpFromTheSkies wrote:When did it establish that?
You keep neglecting that the difference between a weakened Vegeta and Yajirobe is way, way, waaaaaaaay lower than the difference between SSGSS Goku and Sorbet.UpFromTheSkies wrote:Even in a weakened state, Vegeta was way above Yajirobe in terms of power, and had Yajirobe gone for his neck, I see no reason he couldn't have killed him.

As for me when youre off guard you tend to miss those things despite your huge advantage, freaking batman killed Reverse flash with a sword stab just because he was too focused on Barry. Superman got shot by a bullet kryptonite thats only moving at bullet speed right infront of his face.

Also, just checked the Strength Checker, and I found this incredibly ironic:
Chapter: 281 (DBZ 87), P5.6
Context: after Goku punches Jheese
Goku: “[...] don’t you guys leave yourselves too off guard?”
