So they've announced 9 days for the movie this time, that's good.

They announced only 4 days for Battle of Gods though it was actually in theatres for 10 days.

Another limited run? Dumbass FUNImation, ain't this franchise their bread & butter? Just more money left on the ground, but hey, their decision. At least I hope there will be more screens this time at a consistient rate throughout those 9 days

You don't know for a fact that a DBZ movie could sustain a longer-form theatrical run. I'm sure FUNimation's run the numbers; it literally is their business to do so and know what they're getting in to.

The fact that this one IS a longer run than Battle of Gods, and yet still isn't a "normal" length run, should probably speak volumes. More time to get the information out there, a little more time for people to make plans, but still a compressed schedule to guarantee people don't dilly-dally and do actually get out to see it. Sounds reasonable and smart from a business perspective, to me.

That teaser trailer was terrible and looked fan made.

Still, glad they finally released something. :)

Because the professionals in companies never botch marketing/product releases? With a run like BOG had (in its limited release) most distributors would've extented it far more than the just-announced 9 limited-again run.

... You live in Poland and are talking matter-of-factly about:

A) Battle of Gods' American theatrical run, and
B) FUNimation's interal accounting department and whether or not they've correctly run the numbers.

Is it far-fetched to say you don't have enough information to speak so strongly? I guess you could call it "backseat-marketing"? "They should totally do it this way because I know!"

(Then again, I guess pro-Japanese fans have, in the past, performed "backseat-licensing" on the dub and how it was produced.)

:wtf: Ever heard about internet? Yes, even us third worlders in Poland and Japan have access to American box office data like here these days, can be interested in box office trends across the world or know English langauge and comment whether they like the dub work or not.

So thrilled to finally see this. I think I might break my F5 key refreshing Alamo Drafthouse's website at the rate I'm going. I think it'd be a cool little extra if they were to screen the first episode of Super dubbed following the film. That is if it isn't simulcasted.

The movie is foreign movie, foreign movies get limited releases unless there's Oscar buzz going for it (Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon and Studio Ghibli films) or happens because the studio wants to release it with a big screening like Sony did with Godzilla 2000. I think a limited release is fine since it's better then nothing at all. At least the movie is coming out the same year as it did in Japan. We don't have to wait two years or more like we do with the Eva Rebuild movies.

I'm really glad that they have finally announced the US theatrical release date, but at the same time I was really hoping for something like... June or July. =/

I think August gives Funimation more time to market the movie. ROF comes out the same week as the upcoming Fanastic Four 4 reboot which is a movie that have no plans on seeing. Rise of the Silver Surfer still left a horrible taste in my mouth.

This was never going to get a wide relesse, it'd never make the kind of money to warrant it. Almost no anime film does outside of a few of the Studio Ghibli films distributed by Disney.

Even them they don't make $20 million.

It's something that the movie is even getting a theatrical release at all. Plus it's being advertised as having a run over twice as long as the previous movie.

Hopefully it gets a good theatre count too. Battle of Gods had 800 theatres.

Maybe it was a bit much to call you out on your country, but that is kind of my point: You have Box Office Mojo as a reference; they won't have absolutely everything the way FUNimation themselves will. It's very easy to sit there and claim someone else doesn't know what they're doing.

I hope they'll consider subtitled runs in the midst of a dub run. Probably not.

I'm excited. Although, a bit upset too. I was planning to go see this with my friend who just got into Dragon Ball. But she'll already be at school by the time this is in theaters. So I have to either take a bus up there, or let her see it by herself. I'm sure we can figure something out, but I wish it could have been earlier. Still, I'm excited to see this in theaters. I can't wait.

I mean, you're pretty open about looking at cartoon porn. Why would you do that? It's fiction. The proportions of these women are not possible to reach in reality.

Oh man, that was an awesome trailer. I love the tagline: "Revenge takes its Final Form". Really cool stuff.

Nah what they should have done is show the classic Frieza in his white and purple form then had the tagline "This isn't even his final form" and then cut to Frieza turning into Golden Frieza.

I tried to ask them about it, but they never responded, even though it became a whole conversation with multiple people. Maybe they're still considering it, but it's probably just that their social media rep was afraid of getting into it.

Kinda feel ripped we didn't even get one line of dialog in the trailer, just Freeza laughing, but still pumped for this.

Ever since Kai, especially with Chris Ayres as Freeza, DBZ has actually been rather solidly dubbed, so getting to see this movie as I did Battle of Gods in theaters will be nice.
