Unpopular DB opinions
Re: Unpopular DB opinions
Piccolo should have stayed dead after his sacrifice for Gohan.
I love him like everyone else but if Toriyama wasn't going to do anything with him then he should've kept him dead cause at least he would've gone out on a high note but instead he brought him back and as of now he's had no impact on the story to the point where it would be the same without him.

He fused with God, something that everyone has wanted ever since God revealed Piccolo Daimao was still alive and that the two were once one completing his character arc. I'd say that's pretty important.sintzu wrote:Piccolo should have stayed dead after his sacrifice for Gohan.

Did it have any impact on the events that followed ?Doctor. wrote:

Re: Unpopular DB opinions
He kinda became the strongest being in the series at that point, barring #16 and not yet introduced characters, and managed to hold off Imperfect Cell. I'd say yes.sintzu wrote:Did it have any impact on the events that followed ?Doctor. wrote:

I agree with this sentiment. (Temporarily) retiring characters >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> insisting on keeping characters around just to embarrass them and for them to do absolutely nothingsintzu wrote:I love him like everyone else but if Toriyama wasn't going to do anything with him then he should've kept him dead cause at least he would've gone out on a high note but instead he brought him back and as of now he's had no impact on the story to the point where it would be the same without him.

I think Piccolo, Tien, Chiaotzu and Yamcha all should've stayed dead and remain on King Kai's planet. They really didn't do much of anything after being revived (Tien is an exception maybe)
And then maybe in the Buu arc they could temporarily return for the 25th Tenkaichi. By then, they've caught up with the Saiyans due to all the training in the afterlife so they can do things relevant to the plot rather than just jobbing.
Re: Unpopular DB opinions
If Piccolo stayed dead, then after Dende dies there would be literally no chance of Dragon Balls coming back (after all, not too long after he's revived does the Grand Elder die). I would say that's a pretty big impact.

Re: Unpopular DB opinions
Piccolo kept Gohan from being killed by Freeza. I don't think they should've stayed dead. Chaozu and Tenshinhan could've left the show and got a happy ending without being killed off for good.I think Piccolo, Tenshinhan, Chiaotzu and Yamcha all should've stayed dead and remain on King Kai's planet. Re: Unpopular DB opinions
I don't think it would have been bad for Chaozu and Ten to stay dead. The two really don't seem to have an interest in anything but training, so that would be a perfect "epilogue" of sorts for them. Of course, you can easily just have them go off and train without showing up again if they come back to life.
But I've just thought, if there were no second revivals, that that would work well for them. It just wouldn't work with the Boo arc however.

I'm re-watching Dragon Ball GT in full on my blog. Check it out if you're interested in my thoughts on the series as I watch through it!

Vegeta could've done that.ABED wrote:Piccolo kept Gohan from being killed by Freeza.

Re: Unpopular DB opinions
Now this intrigues me. I get Chiaotzu completely since he barely shows up at all and Yamcha, as much as I like him, did little of importance bar take Goku home, deliver the medicine and fly a plane twice so they couldn't be sensed, but did Piccolo really do so little post revival you feel the wish to bring him back was a waste of time?sbk wrote: I think Piccolo, Tenshinhan, Chiaotzu and Yamcha all should've stayed dead and remain on King Kai's planet. Actually Yamcha being dead though would of left a far less bitter taste in my mouth when Bulma suddenly got together with Vegeta as it'd be a hell of a lot more understandable.

Yes it did. Had anyone found Imperfect Cell instead of Piccolo, and they'd be killed.sintzu wrote:Which didn't change the plot in any way.
Nevermind that, like Daisetsu said, if Piccolo stayed dead, there wouldn't be any Dragon Balls and the series would end on a tragic note in the Freeza arc.

He wasn't strong enough.Vegeta could've done that.

Freeza saga : He came back only to get beaten up and get pushed to the side.Akyon wrote:Did Piccolo really do so little post revival you feel the wish to bring him back was a waste of time ?
Android saga : He had a small fight with #20 which didn't change anything then got beaten up by #17.
Cell saga : Cell told him about his origin which could've been said to anyone then he fought #17 which lead to him nearly getting killed by Cell then #17 getting absorbed.
Buu saga : He helped the kids with the fusion which could've been done by Krillin.
The new movies : He got one shotted by Beerus then fought some nameless solders.
Would anything change if Vegeta was the 1st one to meet him after his training in the chamber ? he'd tell him about his origin then the rest of the arc would go the way we know it.Doctor. wrote:

They could've found some way to bring Kami back alone.
It won't matter cause the ending would be the same,Vegeta would lose then Gohan would step in and attack which would lead to Freeza transforming into his final form.ABED wrote:He wasn't strong enough.

Re: Unpopular DB opinions
What, no, Vegeta was not strong enough to do anything to Freeza in that form. The team of Kuririn, Gohan, and Vegeta wouldn't have been able to hold out long enough.
I get your point, but to be fair, it's not that Piccolo is a useless character, it's that Toriyama doesn't use him as well as he could've
Which he only told when he thought he had the upper hand. Had it been anyone else, Cell would have killed them.Cell told him about his origin which could've been said to anyone

No it wouldn't have. It would've lead to their deaths. Freeza wouldn't even have to transform into his 3rd form, much less final form to do it.sintzu wrote:It doesn't matter cause it would lead to the same result.ABED wrote:What, no, Vegeta was not strong enough to do anything to Freeza in that form.

Re: Unpopular DB opinions
Freeza in his 2nd form would've beat Vegeta up then he'd transform into him 3rd form and use his finger beams to kill him then Gohan would flip out and attack him then the rest of the arc would play out the way it did.ABED wrote:No it wouldn't have. It would've lead to their death.

Re: Unpopular DB opinions
He wouldn't need to transform, Vegeta was powerless against him, and Gohan wouldn't have gone off the rails to protect Vegeta.sintzu wrote:Freeza in his 2nd form would've beat Vegeta up then he'd transform into him 3rd form and use his finger beams to kill him then Gohan would flip out and attack him then the rest of the arc would play out the way it did.ABED wrote:No it wouldn't have. He didn't need to against Piccolo but he did any way to be mean so he'd probably do the same with Vegeta.ABED wrote:He wouldn't need to transform, Vegeta was powerless against him.

Re: Unpopular DB opinions
No, he clearly needed to, at worst, it was a stalemate, especially when Piccolo removed his waited training clothes. Even if he did the same with Vegeta, why would Gohan go nuts trying to protect Vegeta?sintzu wrote:He didn't need to against Piccolo but he did any way to be mean so he'd probably do the same with Vegeta.ABED wrote:He wouldn't need to transform, Vegeta was powerless against him.
Lastly it wouldn't have made a lick of sense to keep those characters dead since the whole reason the arc takes place is because Kuririn, Gohan, and Bulma go to Namek in order to revive their friends.
