Re: Ocean Studios' "Dragon Ball Kai" dub seems to be coming.
Seems true according to this: http://www.reddit.com/r/movies/comments ... ed/cr8fc7s
I haven't heard Cole Howard in much but he seems to have a youthful voice which fits the character. I only worry that he might not sound "cool enough" if that makes any sense.
I hope Ted Cole at least returned as Yamcha, and more importantly, I hope we get to hear all these performances one day!

Re: Ocean Studios' "Dragon Ball Kai" dub seems to be coming.
So is there a release date to air on TV or for a Blu-ray edition?
Ocean Kai is beyond delayed with Kai 2.0 out already, BoG, RoF and Super yet to be dubbed.. if they're going to dub them that is.

FUNimation 2015 Releases I want:
- Kai 2.0 on Blu-ray
- Kai 2.0 on Blu-ray

Re: Ocean Studios' "Dragon Ball Kai" dub seems to be coming.
Like the Westwood dub that came before it, the Ocean dub of Kai will be a TV-only dub, and won't be released on any kind of home video. FUNimation has the rights to that. FUNimation also has the rights to the movies, so there's no way BoG or Rof will have an Ocean dub either. Super may conceivably get an Ocean dub since it's a TV series, but I think it'll be a long time before we see that.dbboxkaifan wrote:So is there a release date to air on TV or for a Blu-ray edition?

A "rather haggard" translation of a line from Future Gohan in DBZ, provided to FUNimation by Toei:
"To think of fighting that is this fun...so, it was pleasant fight, as many as, therefore is a feeling which is good the fight where."

Yep, Funimation has the home video rights in North America but it could still be released in Holland or in other parts of Europe but that looks really unlikely. Anyway I doubt that they would ever dub the movies given that there's less of a market for them. Unless they cut them up into episodes like Funimation did with movie 3.TheBlackPaladin wrote:Like the Westwood dub that came before it, the Ocean dub of Kai will be a TV-only dub, and won't be released on any kind of home video. Interesting to see Cole Howard get Android 17. Also this indirectly confirms the dub using the term 'Android' over Cyborg or Artificial Human.

Yeah, I don't think that's likely either. To date, the only way we have of watching the Westwood dub is by watching VHS tapings of the dub that have been uploaded to YouTube.Solidus wrote:Yep, Funimation has the home video rights in North America but it could still be released in Holland or in other parts of Europe but that looks really unlikely.TheBlackPaladin wrote:Like the Westwood dub that came before it, the Ocean dub of Kai will be a TV-only dub, and won't be released on any kind of home video. Re: Ocean Studios' "Dragon Ball Kai" dub seems to be coming.
There are plenty of 2015 dubs that still replace the music, have replaced their original cast, and have completely different and weird theme songs airing on TV. It's not commonplace in the dub market in general, but on TV, it's pretty easy to find them. I don't see why a dub that could be more watchable than they are should never see the light of day when they have.ShadowDude112 wrote:Oh boy! Replacement music? No, seriously. Why are we excited for this. This is everything we shouldn't want. This isn't 1996 anymore. We should be beyond this. I think it's better for everyone that this never sees the light of day.

Wow, awesome! Even though he likely won't know much about it maybe you could bring it up in conversation at some point and see what he says? I'm sure the NDAs must be over by now.
At the very least you'd get to hear what his 17 sounds like.
Edit: nevermind, saw your updated post.

What does his private life has anything to do with his professional voice acting career?jelleline89 wrote:I'm officially creeped out...Kirbopher wrote:Uh... http://www.behindthevoiceactors.com/Cole-Howard/

I don't want to derail the thread so I've sent you a PM about this. Also posting those links here doesn't really seem necessary since it's got nothing to do with Dragon Ball and only encourages unrelated topic conversation. It's probably too late to remove them now though since they've been quoted.

This is a Dragon Ball forum, not TMZ. Actors' personal lives have nothing to do with this dub.

Re: Ocean Studios' "Dragon Ball Kai" dub seems to be coming.
Yet we've discussed everything from what the past Ocean Dub VAs are doing now to Brian Drummond's attending a certain gym. I don't see any harm in taking about how I know him, and his GF better, and that I have had (Yes, I already talked to her) about the inappropriate things I found on his Reddit, which might I add was already being discussed here before I started discussing it. Those other Reddit posts are just as much in the public domain as the post regarding his role in DBZ: Kai so it's hard to believe that no one else would be able to find these posts with a little searching. I won't post the links again, but I don't see anything else my post did wrong.TripleRach wrote:This is a Dragon Ball forum, not TMZ. Actors' personal lives have nothing to do with this dub.

So I just talked to his GF.
Ocean was notified about the Reddit post this morning and made Cole remove it immediately:
http://www.reddit.com/r/movies/comments ... ed/cr8fc7s
They aren't happy at all about what he did but Cole won't be replaced on Z Kai. It's safe to say Cole won't be talking about his VA work on Reddit again.
As for how his GF felt about his Reddit content, they aren't breaking up or anything but she needs time to think over the things he said before sitting down with him about it.

This isn't a relationship forum. I wish them the best but IDC about his girlfriend. Their issue has nothing to do with the Ocean Dub. Should we talk about Nozawa relationship? We barely talk about Toriyama wife and he indirectly created the site.
Also if dub debut in 2020. Is there hype for it?

You must have been harbouring a huge personal vendetta against the guy to go after his personal life in such a malicious way. Seems you won't be satisfied until he's fired and/or dumped by his girlfriend which is sad really.jelleline89 wrote:So I just talked to his GF.

Anyway I suppose this means the actors still aren't allowed to talk about DBZ Kai? I'm kinda shocked at that tbh.

You really need to learn to read because I wasn't the one to notify Ocean about this, I was told about it by his GF. So I would be very interested to know what gave you that idea, especially after I had said I had talked to his GF and found out about this through her. WTF dude...NitroEX wrote:You must have been harbouring a huge personal vendetta against the guy to go after his personal life in such a malicious way. Re: Ocean Studios' "Dragon Ball Kai" dub seems to be coming.
Me too. This dub is probably the worst-kept secret in the history of the Dragon Ball franchise.NitroEX wrote:Anyway I suppose this means the actors still aren't allowed to talk about DBZ Kai? I'm kinda shocked at that tbh.
However.......
An NDA is an NDA. Voice actors get preached to all the time how they're not supposed to be broken. For all we know, the reason the dub hasn't premiered yet is because actors talked who weren't supposed to. Don't get me wrong, I know this isn't likely, but for all we know Toei found out about the leaked info, got pissed, and there were repercussions as a result.
Here's the silver lining to all this: if he was told to take it down immediately, and they were angry with him, it implies that this dub is indeed still going to air. I mean, if it were truly cancelled and never going to see the light of the day, I can't imagine why they'd be mad about it. If it really wasn't going to be seen, I'd imagine they'd probably have the attitude of, "Pfft, screw it, talk all you want, it's not like it's happening anymore anyway."
A "rather haggard" translation of a line from Future Gohan in DBZ, provided to FUNimation by Toei:
"To think of fighting that is this fun...so, it was pleasant fight, as many as, therefore is a feeling which is good the fight where."
