Well, it's like having the new Star Wars Episode 7 scored by Hans Zimmer instead of John Williams... but they are both good composers at least.Bulma's Foot Masseur wrote:Is this something people actually want from a brand new Dragon Ball series? So, no Kikuchi remastered sountracks.?!And that award he got weeks ago, just asked for that...
Let someone else have their time in the sun. I'm pretty sure it's been established that Sumitomo can compose some amazing stuff provided he actually has a budget. (AKA not with The Final Chapters.)

I didn't dislike the BOG soundtrack, but I can't say I re-listened to it after BOG came out. I'm kinda meh on it for the most part. Indifferent.

Well, now we'll get to see how Sumitomo does with a proper TV series budget. For the sake of his defenders, I hope this works out.
Yay for consistency, I guess, but I'm already very saddened. I'm worried my days of having happy, hummable Dragon Ball themes are long gone.

I think that's a problem with anime soundtracks these days. Most aren't memorable, and the few which stand out are usually the ones that try something different or stylish.MagicBox wrote:I'm worried my days of having happy, hummable Dragon Ball themes are long gone.
I'm on the fence about Sumitomo. His work in BoG is ok, but Kai-Buu suffers from bad music placement. That's not his fault, so if Super gets a competent directing, maybe his work will be put to a better use.

The series will, “…follow the aftermath of Goku’s fierce battle with Majin Buu, as he attempts to maintain earth’s fragile peace.”
So does that mean that Super's timeline will occur after Majin Buu's death and before the 28th World Martial Arts Tournament, or after the tournament (so completely after Z)? Or it has not been stated yet when the Super's event will occur exactly?
Can someone clear this up for me plz?

I personally believe it will take place after Resurrection F but before the segment with Uub.

SHIT, THey are going cheap again.... (that's just me lowering my expectations so if anything bad happens i'm not let down) but yeah, talk about throwing away a chance to get someone like shiroh sagisu or yoshihisa hirano for db.

Well, I guess it would've been too much to ask if Toei made everything perfectly. I don't hate Sumitomo's work, I don't think it doesn't fit the show/scenes, I just don't care, his stuff is just utterly forgettable.

Re: Official Announcement Thread & Discussion
I don't mind Sumitomo at all. His score for BOG was really good but he really needs to sort out the rough edges when it comes to happy/comedy tunes, because, quite frankly he sucks at them. As evident with his happy/comedy tracks in Kai 2.0. The jury is still out for his OST for ROF, as I haven't heard all of it. But some of the stuff I've heard has been quite good. I'll remain casually optimistic and hope that he can become the total package composer that Dragon Ball needs in Dragon Ball Super.kei17 wrote:http://sumitomostf2.jugem.jp/?eid=63
Norihito Sumitomo confirmed as the composer. Well, kinda disappointing to me.

We're now in June which means Super starts next month!
Let's hope the next few weeks are packed with goodies for us in terms of promotion.

I'm certain there's gonna be a PV for Super in the next two weeks or so. The premiere date for the show is getting closer and closer.BlackCatScott wrote:We're now in June which means Super starts next month!

There's got to be! With it being so close I'm surprised that there isn't anything released already. The next couple of weeks should be busy, I would have thought. We all seen the reaction of the internet when the announcement was made about Super. It was crazy! I've never seen anything like it for Dragon Ball. If they release a trailer it will get people talking.Lord Beerus wrote:I'm certain there's gonna be a PV for Super in the next two weeks or so. Or they could really torture us and not show anything until the last episode of Kai. Does anyone know if there were trailers for GT before the last episode of Z? I have the original broadcasts, and I don't remember any preview of GT showing before the last episode of Z, but it's been awhile since I've watched it.

We'll at least have the website and character art by the end of the month, I'm certain; if Toei's GoPri is anything to go on.

When will the manga start again?
James Teal (Animerica 1996) wrote:When you think about it, there are a number of similarities between the Chinese-inspired Son Goku and that most American of superhero icons, Superman. Both are aliens sent to Earth shortly after birth to escape the destruction of their homeworlds; both possess super-strength, flight, super-speed, heightened senses and the ability to cast energy blasts. But the crucial difference between them lies not only in how they view the world, but in how the world views them.
Superman is, and always has been, a symbol for truth, justice, and upstanding moral fortitude–a role model and leader as much as a fighter. The more down-to-earth Goku has no illusions about being responsible for maintaining social order, or for setting some kind of moral example for the entire world. Goku is simply a martial artist who’s devoted his life toward perfecting his fighting skills and other abilities. Though never shy about risking his life to save either one person or the entire world, he just doesn’t believe that the balance of the world rests in any way on his shoulders, and he has no need to shape any part of it in his image. Goku is an idealist, and believes that there is some good in everyone, but he is unconcerned with the big picture of the world…unless it has to do with some kind of fight. Politics, society, law and order don’t have much bearing on his life, but he’s a man who knows right from wrong.

We'll definitely have character art, the manga will be released 2 weeks before the show starts.Chuquita wrote:We'll at least have the website and character art by the end of the month, I'm certain; if Toei's GoPri is anything to go on.
Re: Official Announcement Thread & Discussion
I doubt very much we'll get anything of note until after the final episode of Kai. I've a feeling we're in for a drought until V-Jump, due on the 20th, though fingers crossed for a leak in about two weeks from today.UpFromTheSkies wrote:We'll definitely have character art, the manga will be released 2 weeks before the show starts.Chuquita wrote:We'll at least have the website and character art by the end of the month, I'm certain; if Toei's GoPri is anything to go on.

If they wait until the end of Kai to give us anything then this pretty much confirms that Super takes place after Uub.
