I asked MangaUK if they had any news on "F", and they responded with the following:
It may have been discussed but we're sworn to secrecy... for now :)
It seems as though something will be announced soon.

Hopefully they're mapping out where to screen the film, I just hope it is no picturehouse nonsense.

Oh no... I hope not. They should go with Cineworld, or Odeon. Stick with a chain, and have it over one weekend or something.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for an Odeon release. MangaUK, don't fail me now. :P

Being able to see it in my local Cineworld would be fantastic. That's what I'm hoping for.

They sure are making us wait though.

For a release like Dragon Ball Z, if you're going to go to the trouble of a cinematic release, you need to give it the best possible opportunity of succeeding.
All it needs is one major chain over a handful of dates, up and down the country. Picturehouse was chosen for Harlock, but this is a totally different ballgame.

Harlock hardly has any real fanbase of note here in the UK (to my knowledge at least) so I was surprised it got a theatrical release at all, especially days before the home video launch.

Please, Manga UK, don't drop the ball again.

Don't tell me your judging this dub harshly over two non important lines?

Relax, even the Japanese version has the characters cracking wise too you know. <_<
No, that's the funny part.
I'm actually really freaking hyped for this dub.

Oh! My bad!
Well that's refreshing to hear someone excited for the Funi Dub for a change!

So is this movie and BOG considered to be canon?

I believe you mean canon (cannons shoot cannonballs), and debating if canon's even a thing is quite popular here, but from my personal perspective, I'd say they are canon, being done by Toriyama and directly tying to his original manga over filler or GT stuff done by Toei's end.

Uh...having watched the film in both languages myself and not recalling anything being too off, and not having seen much outcry from people here in general...what exactly about it was "butchered"?

The nearest cinema to me is an Odeon one so I'd be all for that. I'd be surprised if the release was anything major I never felt like DBZ was very popular over here, it certainly wasn't like how it was in US.

I remember a lot of people that were into Pokemon but not one who ever mentioned DBZ.

I find it best not to ask these things as the eternal circle starts where every tiny deviation or delivery of a line is nitpicked.

...but then I do it anyway, so more power to ya.

The dub for Battle of Gods was good. Sure, there were two or three lines I can point to as being flat-out mistranslated and they took a lot of liberties with the jokes, but all things considered, I think the English version of that movie is a perfectly solid adaptation. I mean, I normally can't stand the dub but I have no problems watching that particular movie in English.

Yeah, they did a good job. I can forgive the creative license that was taken on some of the humour, because I think sometimes you outright have to make try and make a joke funny for the target audience.

As we all know, gags don't always traverse the expanse between cultures in a fashion that makes a-word-for-word translation possible without, quite literally, losing the humour in translation.

Sorry for asking here but, i looked at "Many deaths of Goku" thread and..did they really make Sorbet ki shot wound Goku? How...? I really want to like this movie, but, the amount of bullshit they put there, that goes against anything estabilished :(

The justification was that Goku had his guard down at the moment, allowing Sorbet to hit him from his blind-spot. Like, he had Freeza at his mercy and was basically just repeating his whole deal from the Namek-saga with telling him "Look, you've lost. Go home and I'll let you live," and then, out of nowhere, Sorbet shoots him.

It's a major source of controversy regarding this movie, it seems.

Yes, it's true. Sorbet's ring was Freeza's plan B in case he were to lose to Goku, which he did, so it had to be pretty strong. Goku was also caught off guard because he thought the fight was over, and was telling Freeza to leave and come back when he's stronger.

You can still enjoy the movie despite that. The manga has plenty of bullshit in it too. You can also have a laugh at silly scenes too. I may harp on that one scene, but that doesn't make FNF a shit movie. I'm still gonna have a good time seeing it in theaters. The scene was just a way for Vegeta to start fighting. A contrived one that could easily be fixed, but nonetheless was there for Vegeta to get a turn.

And thanks for stopping by in my happy fun time circle thread. :D

Yes pretty much.... if it can make you feel better Sorbet's ring is somewhat kinda special, and the blast that was used on pilaf and co was different from what he used on Goku.
