Out of curiosity is there a reason that this like several other anime I've seen is coming out on July 5th, like something special, like RoF came out so it would be out during golden week?

A lot of anime are produced in cours, and a single cour is 3 months (about 13 episodes). Thus many new shows premiere the first week of January, April, July, and October.

This is like... the second page of the storyboard, Right? First Goku, then Gohan...do you think the next page will have Goten? As soon as we can see Goten we will know if this is at least placed in EoZ or anywhere in between.

I want to say that Gohan's pose, the way he is shown holding the book with one hand and the other hand on his pocket makes me thinks he's giving a lecture at an university...

You know, I wouldn't hate these slideshow EDs so much if there was actual movement in it. Maybe Gohan writing in that book, or flipping through the pages? I know that's more drawings and more work, but jeez. I wonder if there will even be an actual background of a study, office space, lab, or wherever Gohan would conduct work, or if it's just going to be a purple splotch.

I will say that Gohan, in that drawing, does seem a little looser and freer than Yamamuro's rigid character designs tend to be. Here's hoping he doesn't go overboard with everything being on-model.

The storyboard is probably drawn by Series Director Chioka Kimitoshi, who isn't an animator, so the rougher drawing makes sense. Still, I do hope Yamamuro isn't involve to stiffen up the art.

Is everyone forgetting how Battle of Gods had Gohan in a similar look before the fighting started? EoZ hairstyle, glasses, and the outfit he wears is closer to that image than what he wears in EoZ!

So if they're already giving that look to Gohan, Super could still be placed anywhere.

Good point. I completely forgot that his hairstyle changes back to the Buu Saga one when he wears the gi, but it was like the End of Z one before. Still, Goku also has no undershirt. When you add those two together the placement seems more restricted.

I don't know the specific production process, but shows based on popular on-going manga or toylines seem to be planned to run indefinitely.

Not necessarily. There's a shot of kid Goku, so a picture of kid Goten could very well be a flashback in the same manner and doesn't prove anything.

Of course, if we see a sketch of EoZ Goten (or indeed EoZ anybody), that's a different story.

That shot of Kid Goku isn't in the ending, it's being used as a source for the actual shot of adult Goku in the same pose.

I hope Gohan retains his Fukkatsu no F look for a little while longer. I really like the combination of it and the track suit. Then again, perhaps with any luck Dragon Ball Super will begin as a story set between Kami to Kami and Fukkatsu no F? That would be nice, especially if we got a look as to how exactly Gokuu and Vegeta started training with Whis.

Those are larger marketing machines that can sustain the year-long runs. Shokugeki no Souma, which is also a Weekly Shounen JUMP series, is only planned for two cours because it aims at a less mainstream crowd. It also helps give the production an idea of what and where they are going. JC Staff is a smaller studio, too, so running a series for only two cours helps alleviate the stress on the studio when it comes time for their next project, too.

Kuroko no Baske is another good example. It has a huge female fan base. The title isn't particularly aimed at family audiences like One Piece or Naruto are, either. The series is steeped heavily in the good looks of its male characters, which means a controlled production schedule and energized staff is necessary. It also helps makes the home videos sell easier if the story isn't constantly running behind the comic and they can tell fans ahead of time "this season will only have this many home videos!"

Wow. Very interesting. That's Gohan's EoZ design for sure, and he DOES look like he is giving a lecture or something (especially with that small doodle to the right of his head.) This has rekindled my hopes for it being after/circa EoZ, but this still doesn't mean a thing, really. But still... We need teen Trunks and Goten! We need Baby/kid Bra! Come on!!
