There's Digimon Adventure tri.'s first OVA in November, but that may be close to finished. And aren't there rumors of a new One Piece movie?
Just a "big announcement" this month.
I read about it this morning and all I could think of is "this One Piece movie's gonna steal all the good animators, isn't it? :| " which is unfortunate for me, because while I do like One Piece, I like Dragon Ball way more.

Yea, it sucks if it's really a movie. I love One Piece and I understand why it gets special treatment within Toei, but c'mon, this is a new DB series, they at least have to save some good animators for it.

It'd suck if the reason Oonishi Ryou has been MIA is because he is doing a ton of cuts for a new One Piece movie.

I forgot about Digimon Adventure tri. If it hasn't suffered from shifting focus to Dragon Ball Kai then it probably is still in production.

I have heard rumblings of a new One Piece movie but I can't imagine it's supposed to come out in December 2015 yet has not been announced yet. Series Director Miyamoto Hiro'aki did leave the animated series after holding the position for Episodes #352–679. Fukazawa Toshinori has been series director since Episode #663, which means Miyamoto stayed on long enough to help ease Fukazawa into the role. I am inclined to agree with the theory that Miyamoto left the animated series to direct the next film, though. Miyamoto was brought on just before Sakai Munehisa (#244–372, 11 September 2005 through 28 September 2008) left to direct One Piece Film: Strong World (12 December 2009). Shimizu Junji directed the first three One Piece films but was also series director for Episodes #131-159 (03 November 2002 through 06 July 2003). Uda Kou'nosuke was series director for Episodes #1-278 but directed the fourth film (01 March 2003), this adds up to mean that Shimizu acted as one of two series directors for One Piece specifically because Uda was busy directing the fourth film. Uda directed the seventh film (04 March 2006), too.

In other words, there's a real history of "there's now two series directors" leading to "the more veteran series director has left so we are now back to one series director" and then finally "Oh, shit, new movie directed by the previous series director!" Miyamoto held onto the role of series director for the longest period of time, though.

Unlike series like Yu-Gi-Oh! or Saint Seiya, This is the first sequel DB's gotten in damn-near 20 years. Not to mention Dragon Ball is their biggest cash cow next to OP. Right now is their moment to make DB surpass OP, and after the bar set by BoG and RoF, they can't afford to muck things up like GT. They've probably been going through various storyboards, plots, and characters to make sure that it's going to be utterly flawless. The first episode is going to have the most views in recent anime history. They have to make sure that the fans are gonna be satisfied.
They couldn't be bothered to do that for the last two films, it isn't going to happen for an entire TV series.

Even of that does happen once OP film is finished then they'll be free again, if we have mediocre animation for a while no biggie. We should pretty much expect the animation quality to go up and down especially if this is a long series. That is what I am atleast expecting.

But then it starts to be a problem if it gets cancelled before the good animators are free.

It won't get canceled, especially not this year. There's nothing to fill the slot for the foreseeable future.

I hope this One Piece movie ends up being next summer instead of this winter; I can't help feeling envious when Toei throws all their good animators there, especially now that we're getting a new series. It doesn't bother me as much when they throw them at Precure (which I like more than One Piece); maybe it's more irritating to me when they give OP special treatment because it's also a shounen series like Dragon Ball where Precure is more 'animated tokusatsu' and aimed at a different audience.

Kai did poorly and they left that on the air for almost 100 eps. Also from what I read Toriko didn't do so well either and that lasted something like 150 eps. I think it is safe to assume Super won't be cancelled anytime soon.

I like One Piece a lot, but nowhere near as much as DB. Though a OP movie is overdue, it would make sense for that to be the announcement.
I don't think it will have too big an impact on Super's production, though I have no idea how long it takes to produce a movie.

At least, by this time next week, we should have something new to discuss when the manga hits.

It'll be nice to have something OP that's not Dressrosa for a change--how long have they been there, two years? (not to mention getting the main cast together again), but I want nice animation for Dragon Ball Super so much more.

I don't know if this has been done before but I'm penning it right now!

DBS

Rest assured Kanzenshuu you may now start abbreviating.
Speaking of which, DBS more or less mirrors DBZ in written form (ZS) and sort of in speech too (the S in Z).
Too bad their logo failed the similarities. Ah well, at least we can all pronounce S the same way this time.

Any chance it could not be a new One Piece movie? Could the announcement be something else?

I hope this isn't the case but they may announce the manga stopping for awhile due to Oda's health.

Chances are it's about a new movie or arc but with the amount of breaks the manga's been taking it might be the above.
July 9th 2018 will be remembered as the day Broly became canon.

I hadn't even thought about it being health-stuff. Geez I hope he's alright; I wouldn't want him to be sick.

I want it to be about a new arc, honestly. Both because a movie would suckle all the good animators away and because I'm so ready for a new manga arc. I miss having the entire Straw Hat group together, and Dressrosa's had some uncomfortably unsavory portions to it (not that there hasn't been good stuff too).

Kai did poorly? It has consistently high ratings, never missing the top 10. It's twice or more the viewers anime like Naruto and Pokemon have.
I'm not much into merchandise sales, although i understand the new movies did better giving the franchise a boost than Kai.

But, yes, if even cheap-ass Kai 2.0 has high ratings, Super won't have any problem.

If it's a new OP movie, i'm fairly sure it won't be released before 2016.
But the One Piece movies are by far Toei's biggest money maker. I don't like when a movie steals resources from tv shows either, but it's absolutely understandable if it gets special treatment.

LOL, it's definitely not that. Jump announced a "big news scoop!!" for the next week, that's not how hiatuses are announced. They don't celebrate it.
When do this, it's typically a new movie, arc or anime season.

Oda has been taking it easy for about two years now, which is exactly to avoid a new health issue.

Where were the last couple One Piece and Naruto movies first announced? As I try to learn this I'm learning that "wow, there is no Kanzenshuu equivalent for OP and Naruto as far as I can tell" and it's making it difficult to learn the answer on my own researching.

I'm just trying to figure out if that Jump announcement is going to be a movie (which will inevitably impact Super's production) or something else.

Boruto: Naruto The Movie was announced in December, I believe. The movie is coming out in August, so there is about a nine month gap. The Last: Naruto The Movie was announced in July 2014 and released in December 2014.

Thank you!

So if it is a movie, they're announcing it a month earlier than the December Naruto movie did.
And both BOG and F were also July announcements.

Holding out hope this OP announcement is manga related.

If an OP movie does get announced, it could probably affect the TV anime more than Super because the same situation happened with Film Z, and the arc at that time, Fishman Island, was absolutely terrible.

It'll affect all Toei Animation series. It will mean that Toei Animation's best in-house staff will work on the movie, meaning there's less time for them to work on the weekly series. There are too few talented in-house or freelance animators within Toei Animation's usual pool to have a separate unit for each series.
