My 5-year-old kid loves it and most of his friends at school. I used to criticise the Kiddy stuff before but now I see DragonBall is for everyone to enjoy. Watching Kai 2.0 with my kid and he enjoys it a lot, especially the kiddy stuff.

I'm curious: what language is your kid watching the series in?

My 9 year old niece told me all the kids on her classroom watch DBZ. We were recently just starting to watch the fight of Piccolo Jr vs Goku at the 23rd Tournament. When Piccolo ate the sealed bottle she gasped. "Oh, this is getting really tense!!" xD
Additionally, she was asking me whyyyyyyyy Bulma didn't ever fight. Or why didn't they taught Evil!Launch so she could help (more willing to kick butt anyway). Or how awesome was Chichi going to be fighting with the others after marrying Goku.
Oh my sweet summer child...

Yeah, I dunno how I'd answer that. "Just wait for the android saga, 18 is awesome...for...like two fights."

Then Videl will get brutalized Spopovich and never fight again.

YAY
Yep, I hope she doesn't get too disenchanted because of that. This is why I also wanted EoZ to happen with Bra and Pan. I liked the prospect of Heroes adding female avatars for the same reason.

Yes, and DOUBLE YES.

I mean, dunno if she plays video games, but Xenoverse is also a thing.
But yeah, here's hoping girl-Whis is awesome, and that we'll eventually in some kind of DB media see Pan fighting again and Bra just fighting in the first place.
(...Videl is still just the coolest thing to me. I dunno. Filler actually gave her some more cool fight scenes, like the bus-hijacking bit.)

I hope female Whis becomes the strongest character for a long time, with a playful personality, petting Beerus like a cat and trolling Whis. But still being serious when the situation needs her to be. I would be a nice change from grunting male aliens.

If Fat Beerus is the villain I might be dropping Super for a while... butit would be freaking glorious if Fat beerus was a shape shifting dude like Oolong who just transforms to annoy Beerus.

Now my hopes and expectations for female Whis are even higher. :3
I'm so looking forward to her. Can't wait.

Not that Whis really grunted. But seriously I agree with you wholeheartedly.

The female characters don't have to be badass fighters. I just want them to actually DO something.

That's always been my dream battle right there!
"Dragon Ball once became a thing of the past to me, but after that, I got angry about the live action movie, re-wrote an entire movie script, and now I'm complaining about the quality of the new TV anime. It seems Dragon Ball has grown on me so much that I can't leave it alone." - Akira Toriyama on Dragon Ball Super

Well, Bulma was important in almost every arc. When you compare her to female heroes from other classic shonen (like Saint Seiya, Hokuto no Ken, Yuyu Hakusho, Rurouni Kenshin, etc), she was quite prominent.
It's just a matter of wrong expectations. Shonen is primarily aimed at boys, and when you're a boy you generally don't care about girls, so we'll rarely see women being "badasses".
Hell, to this day people are often complaining about female characters don't getting fights, receiving poor treatment or needing rescue in One Piece, Naruto and others.

There was one time Roshi touched 18s breasts. And he asked me, why does Roshi likes to touch girls breast and butts? And I was like I need to think fast : lol:. And I told him Roshi is a lazy old man, he mistakes them for pillows to take a nap

Bulma is probably the most useful female in anime history (at least until the Boo arc). She's a perfect example to prove that not being strong =/= irrelevant. I'm a girl and I don't care that much about having strong female characters. In every shonen anime I've seen they are either useless or ridiculously strong Mary Sues, the latter being a much more annoying stereotype.
It confuses me how some girls I know whine about not having enough "badass" female characters yet they don't care that much about the fight scenes. When I talk about DBZ with my friends, they always rant about a character's appearance, filler romantic/fanservice moments, and SOMETIMES characters interactions with each other while totally ignoring what the series is famous for: the fights. I was talking about the android arc with my best friend and when I asked her whether she liked Vegeta's fight with No.19 she said "Oh yeah, I skipped that part...I wanted to see Trunks return". How the hell can you simply skip a fight?! It makes me feel like a tomboy.

That fight was brutal. I loved it.
IF there were new female additions, I wouldn't blame them if they can't keep up with Goku and Vegeta because that would be ridiculous by now. But we can agree that at least at human levels, I would expect them to be as strong as Krillin and Yamcha. At the very least to learn how to fly around and shooting basic ki blasts. I mentioned before that I would have loved for Bulma to make some kind of gun-device that could be pre-charged with Ki and used as a weapon.
