It probably is but knowing that Toriyama has plans to go that far is great for us and hopefully it goes way beyond that.

I doubt this is a mistake so they could be another universe balls.

A few more details:

Goten's off from school (since it's Sunday), and has brought his dad some bento. Goku has Goten drive the tractor while he eats the bento. Once it's finished, he turns into a Super Saiyan, then closes his eyes and imagines fighting Freeza/Cell/Pure Boo. While he does this, Goten drives off a cliff...so Goku saves Goten and the tractor (the tractor he throws back up to the top of the cliff). Goku says he's training in case someone strong like Boo ever turns up, but Chi Chi wants him to work (cue "mom's the real strongest in the universe" joke from Goten). Goten says grandpa Gyuumao is out of money, but Chi Chi thinks Goku ought to be able to get a job that would earn some money, like Mister Satan. Goku says he just likes to train.

And who should show up at that moment but Mister Satan himself (speak of the devil)? He wants Goku to have the 100 million zenny peace prize he received for beating Boo, since he doesn't feel he deserves it. Goku has to have it explained to him that 100 million zenny is 100,000 zenny one thousand times over. This freaks Goku out, and he doesn't want such an insane amount of money. Then of course he agrees when Goten points out that with the money, he wouldn't have to work and could just go to Kaio's to train.

With the Beerus/Whis stuff...I think I already covered everything. Beerus isn't terribly upset that the aliens try and kill him with poison (he mostly just thinks they're stupid for believing poison would work on him). Yet he still destroys their planet anyway, something he matter-of-factly announces ahead of time after trying their "Soup Yasai Jinkot"(the aliens then try and shoot him, but obviously that doesn't work either).

This all sounds bloody marvelous. And who said Dragon Ball can't do slice-of-life?

Gave the manga a 'read'. What a tease! Herms' summary appears accurate, at least.



I really have no issues with them retelling the movies, and filling gaps in along the way, but having seen the latest film, I'm a little unsure on how I feel about Freeza's (supposed) return. When it's just a short movie, it's a fun little nostalgic adventure, but when it's a new TV series, it's retreading old ground for far too many episodes. I don't think any of us really want that. Especially when we're well aware of how things play out. Here's hoping Nakao's role is independent of Freeza!

Given we have this 'Champ' character and his assistant, I imagine any of that is a long way off, so I have no thing to really worry about. I can't wait for this to start.

Regarding the details of the manga, and what we know is actually happening, I'm more than happy. In fact, I'm overjoyed by this initial approach! Goku dreaming about punching the heads off of his former foes while his son nearly kills himself on a tractor is amazing.

I think I'm going to love this.

EDIT: Silly me, dismissed the balls as decorative and didn't actually notice the stars actually went up to nine. Sorry about that. That's actually very interesting.

The first chapter of the manga seems like it will just cover a small part of the episode. I'll bet on 7 minutes, 10 max.

I just want Super to be 90% slice of life stories with bits of fighting added in between. That would be glorious!

I actually really like Toyble's Beerus a lot more than his other characters. I'm not saying that the others were drawn poorly, I just noticed that Beerus is drawn quite well.

I love this. Possible retelling of BoG and RF with no time constraints, fixing the mistakes those movies had and also allowing for whatever other sub-plots Super is going to be doing? Yes please. This has almost all the ingredients to be great.

I really all up for this, too. Make the move seem more arcs that seamlessly intertwine with each other, while developing more of the characters and giving the plot more depth.

My guess is we do a less rushed BOG, then jump into an arc involving heavy set Beerus and Ms. Whis.

I actually really like Toyble's Beerus a lot more than his other characters. I'm not saying that the others were drawn poorly, I just noticed that Beerus is drawn quite well.

I dunno, he kinda gives him his "horse faces" (I guess) too often, which is when the lower jaw is too long when the characters have their mouth open and the entire head is too thin.

I'm not sure if I'm the only one who thinks so, or I'm nitpicking. I disliked the way he drew Beerus in the RF manga, so I'm probably just disliking the way he's drawing him here in Super because of that ocasion since, in retrospect, he actually drew him pretty decently this chapter.

Where are people getting the idea Super going to retell BoG and "F"? The scoops more or less state they're just going to bridge the gaps.

In the manga we see Beerus destroying a planet yet in BOG we see him waking up from a 39 year nap so they're either retelling the movies or contradicting them.

Add that to them announcing a few weeks ago that Freeza's voice actor is going to be working on it.

Toei's European website is known for "talking too much", it wouldn't be the first time.
Iirc it was the first place to give away the episode count of the international Kai 2.0, wasn't it?
