It means nothing right now:

- It could be a flashback to show us how Beerus learned of the Super Saiyan God before going to sleep, leading up to Battle of Gods in due time. Most likely possibility.

- It could be just a short wake-up to destroy one planet. And when you go peeing at 4 to wake up at 7, you don't say "I've only slept three hours last night", you consider it never happened in the duration and still say "I've only slept 7 hours last night". It would be the same with Beerus, to him it's just the equivalent of a night pee break. Average possibility.

- Something could happen that will make him not remember he was up not so long ago. Less likely possibility.

I'm inclined to believe that poster actually does have the Dragon Balls drawn incorrectly; not only is there a 9-Star Ball, but the 5-Star Ball's pattern is wrong. The stars make an "X" when they've always been shown to make a "house" or a "tent"; four stars make a square like the 4-Star Ball, and the final star is centered above them.

EDIT: Also, unless part of the image is cut off, the 6-Star Ball is completely absent in favor of the 9-Star Ball. And if it's intentional:
  • Where is the 6-Star and 8-Star?
  • Why did Toyotarou draw the 5-star wrong? Nitpicky? Maybe, but still. I always remember the 5-Star Ball because it seemed so unconventional to place them that way, and that an "X" format was too obvious. :(

^ But creating a 9-stars ball would be impossibly mistaken. Everyone knows that there are seven Dragon Balls, even those not familiar with the show, and he'd have the whole drawing to realize he's drawing a number that doesn't exist.

Either it is just "artwork liberty" or it is meant to be a red herring (I think that's the word for teasing something that doesn't really exist just to hype) or it is part of the story.
But I don't buy that anyone could mistakenly draw "Ball N°9" without realizing what they're doing.

That's true, I've seen about half a dozen comments on other sites the past few days with people saying "Thanks to whoever found all seven Dragon ball and wished for this to happen" in regards to the Final Fantasy VII remake.

I doubt it's an accident.

Everyone and their grandmother in Japan should already know there are only 7 Dragon Balls. If this is a cover made by Toyotaro (of all people) this might be intentional from his part. A hidden clue of what is to come?

I'm not sure how to feel about the possibility of Super (starting off at least) being a re-telling of Battle of Gods and then Resurrection 'F'...really kind of hoping it's just bridging gaps there rather than doing a flat re-telling. Only time will tell though I suppose.

This bit about a 9-star ball is incredibly intriguing though, if it actually leads up to anything.

You know, if BOG's director's cut was about five episodes long, and we do a new, better paced version as the first arc, it could conceivably not be until October that we get a new new arc.

I can't complain though. Better director and more ssjg Gokû after all. Maybe we'll even get smoother dance choreography for Vegeta's Fun Bingo song. :3

Anyway, 9 star ball has me excited. There's no way that's a mistake. I can see one extra star as a mistake, but not two.

Hmmm, I think the first DBS chapter will be like this:

- Goku and Goten scene, that explains how Goku stopped farming after the 2008 special. Goku goes to train with Kaito.
- Bills and Whis scene. This seems like some sort of a deleted scene from Toriyama's contributions to BOG that takes place between Beerus' awakening and the hipothetical breakfast he had in BOG, when he finally remembers the dream with the Super Saiyan God.
- Then goes the Kaioh Shins' scene, that links with the very first scene of Battle of Gods. In BOG, Beerus' awakening is not placed in chronological order if you pay attention: before the movie title we saw the Kaiohs talking already about Beerus waking up, but this is showed to us after the title.
- So here will come a reanimated recap with the narrator explaining what happened during Battle of Gods.
- Then the chapter moves on with the consecuences of BOG: Vegeta training, Goten and Trunks searching a present for Videl after knowing that she's pregnant, etc.

So the chronological order would be like this: Goku and Goten (DBS 1) - Beerus awakening (BOG) - Beerus destroys a planet (DBS 1) - Kibito Shin and Old Kaioh Shin talk about Beerus (BOG and DBS 1) and contact Kaioh - Beerus remembers SSJG while eating (BOG) - The rest of BOG (BOG, DBS 1 recap) - The rest of DBS 1.

At least I hope so

PD: I think I never wrote here. Hello everyone!

Man, I hope the 100 episodes thing is true. From day one of Super being announced, that's been my dream number. In my eyes 100 episodes works because that's still much lower than the amount of episodes in DBZ, or the original Dragon Ball, so it will keep Super from feeling like a usurp of either of the original series. GT in my eyes has always been an epilog series, and to me it would just feel weird if this all new thing ended up being even shorter than the current epilog, so I definitely hoped for something over 64. 100 episodes was always that perfect sweet spot in my mind, so I'm very happy!

The 1st chapter was awesome!!! Goku and Goten looked adorable interacting, I am hyped for more! the 9star ball really piqued my interest, I hope its not just a mistake.

In the manga we see Beerus destroying a planet yet in BOG we see him waking up from a 39 year nap so they're either retelling the movies or contradicting them.

Add that to them announcing a few weeks ago that Freeza's voice actor is going to be working on it.
Well the manga/Super could be set after Beerus wakes up.
Beerus wakes up destroys a planet, remembers the SSG prophecy. Goku accepts Satan's money, goes off to train with King Kai. Beerus then tracks down Goku at King Kai's planet and the rest is history. So maybe they will splice BoG into eps, or air the movie again or do a quick summary before an episode.

At any rate why would TOEI retell the events of BoG and "F" when they already material animated already there, this is a company that is notorious for laziness. I would be very unhappy if it is the case though, they didn't reanimate/retell Z for Kai but they're going to unnecessarily do it for BoG and "F"?

Freeza's VA could be used to bridge the gaps in "F". ie. Freeza training etc.

That can't work, Bulma was having a party and Goten was there. Not to mention I think it said in the manga chapter Super is2 years after Boo and BoG is 4.

Maybe Toriyama feels unhappy with the way the films turned out.

I was thinking... you don't think they are trying to introduce Tarble to everyone who didn't watch the 2008 special... or would they? I mean... it was 7 years ago. Some of the kids watching the show now wouldn't have been even born yet...

I really hope they're not going the Duel Masters route and re-telling everything.

On the other hand, the 7+ star Dragon Balls would be a dope touch in making the DBs relevant again.

Watch them cut out Tarble from the continuity all together if they really reboot BoG and RF.

He said he wrote more scenes for BOG but due to time limitations they didn't get animated so it wouldn't surprise me if he wants them to redo it the way he originally wrote it.
July 9th 2018 will be remembered as the day Broly became canon.

'One hundred episodes' is code for "nobody is going to want to buy this on home video, so we can get away with making it look horrible!"

Crystal's also still sometimes awkward and that's only 26. I chock it up to Toei is Toei with all their franchises except precure and op movies/specials.

I really hope this doesn't happen. I actually like Tarble.
