Yeah it does. I would love if he became so popular that he got his own series, which the Z fighters appeared in.Ushabtis wrote:yes Super needs lots and lots of Jaco.

I really do hope that they use the dragonballs or some kind of spell/hax to make Goku and Veggie able to breath in space!
So far I'm excited!

Dragon ball part 1 wasn't that space oriented, was it now ?NeoKING wrote:Oh really?Herms wrote: A message has arrived from (original author) Akira Toriyama-sensei!!

Since I’m the guy who drew the thing, it’s a bit weird for me to say this, but when I first started out I never dreamed that the setting would move out into space (laughs). Don’t worry though, it’s still going to be the same sort of easy-to-understand content as always. Please be sure to watch Dragon Ball Super on TV!"

So the new guys name is Shamp, not so surprising when you think about it. I wonder what he'll be like.
Were did we learn his name by the way?

Thats what I thought. Beerus really dose strike me as a slacker, he just goes around enjoying what the universe has to offer and only seems to destroy planets if hes bored or upset. Shamp may tern out to be a OCD perfectionist sent to pick up Beerus's slack.UpFromTheSkies wrote:Maybe Champ thinks Beerus is slacking and goes on a path of destruction until he reaches Earth.

I feel like he's going to be a more ambitious and more destructive version of Beerus,. Maybe his universe is much bigger, so he's required to spend more time working, thus getting many more food bribes than Beerus, making him fat.Lord Frieza wrote:So the new guys name is Shamp, not so surprising when you think about it. Yup, that's the impression I get. I hope he's Beerus' older brother, it would probably make for some great humor.Lord Frieza wrote:Thats what I thought. Goku used the Kamehameha 3 times against Freeza in RF.TheGmGoken wrote:Goku always only use 1 kamehameha per fight.
He used it like 3 times against Freeza in their original fight too.

We really don't know yet. Some people think they are rewriting the story, some think it fits in with the existing story.pacz360 wrote:So what now are bog and rof still canon sorry for the stupid question
Re: Official Announcement Thread & Discussion
What I really want to know is why would they spend the time doing it? BOG was only 2 years ago; that's still really fresh at this point.
If they're going to make a longer version of it be the first arc, then I hope they include everything Toriyama had in mind that got cut from the final script.

I like to think that they were movie versions of the saga's that will play out in Super but as UpFromTheSkies said we dont know.UpFromTheSkies wrote:We really don't know yet. I like the detection the series seems to be going in. More flesh out versions of both movies would make great sagas for Super. But only time will tell.
I think their doing this because while BoG is quite fresh their are aspects of that story they can be better explored in a series.Chuquita wrote:What I really want to know is why would they spend the time doing it? BOG was only 2 years ago; that's still really fresh at this point.

Also on the up side we get more Super Saiyan God which is fine by me.

The same reason they turned 2 of one piece's arcs into movies.Chuquita wrote:What I really want to know is why would they spend the time doing it?
July 9th 2018 will be remembered as the day Broly became canon.

Oh I don't mind it; I think I'd enjoy a less-rushed version of BOG; especially if it means more ssjg Gokû desu and that Toriyama can utilize those battles he wanted and had to cut.
I also want to see Gokû spying on Vegeta's musical number; he talks to Beerus about having done that, but I want to see it too. X3 (The Heroes manga kinda did).

His manga still hasn't been animated yet. I think he's gonna make an appearance in Super before his own manga gets an adaptation of some sorts. And no, I don't count the Vomic.UpFromTheSkies wrote:Yeah it does. It needs to happen. I think if he appears regularly in Super, he'll build up more of a following and we'll see a Galactic Patrolman series. It would also be great if Toriyama's other characters made cameos in it.Lord Beerus wrote:His manga still hasn't been animated yet. If Toriyama is rewriting the movies for Super, I hope he also rewrites Neko Majin Z to make it canon to the DB series.
Re: Official Announcement Thread & Discussion
I don't think it's too illogical to begin where they appear to be.
If you want to sell a TV series, you generally want to sell it as one continuous, well developed story. Can you imagine how horrible it would be for viewers to finish Kai, jump back to the end of Boo, skip over Battle of Gods, watch some build up to Revival of F, and then skip over that, too?! Including the films in episodic form sounds like a no-go because the pacing would be all over the place, not to mention the potential loss in sales. You want to ship new products, not rehashed old ones.
You can't begin after Revival of F as that hasn't had a home release. You'd be confusing and turning off a portion of your audience who never got to see the film in theatres. That's far from a smart move.
Simply starting fresh and building up a new narrative based on these pre-established movie elements seems like the smartest move for everyone. Your TV audience is clued in, you're not locked into the writing decisions of 90 minute movies, and you've got a continuous TV series to push for home release.
Without a doubt, it would have been far simpler to begin after the end of the original series, but it seems clear that Toriyama doesn't want to touch that. He's content with his ending, and I think that's absolutely fine. The more I think about it, the more I'm happy that Toei seem to be approaching it from this angle.
Sure, it might suck to see the films that were marketed 'as if the manga were still in serialisation' ousted in place of this, but it's probably for the best.
