Freeza had one line where he said his power level would be about 1.3 million after he trained. (or so I remember...Mewzard wrote:...1.3 million line? What are you guys talking about?

I still don't see why that's a problem. Freeza suggests his power will be 1.3 million after training (presumably in his 1st form). That doesn't mean his BP actually is 1.3 million after the training.
Re: Official On-Going DBZ 2015 Movie Thread: "Resurrection '
Incredible how throughout the entire japanese run, the movie only leaked in parts, never in full; and one (?) day after it premieres on Brazilian theaters, it's already out on the internet
Either way, I watched the movie in a dub I don't quite enjoy simply because I feel a great number of voice actors don't fit their roles (Beerus, Freeza and Kuririn to name a few), so I'll probably re-watch it later in the english or japanese dub. Either way, here are my thoughts on the movie:
- This movie prefers action over substance. The premise had lots and lots of potential alone but they went the more action-oriented route and just limited him to fight Goku and Vegeta. A ton of fun interactions, especially with Goten and Trunks (and, consequently, Gotenks), could have been had and, depending on how imaginative Toriyama could be, Freeza could have stayed alive for the future and/or have a connection with another villain in the future. I more or less expected something like Battle of Gods, which expands the world a loooooooot, while this is its own little, compact story that doesn't really go anywhere unfortunately.
- Despite all the shortcomings I see in the film, I can tell a reasonable amount of effort was put into the script. I liked the attention to detail, such as Sorbet searching for Namek, Sorbet knowing everyone can sense Ki so he'll just bring one soldier with him and Freeza asking about Future Trunks prior to arriving on Earth, among other things. Those little tidbits are worth it, because if anyone other than Toriyama wrote the movie, they'd just jump into the action.
- I also believe this film could benefit HEAVILY from an extended version, if only to cover those things most people are complaining about and to fill in the gaps between some scenes because, at times, you jump from one scene to the other too quickly and drastically. Some scenes in Toyble's manga were left out (one that I loved, which was Freeza dreaming about being defeated while being revived), so I can only think that either he took some liberties or knew something we didn't. Those scenes weren't in Toriyama's script according to Herms, so apparently it's the first option unfortunately.
- Maximum the Hormone's F was completely wasted. I can see what they were going for when they used it on Freeza's revival, but such a loud and, one would think, action-oriented song shouldn't be used in a moment like that (though Freeza's limbs and muscle tissue being regenerated like that gave me the chills). An instrumental was used latter when Golden Freeza and SSGSS Goku were fighting, but most of it played when Beerus and Whis were talking to Bulma about food...
- Jaco was absolutely fantastic in this movie (like usual), though I also feel he was a wasted opportunity. He interacted with who? Bulma and Kuririn, that's it, pretty much. I would have loved to see him interact with more characters, but I guess that's what Super is for, please let him appear sometime in the series.
- The fight against Freeza's army was the best part of the film in my opinion. It was beautifully choreographed, wonderfully animated and the CGI that they used wasn't too jarring and didn't take away too much from the experience. The rest of the fights, however... they were underwhelming to say the least. Goku vs Freeza round one was pretty mediocre in terms of animation; SSGSS vs Golden Freeza was FILLED with crappy CGI (better than Battle of Gods' but it also had twice as much) and they were used in very slow-paced scenes which made the CGI even more noticeable. Really, the one inch punch was the best part about that entire fight, and that is sad; Vegeta vs Freeza was better, but too short and way overhyped back when the movie hadn't been leaked yet. It wasn't bad, by any means, it was good, but it wasn't fantastic.
- I think it was pretty pathetic of Vegeta to beat Freeza that way (AND LOSE) and I also think, like I stated here in this thread multiple times, that Goku was either out-of-character or regressed again, depending on your perspective, throughout the fight with Freeza. Either way, the movie took a huge nosedive by the time Goku vs Freeza begun, until then it was being great.
- And yes, I'm gonna be THAT guy and talk about the ring again. Look, I don't care for battle powers too much, I think it was single-handily the worst addition to the series... but they're here, and they're here to stay. I believed other stuff in the movie that were stretching it a lot and that MANY other people are complaining about, like Freeza's 4 month training and Shisami being as strong as Piccolo, because huge boosts and power are nothing new to the series, even if ones as big as these never happened before. But I'm sorry, I can't take in the ring scene, especially considering how unnecessary it is and how ridiculously stupid it is, too. It's the worst and the most stupid scene in the series, and I'm NOT changing my mind on that.
- I said that Gohan was humiliated in the film, but I changed my mind on that. Now that I saw the fight against Freeza's soldiers, he wasn't humiliated at all, he was treated with some degree of respect. I still don't think it's impressive that he knocked down a bunch of weak soldiers, but the focus he had throughout the entire first half of the film, and the way they portrayed him (being a nerd, letting the soldiers live, etc), is what gave me the impression they actually cared about portraying his character correctly.
- Sumitomo's tracks weren't as good as in Battle of Gods, but they weren't bad either. I feel they're too repetitive at times but he knows how to set a dark tone and mood for a setting.
- What else... ah, the real Hell! I haven't talked about it much here in the forum, but I love it and I've loved it since it was first shown. It's so ridiculously Dragon Ball and the way Freeza's irritated was very funny. I like how the movie starts off by showing us a dark setting with a lot of bats and then subverts expectations when the camera goes underwater and shows that colorful "Hell", instead!
- I found it weird that Freeza was revived in his first form when he was in his last and he regained his armor too... but I didn't spend too much time thinking about it. I already proposed in another thread an idea of how the movie could have begun if Toriyama thought of the entire series since the beginning: When Freeza was defeated on Namek he could have been rescued and, while he was rebuilt, Cold could have went to Earth alone, being killed by Trunks (that way, it doesn't ruin Trunks' entrance nor Freeza's character). Throughout the rest of the Cell and Boo arcs we could have seen glimpses of Freeza training with his cyborg body, then his body being regenerated by the new equipment and finally achieving his Golden Form and then we get to Resurrection 'F' with a developed sub-plot waiting to be completed. Just something I thought about that could have been cool if Toriyama was the kind of writer to think things in advance.
- The cast: I feel like they paid too much attention to Beerus and Whis who, quite frankly, offered absolutely nothing after the fight with Freeza started. Their talks about food weren't interesting nor funny and, of course, there's Whis' predictable and stupid time-thingy that still annoys me. They were okay for the first part of the movie, though. I don't get why Yamcha was left out but I liked that, in his place, Roshi actually seemed to be the only one who was struggling with his opponents instead of just destroying them all without a sweat like the others. I already talked about Goten, Trunks and Boo in the past, I feel like they had lots of potential for interactions with Freeza (and maybe Jaco too), so it's unfortunate they weren't in the movie. With the Earth being blown up, Boo is the only one who has never died, right? Since Mr. Satan died.
All in all, this movie, though fun and entertaining, was pretty pointless and got way, way worse after the fight with Freeza started. It had a bunch of potential coming from the premise alone but they did nothing with it and, instead, only ruined characters like Freeza and Goku's development too. It's not a bad movie, but it's not good either, if only pushed towards the average mark because of Jaco and the 1000 fight. It's really just that, average. It's a huge letdown from Battle of Gods, but at least it's better than some Toei movies like Slug, Super 13, the second Cooler movie and the second and third Broly movies, but that's about it.

Re: Official On-Going DBZ 2015 Movie Thread: "Resurrection '
Went to see the movie with all my friends. I went to a 10:20 pm showing and the place was packed with 20-30 years olds, just as I expected. I'm going to describe the audience reactions.
Highlights:
There were a couple of younger kids, but it the majority were adults. Watching the movie with all of them was like watching the rifftrax version of the movie.
People were excited and happy. When the Toei logo showed up someone yelled "Krillin dies" and there was a general chuckle from everyone.
They were confused to see the flower valley, and then laughed when it was revealed to see Freeza in the cocoon.
Krillin Policeman: My BF started to get nervous when he saw the thieves. "Oh no..." he was sure we would see another ridiculous pose of the Great Saiyaman but everyone was gladly surprised when Krillin showed up instead.
Piccolo rocking Pan's crib: "AWWW", (He has always been such a great babysitter)
Pilaf Gang: *snort* They were great as always. When Mai talked about "My boyfriend Trunks" people lost it.
Android 18's "He's so brave" = "Aawwww"
"I told Chaoz and Yamcha to stay behind" "YEAH, they should!" someone called from the back. Then Krillin and Roshi show up and someone else said "Don't die Krillin!" in a dramatic voice.
"I can still turn into Super Saiyan... I think" = "Aww shit....", "Oh Gohan, why?", "They are doomed" :V
Jaco: While I guess not all had an idea of who he really was, his interactions with Bulma were really good.
Roshi PowerUp: "SHIT IS GOING DOWN!"
Earth vs Freeza's Army: Very enjoyable! I was impressed. I don't think anyone complained outloud about the power levels Piccoro was supposed to have during the fight. It was taken at face value.
Whis' training: Awesome, specially the banter between them.
Gohan One-shot: "WOAH!". I didn't hear any complaining about that not being believable.
Bulma screaming at Freeza: "Oh, Bulma, stop it you" xD
Hand Holding: HOLY SHIT, the whole room screamed "ooooOOOOOOOH!!!/OHMYGOOOOD" :O for like 10 seconds straight. It was so loud I couldn't hear the following lines. People lost it. I believe this was the scene that provoked the biggest reaction of all the movie.
Golden Freeza: They left the word "Golden" in English. We all looked at each other. "Really? -Golden-?". I... I had not expected that. Although... well, looking back at early DB, they did kept General Red, Blue, White (etc) like that.
Blue Super Saiyan: There was... a mixed reaction. The name they used was simply "Super Saiyan God". I would have to watch it again to remember the exact line he used to explain it. He made a point of "Saiyan God" and "Super Saiyan God".
Goku/Freeza fight: Overall well done. I still could tell the 3D models on some of the scenes.
Vegeta interrupting: Beautifully done. Everyone liked Vegeta getting impatient seeing Goku might finish the fight too quickly and not give him his turn.
"As long as you give me delicious food, I'll protect you. Just stay close and nothing will happen to you" *they all get behind him* That got a big laugh out of everyone. Also Jaco's desire for a photo.
Goku's one inch punch. Freaking awesome.
Sorbet's ring: "What... WHAT" At first people were not amused by this, but the mexican dub actors made a great job to stress the point that Goku had been warned that even a weak attack could to a great damage if he left his guard down. That helped smooth things out a little.
Freezer keeping the others from helping Goku with a hand wave power: "Oh god Krillin you almost died again"
Vegeta's fight. When Freezer started offering him a place on his army, Rene Garcia (Vegeta's dub actor) made a superb job with the cold dismissing sarcasm on his responses. It was like going back in time to pre-android saga Vegeta. Vegeta's transformation was a nice suprise and people laughed at Freeza, knowing full well Vegeta was not going to hold back.
Freeza's rage quit. My Boyfriend looked at me "...but... they... Videl, Pan... everyone!".... "YEP". People were really weirded out that only Bulma had been the one crying. They expected Gohan and Krillin to mourn their families too (Goku not so much). I understand.
Whiss going back in time. Now... the problem here... back when they were training, the way Whiss explains how he fixes Beerus' 'accidents' isn't exactly clear. He mentions redoing things but in a way that doesn't imply time travel. When he mentions he can help and give Goku a second chance, it almost felt that came out of nowhere. There was a confused murmur among the crowd but... Ok.
Goku stealing Vegeta's kill: Yeah, that didn't sit well with anyone. Vegeta himself complaining helped a little to project the audience's disgust. He was still not that happy about it.
Overall, I loved it. My friends really liked it, but I guess the ending did left them with a bitter after taste. 8/10

Even if it isn't said, how his prediction turned out, it shouldn't have been said in the first place.TheDevilsCorpse wrote:I still don't see why that's a problem. He's training to surpass the guys who defeated him and later Majin Buu and he thinks he'll end up with a battle power of 1.3 million... which he had already gone way beyond on Namek and that didn't turn out great.
It's just non-sensical given, what was already established so many years ago and I'm convinced Toriyama forgot, that Freeza was supposeed to be much greater than 1.3 million normally and after hearing that F song a bit too much, mistakenly thought his full power was 530,000.
It's fun to hear stories about people's trips to the Cinema now that the movie has premiered in Latin America. Too bad it won't be coming to Scandinavia
Re: Official On-Going DBZ 2015 Movie Thread: "Resurrection '
Portugal's not getting it either, unfortunately. I'd love to see Dragon Ball in the cinema at least once in my life.
Re: Official On-Going DBZ 2015 Movie Thread: "Resurrection '
BTW, is there a place where I can check how well is the movie doing in Mexico and Latin America so far?

Sounds like you got a great time soulnova
Poor Krillin, he's always the recurring joke in Latin America
I dont remember a lot from the audience, but...
-At the begining the audio was low and we had to be quiet since Sorbet was talking, some people were shouting the managers to raise the volume while others were telling them to shut up they cant hear
Eventually the volume was raised and some people gave their thanks.
-When Piccolo showed rocking Pan's cradle someone said "babysitter" out loud.
-The part where Beerus tell Bulma that he will protect her following everyone getting closer to Beerus and Whis took a good laugh from the audience.
mmm... yeah, thats all I remember xD

Not really. Wait till Sunday night.soulnova wrote:BTW, is there a place where I can check how well is the movie doing in Mexico and Latin America so far?
All we know is that it was #1 in Peru and Chile and #3 in Brazil.

I would not surprised if we have similar numbers in Mexico. They even replaced the only theater with Jurassic World 4Dx for DBZ 4DX.Bullza wrote:Not really. Wait till Sunday night.soulnova wrote:BTW, is there a place where I can check how well is the movie doing in Mexico and Latin America so far?

- About the F book that they did for the movie -
Did Toriyama said anything about Freeza's race name?!

No. If he had, I'm sure we would have been talking about it for the last two months.FortuneSSJ wrote:- About the F book that they did for the movie -

Any signs or clues on an extended version for RoF? Probably with the announcement of Super it seems very slim of happening right?

Actually in the brazilian dub Beerus fits perfectly for a Cat's personality. Freeza isn't so "gay" as Ryusei Nakao, but it's a good voice for an evil emperor who wants do dominate planets, and wants revenge. And Krillin...well, I don't like so much the voice that his brazilian actor does in the new movies and productions, but I don't see hoe that voice doesn't fit for an adult. And Krillin is include more older than Goku. I can say that the brazilian dub is one of the best DB versions around the world, in translation, in acting, in voices and in recording/mixing too(excepting Kai). But... I can understand that because you're from Portugal, you don't like so much the brazilian dub(as many spanish doesn't like the mexican one, the the reverse too).Doctor. wrote:Incredible how throughout the entire japanese run, the movie only leaked in parts, never in full; and one (?) day after it premieres on Brazilian theaters, it's already out on the internetEither way, I watched the movie in a dub I don't quite enjoy simply because I feel a great number of voice actors don't fit their roles (Beerus, Freeza and Kuririn to name a few), so I'll probably re-watch it later in the english or japanese dub.
About the movie, I will try to see it in the next week. But for what I've had seen with spoilers, some videos(some of them were short videos with the brazilian dub included) and internet informations, your review about the movie it's not bad. I will do a comment about the movie when I'll see it in the next days too.

Ok, I just came home from watching it!. I Definitely had a blast, I enjoyed it more than BoG, but unfortunately, The audio in the place was not that great, it lacked bass and pump and surround sound you would expect for a movie in the theather. But yeah. I loved the dub, everyone was spot on. And
THERE WAS A MAJOR PLOT POINT CHANGED in the latin american dub.
When Whis Explains his powers. He doesn't say he can rewind time.
He leaves it very vague. and says he can "re-do things" but makes it so you kinda believe he can just recreate stars and worlds but not life itself.
This was a MAJOR pro, because when the earth exploded, the entire theather went silent, and when Whis said.
"I will use my power, and return in time" You COULD FEEL the relief in EVERYONE in the place. When the movie ended, The theather erupted in claps and cheers.
That was a much needed change. And one it defintely aided the movie. The line for the movie was UNREAL, and there was a line just as big waiting for the next showing in the schedule.
Also, the line were Sorbet compares Shisami and Tagoma to Dodoria and Zarbon, he calls them "on similar level" of them, it suggests level of competence!. So there was no confused people there.
There were some awesome funny lines like
Videl: I missed you so much my sweet Pan, Uncle Piccolo's a green face but he's a nice person.
Vegeta used his latin american trademark insult to Freeza before fighting him, it made the scene much more his and quite powerful, everyone loved it.
I dunno if this was in the japanese version, but Bulma's dad called Jaco as "Taco" XD that cracked me up.
Beerus lines were kinda personalized, he made some wordplays, his normal, playful side was shown more through his speech. He quickly went back to his god of destruction persona when talking to Freeza, and this cracked me up when he went back to his god of destruction speech pattern when fighting over the strawberries with Whis XDDD

In the japanese version he calls him "zako" 雑魚 which meaning is "small fish" or "person of low social standing" and according to dictionary it can also be pronounced as Jaco. :3Black_Liger wrote: I dunno if this was in the japanese version, but Bulma's dad called Jaco as "Taco" XD that cracked me up.

According to the Wiki, the movie was already released in Hong-Kong and Phillipines. Is this correct?
