Brazil

Resurrection F Opening Weekend: $710k (R$2.19 million)

Battle of Gods Opening Weekend: $765k (R$1.66 million)

As you can see in local currency the movie opened to 32% more than the last one however the inflation means that it still opened to slightly less in dollars.

Edit: Actuals also have the weekend at $7.1 million so it's actually at $38.0 million worldwide. Actuals also have it at grossing $3.4 million in Mexico now, it sold 1.1 million tickets.

Commercial success doesn't necessarily translate to product's quality.

I've always seen YouTube as nothing more than the vocal minority. But the numbers don't lie, ROF is a hit with the international audience. :)

It made $3.43 million once actuals came in and Battle of Gods did $4.46 million total after 6 weeks.

In local currency (pesos) the difference is much greater as RoF made $52.4 million opening weekend and BoG did $58.3 million total. So give it an extra day and it looks as though it's already surpassed it in just 5 days.

Edit: Japan gross update

¥3.67 billion ($30.6 million) - 2.77 million admissions

Hope that is enough for TOEI to consider a 3rd film.

I'm certain a third film is gonna happen. It'll most likely happen after Super ends.

Battle of Gods - 289 screens
Resurrection F - 341 screens of which 110 screens are for 3D showings

So again it appears the movie has seen a wider release compared to the last one. That's always a good thing.

I was unsure if the movie would get a 3D release outside of Japan so that again gives it an advantage that BoG didn't have.
Brazil didn't had 341 screens until I know. It was less than that. I had read some brazilian people saying that they'll not could see the movie on theathers because it won't be released in their cities.

And include other sources said that in the 1st weekend, Ressurrection F only had 207 screens in Brazil.

If had 341, I think the success in Brazil(counting in Reais) it would be bigger that it was(also, the movie had very a good rating in Brazil until now, but could be better).

Strange, the website Filmeb says the movie was shown on 231 2D screens and 110 3D screens.

Rentrak says the movie had a 56% market share of all screens in Brazil which would put it close to 300 screens but if Rentrak doesn't have the full data on the country then 341 screens seems reasonable.

I doubt it would make that much more than the previous movie on so fewer screens.

If this movie was released when the dollar was as strong as it was when BoG was released, what would the Box Office look like in comparison to what we are at now Bullza? Would it be nearing $10 million more than where it stands currently? Say $46-47 million?

It would have been comfortably higher.

About $37 million in Japan, $1 million in Brazil, $4 million in Mexico, $1.2 million in Peru, $2-2.5 between the remaining markets.

So it'd probably have been around $45-46 million. Unfortunately because of the exchange rate in the end it won't look like it's improved upon the last movie nearly as much as it actually has.

It only really affects how the total looks in dollars though. Fox Brazil won't be thinking that it opened to slightly less than than the last movie in dollars but that it opened to 33% more in real.

It's opened in the new markets over today and yesterday. It looks like it's sold more tickets in Argentina on the opening day at least and it is more theatres too.

In Argentina BoG sold 40,000 tickets opening day, 205,500 tickets by the end of the first week and 400,000+ tickets by the third week.

Ultracine mentions that RoF sold 52,000 tickets but this may not the full figure but more importantly today wasn't supposed to be a great day for theatres because Argentina were playing a very important football game.

Was the number of tickets sold in the first week in Argentina for ROF a large or small increase over what was sold in the first week of BOG?

It only opened yesterday so there's only the data for the one day. It will surely sell more tickets in it's first week than what BoG did though. It's on at least 25% more screens this time around.

Also new figures for Mexico. It as of Thursday has currently grossed $4.7 million, so in 7 days it has already surpassed BoG's total of $4.47 million. In local currency it's made 23% more than BoG's total so far and sold 1.64 million tickets.

What's better though is that it held considerably better than the last one throughout the week which means it might not collapse in on itself as much as BoG did.

Well it's that time of the week again, it's Sunday which means box office update day. It'll probably be announced in about 5 hours same as last time.

It's got Argentina, Bolivia, Colombia and Venezuela this week, not Uruguay anymore. It'll have surely have dropped like a rock in the existing markets but that was to be expected.

I'm expecting a gross of around $44-45 million.

"DRAGON BALL Z: RESURRECTION F: $44.8M Global Total"

That means it did $6.8 million in the past week which includes $4.6 million for the weekend. No word yet on what it made in specific countries that'll come later.

Not bad at all.
