These days people start throwing the words "filler" and "silce of life" everytime characters aren't punching each other. No matter if something is moving the plot or there's character exposition.
Imagine if DB started these days. It would go like this:
"hey, what's happening in Dragon Ball today?"
"Goku wants Mutenroshi to train him, so he's bringing him some chicks now."
"oh i see, just slice of life filler then. skippable. "
I doubt Champa (or Lady Whis) is the main villain. He probably will be a threat and an antagonist, but I doubt the show will center around his tyranny. We will definitely have another main villain. I'm sure of it.

I bet champa will be hyped up as some super strong dude that even beerus is some what afraid of and then the real villain will come out and kill/defeats champa with ease. its MO of DB

Why Dragon Ball Consistency in something such as power levels matter!

Doctor. wrote:I've explained before, I'll just paraphrase myself.
Power levels establish tension and drama. People who care about them (well, people who care about them in a narrative) don't care about the big numbers or the fancy explosions. If you have character A who's so much above character B, who's the main character, you're gonna be left wondering how in the hell character B, the character we're supposed to care and root for, is going to escape the situation or overcome the odds. It makes us emotionally invested.
If character B doesn't escape the situation in a believable way that's consistent with previous events, then that emotional investment is gone. It was pointless tension, pointless drama made just to suck in the viewer. It has no critical value whatsoever. The audience is left believing that the author can just create whatever scenarios he wants and what happens to the characters is decided by whatever the author wants to happen, regardless of the events that happened in the story. Which, in fairness, is what happens, but the audience wants to be fooled. The audience wants to know that the world they're following has rules. That the world they're invested in isn't going to bend to external factors that are irrelevant to them.
An author can do whatever he wants with the characters, that's not false. But the author should also have the responsibility to make sure it fits in cohesively with the other events in the narrative he has created.
I think every Gohan fan is displeased with the way he's being handled. Nothing wrong with him wanting to be a scholar and husband/dad, in fact I'm glad he is getting these things, its just how weak he's getting is silly really. Plus with the recent Power jumps of Goku/Vegeta and the villains to follow, its making it worse for everyone in for the Z fighter team.

It's an argument that's been done to death. Trust me I am one of the people who complain about it. However it really doesn't do anything to complain anymore than we already have. My signature is pretty much about that topic.

Stuff like this, but the discussion has been talked to death, hence I try not to bring it up as much since it's gotten tiresome. Just step get ready to step back into the grand tour.

The thing about Gohan is that while he has an incredible amount of potential, possibly more than Goku and Vegeta, he has no interest in fighting like they do, and so he's not going to train for the sake of training, he needs a reason.
>gohan needs a reason to train
...or some magic man can point at him for a couple minutes and make him a "mystic super saiyan angel super saiyan"
Really though I'd love to see Gohan actually train. we got to see it in Saiyan saga and parts of Android saga. his biggest power jumps were related to him magically awakening them, for once I'd like to see Gohan achieve a power upgrade with some blood sweet and tears training. I mean some of my favorite episodes of gohan are in the saiyan saga training filler, getting to see that again in super would be awesome, well for me at least.

Guys let's really not encourage this topic again. Trust me when I say it will absorb the entire thread if you ignite it. It has already done that a couple times.

I'm hoping adorable nerdy dad. I miss dorky Gohan, i want to see him fail horribly fitting in as a normal guy. just love the whole high school Baseball scene in Z.

What I think Gohan's role in Super will be.
Spoiler:
What I want it to be.
Spoiler:
This and this alone.
If Gohan joins the battles, which he will... He's gonna get his ass kicked. If he's gonna be a scholar then let him be a scholar... If he doesn't like fighting he shouldn't join the fight...
Face it, Gohan you're the new Yamcha. It will be better if you just stay away.

He doesn't like fighting but he still want to help people. Being heartless isn't the way.
