I think that they'll try to concentrate the events in the first couple of years, regardless of how many episodes the series ends up having. Then they'll show some flashforward to connect with EoZ, and that'll be the only time we see Goten and Trunks grown up.Big Momma wrote:While extremely unlikely, I've got my fingers crossed that, for the Universe 6 arc the story skips ahead a bit closer to the end of the manga. That way we get to see more of the older Goten and Trunks.

Re: Official Announcement Thread & Discussion
Well, I like this. A few arcs based on the new movies? Yes please. Going to another universe? Yes please. Parallel universe?! Yes!
I just hope 6 is the only parallel universe and the others are all different.

I'm excited. I trust Toriyama a lot more with a series than movie. Really happy we get both retellings and something fresh. Can't wait.
I wonder what separates the Super Dragon Balls from the regular ones. If they need them, I get the feeling something bad happens to universe 7 midway through the series.

There'd still be the Namek balls unless they can no longer wish Earth back after doing it once (forgot what the limits of namek balls are).Doctor. wrote:Freeza destroys Earth and Whis doesn't rewind timefadeddreams5 wrote:I'm excited. Re: Official Announcement Thread & Discussion
Oh thank God. I'm so freaking happy we're getting an entirely new, fresh arc after the first two arc adaptations of the movies! Incredible! And Universe exploration of all things. This is just too exciting.
Toriyama's "complete continuation" comment is intriguing to me. I hope that means that it ties into EoZ and wraps up the story. And of course I would have nothing against going past EoZ
As long as it would blow GT out of the water.

Really happy that there's no evidence whatsoever that implies or supports the idea of a retelling.fadeddreams5 wrote:Really happy we get both retellings and something fresh.

Re: Official Announcement Thread & Discussion
BOG at least has to be a retelling. Movie BOG takes place four years after Buu, Super BOG takes place six months after Buu. At the very least, Beerus being awake earlier changes something.

Re: Official Announcement Thread & Discussion
I think the "It’s got a bit of post-battle aftermath" refers to the six months after Buu , then I think they'll skip ahead to the BoG time placement.Chuquita wrote:BOG at least has to be a retelling. Again nothing from what Toriyama says remotely implies it is a complete retelling we still don't know.fadeddreams5 wrote:Did you read the front page?

Yeah, about that.Luso Saiyan wrote:Really happy that there's no evidence whatsoever that implies or supports the idea of a retelling.fadeddreams5 wrote:Really happy we get both retellings and something fresh.
"“Dragon Ball Super” is a complete continuation of the Majin Buu story arc. It’s got a bit of post-battle aftermath, continues with the “Battle of Gods” arc where the God of Destruction Beerus appears and the “Revival of ‘F'” arc where Freeza comes back to life, and then, I’ve written a strange new story where they finally depart from this universe."
Re: Official Announcement Thread & Discussion
Yeah, i don't know how to NOT call it a retelling. Unless one expects they're rehashing the exact same plot from the movies line by line or skipping them altogether while leaving the tv audience lost and confused.
Re: Official Announcement Thread & Discussion
They'll likely use footage from the movies directly, even if they only use some of it while other shots get replaced or updated.
They've got high budget footage of that story that would spare them efforts for weeks, so even if they reinvent half of it, you can expect half of the footage to be copy-paste of the films' high budget footage that's ready-to-go without extra work.

Re: Official Announcement Thread & Discussion
So "Battle of Gods arc" and Revival of F arc" seriously do not even imply a retelling of some sort?
Again nothing from what Toriyama says remotely implies it is a complete retelling we still don't know.

Re: Official Announcement Thread & Discussion
I don't care about canons, but maybe they do and they don't want to have the current versions replaced? I wouldn't believe those leaked figures when blueper was spoiled at first because I didn't want to lose ssjg Gokû. I dunno. I can't read people over the internet that easy.
Re: Official Announcement Thread & Discussion
As discussed earlier, why would they air half of RoF on tv before or right after the dvd/blu-ray release? To lose money? If anything, they need to make the tv adaptation as different as possible. That makes the most sense if they want to sell both versions.Cold Skin wrote:They'll likely use footage from the movies directly, even if they only use some of it while other shots get replaced or updated.

Reusing footage would also make their "entirely with new animation" statement a lie, and so soon at that.

Re: Official Announcement Thread & Discussion
If it is a retelling of BoG and "F" then way does Toriyama say this when describing the Universe 6 arc "I’ve written a strange new story where they finally depart from this universe" keyword being new.Araki wrote:Yeah, i don't know how to NOT call it a retelling.
