So yeah...remember how I said my copy had officially shipped? Apparently not so much as the tracking number is listing it as being in a 'pre-shipment' phase right now...

...I'm not gonna have this game till next week, considering the 4th of July is coming up, am I.

Didn't this happen with Xenoverse, too? That's some bad luck, dude.

If I were you I'd just ditch Pre-Ordering altogether and pick things up in the store.

Yeah, though with Xenoverse it came in...I want to say only a day after the release, maybe two days, but that's still irksome. I haven't checked my mail yet today (will do so later) but given that the tracking number is still listing it as being in a 'pre-shipment' phase, I don't really have high hopes.

I had originally hoped that GameStop would serve me better here than Wal-mart.com (which is where I ordered Xenoverse) did, but apparently they're pretty sucky at getting stuff to me by release date too. Is Amazon better at this? I mean...I don't think it's really asking too much to expect an item I ordered months in advance (in J-Stars case, I ordered it all the way back in April, either on the day it went up for pre-order or the day after) to get here on it's actual release date, is it?

The main reason I'm particularly annoyed on this one is because of my work schedule. If I don't get the game until like Friday, then I'm likely not gonna get to mess with it a whole lot until the following Monday, due to my work schedule being Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. If I don't get it by Friday at all, then I might not even have it in hand until the following Monday or Tuesday, since this weekend is the 4th of July weekend so the mail won't even be running on Saturday.

As far as picking things up in stores goes though, I sadly don't really have much luck in that regard either, since I'd have to go quite a ways out of town to even hope of nabbing a copy. It's not super far out of the way, but far enough that I don't want to have to go there every time something new comes out and hope there are copies there when I get there. It's the fun of living out in the 'boonies' unfortunately...

Most games on Amazon have release day delivery if you pick 2 day shipping. I live in the middle of nowhere and I get pretty much every game I preorder on Amazon on day one. That being said J-Stars was not eligible for release day delivery, but my copy is coming tomorrow.

Hmmm... The translation work on this game seems to be a bit wonky. I see stuff like "Gum-Gum Rapid Fire" and wonder... At least they use Son Goku!

I really do like that some of the featured series have some of the respective sound effects from their anime counterparts, though!

- Kenshiro has his energy charge-up/knuckle-cracking sounds (Sucks that Akira Kamiya isn't voicing him here...!)
- The DBZ characters have their respective sounds (Love they used the 'swishing' sound effect when Goku flips down from his double-jump!)
- Luffy has his 'snap' sound effect from stretching (Sadly he doesn't have the rest of his cool sound effects.)
- Yusuke's Spirit Gun has its respective charge-up sound (Which reminds me of the PKE Meter from The Real Ghostbusters...!)

There's probably more but I haven't played the game that much yet.

After playing this game for a good day or so I can say I'm really liking this game! :D
I'm not crazy about the story but the gameplay is great! I really enjoy playing to the point I can't put it down. It was totally worth getting.

It doesn't, but you can customize the soundtrack.

Woot, my copy finally came in! And I did get the compendium, muaha!

That said though, I can't seem to find the PlayStation themes anywhere. Where exactly are those located here?

I didn't get any compendium myself, but regarding the themes, I did receive an email from amazon giving me a code to download them from the psn store. Have you checked your emails to see if you have got something like that?

That sucks about you not getting the compendium. I've been hearing a lot of horror stories on that one, as if they didn't print enough of them or something. :/

I've received no such e-mail, so I'm attempting to contact GameStop now to see what they have to say on the matter. If not them, I'll then try Namco Bandai.

I managed to nab the compendium by simply asking my local GameStop if they had gotten more than they needed. Seriously, ask around if you want one. The staff at mine were very polite.

Now I just need the game and some kind of Playstation game machine thingy... Is there a consensus yet on whether or not there are substantial performance differences between the PS3 and PS4 versions? Kind of a silly question, I imagine, but as you can tell from my last sentence... yeah, still need a Playstation console.

By the way, thanks for that review you typed up on the last page, Quebaz!

Couldn't find any videos comparing the two, but since the game was originally developed for the PS3, you should be fine with either version.

Judging from this post, you don't appear to be much of a gamer (or a PlayStation fan anyway). In that case, I would recommend getting a PS3 and buying that version. It's cheaper and the online is free.

(Followed you on twitter, by the way).

I can tell you anything and everything that's been going on with Nintendo since the 80s, but Sony's always been my "wait and buy the console when I have the money/time" company. Microsoft's never been on my radar.

I'm the happy owner of the Playstation and Playstation 2, but I simply haven't jumped into anything that's happened since 2006 (as you can probably tell from other threads I've made). So everybody's answers have really been a big help.

Looking forward to catching up with this, Xenoverse, and many other (non-DB) titles.

I'd recommend getting a PS4, since future DragonBall games, as well XV and J-Stars will be out for it.

The PS3's got maybe another year and change left in it's game release life cycle. That and Sony will release some kind of digital service that allows for downloading of PS3 games in the near future...

On the other hand, pretty much all of the PS3's best titles are much cheaper than new PS4 games now.
Nothing matters (in a cosmic sense.) Have a good time.

The PS3 is already on it's last legs. Sony said in 2006 that they will produced the PS3 for 10 years and next year is 2016. Most games after 2015 will be either digital downloadable titles and bargain bin titles much like the PS2 was from 2008 - 2013. Persona 4 was like the major title on the PS2. Games like Infinite World was made for the bargain bin at Best Buy or Wal-Mart for $20. I remember not even my local blockbuster carry the game back in 2008.

Is anyone else having a problem with Rank Match? I can find a partner easy but after that I wait like 30 mins to find an opponent but by that time my partner has left...

I talked to some of my friends on PSN and they're having trouble as well.

Why is Luckyman so OP? Like, I tried doing Goku's Meteor Chain, or whatever. The one where it's up and the circle button. But my attack didn't work and Luckyman's went through. I was online, but it was still complete BS. No matter what I did, Luckyman always had priority over my attacks.

I mean, you're pretty open about looking at cartoon porn. Why would you do that? It's fiction. The proportions of these women are not possible to reach in reality.
