Resurrection F Box Office - $64.8 million Worldwide
Re: Resurrection F Box Office - $44.8 million Worldwide
"Fox International Productions’ Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection F added $4.6m from five for $44.8m and opened at number three in Argentina on $1.5m from 155 and at number four in Venezuela on $850,000 from 50. After two sessions Mexico has delivered $5.4m, Peru $1.7m and Brazil $1.2m."
Here's how RoF compares to BoG.
Argentina: $1.5 million OW vs $1.32 million OW
Venezuela: $850,000 OW vs $404,000 OW
Mexico: $5.4 million after 2nd Weekend vs $3.92 million after 2nd Weekend
Peru: $1.7 million after 2nd Weekend vs $1.54 million after 2nd Weekend
Brazil: $1.2 million after 2nd Weekend vs $1.48 million after 2nd Weekend
Rentraks total cume is just an estimate. It may go up more with actuals as it looks like they haven't tracked it in several markets this weekend.

Quite a good improvement in most South American countries. And it seems as though ROF will surpass the box office total BOG reached before it reaches the US.Bullza wrote:"Fox International Productions’ Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection F added $4.6m from five for $44.8m and opened at number three in Argentina on $1.5m from 155 and at number four in Venezuela on $850,000 from 50. Box Office actuals come in at $0.3 million higher so it's actually at $45.1 million.
Argentina - $1.48 million
Mexico - $5.53 million (MEX$84.4 million so far, BoG did MEX$58 million total)
Peru - $1.8 million
Brazil - $1.2 million
Bolivia - $77,000 (Almost double what BoG did total)
Venezuela - $848,000
Colombia - $258,000 (For some reason down significantly from BoG)

Re: Resurrection F Box Office - $45.1 million Worldwide
Some good news for the upcoming US release. Whereas Battle of Gods was screened in over 800 theatres, Resurrection of F is going to be screened in over 1,000 theatres.
Combine that with the fact that BoG was advertised as being in release for 4 days and RoF is being advertised for 9 days and you could be seeing a good increase in gross in the market especially as DBZ interest in general seems to have risen in the past year.
BoG even though it was shown in 800 theatres only had a significant screen count for the first two days. Perhaps RoF will stay in a higher amount of theatres for a longer period of time and maybe even have more showings per day.
So far their efforts to push the movie have seemingly paid off so make sure you go support it when it comes out.

Re: Resurrection F Box Office - $45.1 million Worldwide
Has Resurrection F exceeded expectations at the box office then?
I know we have Super on the way but if it has done really well why would Toei not release another film in 2016/2017?

Releasing Super doesn't mean we won't get more movies.BlackCatScott wrote:I know we have Super on the way but if it has done really well why would Toei not release another film in 2016/2017?
July 9th 2018 will be remembered as the day Broly became canon.
Re: Resurrection F Box Office - $45.1 million Worldwide
The movie is doing well, very well even. It's seeing increases over the last movie in nearly all of the countries it's opening in. It's opened in the Top 3 in a bunch of countries while in the middle of Summer when the biggest movies come out.
It is going to surpass Battle of Gods worldwide and it could happen before it releases in US. It's only been released in about 20 countries so far, it's supposedly going to be released in 70 countries. If that's still true then it'll get a release across Europe and that's where most of the big markets are.
As far as I know the movie is on track to being the highest grossing anime film outside of Japan since 2005.
They'll make another movie. If Super is more DBZ and less DBGT then it's only going to bring in/back even more fans and gain even more popularity and awareness and that next movie would do even better than what this one is doing. With how much these movies are making compared to how little they cost they'd never throw that kind of easy money away.

Fox is definitely very happy with the Latin America numebrs, they already picked up DBS distribution rights for the region
Will cross $50m within next to weeks just from current markets. US release, France and potential UK/German releases could get it in 60-70s regionBullza wrote:https://mobile.twitter.com/BoxOffice/st ... 8771512324
"DRAGON BALL Z: RESURRECTION F: $44.8M Global Total"
That means it did $6.8 million in the past week which includes $4.6 million for the weekend. No word yet on what it made in specific countries that'll come later.
Not bad at all.

I wonder if the return of the best villain, Freeza-sama, is helping the box office. Its possible.
A world without Dragon Ball is just boring.

Well, Freeza is most well known villain in the franchise and one of the most iconic in all of anime and manga. But then again, these days, Dragon Ball fans are eager for any kind new content.FortuneSSJ wrote:I wonder if the return of the best villain, Freeza-sama, is helping the box office. Its possible.

Re: Resurrection F Box Office - $45.1 million Worldwide
Bringing Frieza back surely did help. I've seen a couple people on YouTube say that they should have bought Cell back instead but it wouldn't have worked if they did that.
Other reasons as to why it's done better is because Dragon Ball seems to be more popular than it was 2 years ago. Battle of Gods definitley didn't have the media and fan interest and awareness this one has.
They released it a lot sooner, well before any DVD quality leak was available to watch online. They've also released it in more theatres and they plan to release it in more countries.
We should have some more figures from Mexico tomorrow. It's going to surpass $6 million there.

Small box office update.
Mexico - $5.88 million (MX$89.7 million) - 2.09 million tickets sold.
Definitley holding much better than BoG in the weekdays.
It also looks like it may be around $2 million or so in Argentina as well.

Well I can't really include Argentina because it's numbers are still only a rough estimate but with just what it made extra in Mexico this week the movies at $45.45 million.
By Sunday I'm expecting it to be between $48-49 million.

Nice. It has already almost surpassed Battle of Gods even before it has it's theatrical event in America. 3rd movie is probably confirmed now.

Bullza how many tickets were sold in Japan? Not sure if I've seen this on this thread before, but I thought that it didn't even make it to 3 million, if that's the case Mexico has done ridiculously well. I'm probably wrong though.
Re: Resurrection F Box Office - $45.1 million Worldwide
By the time it's finished it's run it will have sold about 2.8 million tickets in Japan.
