Crunchyroll could very well get it too, as they simulcast One Piece and Fairy Tail, which Funimation also does.
They're still announcing shows, even today, but...no Dragon Ball yet.

True, and if by that someone you mean me .. never said i didn't like it. It's more like picking your favorite Ferrari in the morning when you have 9 in the garage ..

Come to think of it there is one arc that i actually don't like, the Garlic Jr. arc ! But there are good and bad parts in every arc.
Anyway, staying on topic .. I think Super will be most similar to the feel of the later arcs, so if you enjoyed those like i did that might just be a good thing.

I'd actually be thrilled to see SSJG Broly in Heroes. The question is... why does he have a tail? O.o
Can't wait for LSSJGLSSJ Broly either. He'll look like Oni from street fighter. =D

I personally found the Buu saga to be the weakest saga. The tone has become even more lighthearted and gag-orientated since then, with the subpar modern art and overly bright/glossy colors really not helping. That said, I know I'll find enjoyment in Super. I love slice of life episodes. It's the actual action and "serious" moments I fear.
"Dragon Ball once became a thing of the past to me, but after that, I got angry about the live action movie, re-wrote an entire movie script, and now I'm complaining about the quality of the new TV anime. It seems Dragon Ball has grown on me so much that I can't leave it alone." - Akira Toriyama on Dragon Ball Super

Whilst it seems very, very unlikely that the show will be announced as a simulcast acquisition for either Funimation or Crunchroll before the season premiere in a few hours, it's worth mentioning that if the show is going to be anywhere near as long as rumoured (circa 100 episodes), it's not at all impossible that the show could be licensed at a later date, and back episodes added in batches. There is certainly precedent for that, as we have seen with One Piece, Naruto and Bleach.

Sorry if this has already been brought up, but is Super really doing adaptation/alternate takes of the recent movies?
When someone tells you, "Don't present your opinion as fact," what they're actually saying is, "Don't present your opinion with any conviction. Because I don't like your opinion, and I want to be able to dismiss it as easily as possible." Don't fall for it.

While I was unsure of it at first, knowing the contents of episode 2, I have confidence in their reBOGging.

That has not necessarily been totally confirmed. For now, it's safer to say that given the (quite small) quantity of vague information we have been given, that may well be the case.
I'd argue that Toriyama's comments on the matter
could be taken to imply that the Anime will span the retelling of the events of the movies in episodic format, or that they could simply be saying that Super will cover additional material which spans around the gaps both before, during and after the events of the two films.
It's honestly too early to speak conclusively either way on the matter. We just don't know enough yet.

If the series takes off you guys think we have a chance of specials starting being made? In the mold of Episode of Luffy, etc... of One Piece. World expansion would be lovely.
Probably being greedy.

I don't watch One Piece so I have no idea what Episode of Luffy is. Care to explain?

They do One Piece specials which basically go back and redo arcs with improved animation in a feature film format.

Oh I thought it had been confirmed as redoing the movies and then going into universe six, sorry I must have misunderstood.

In the case of Episode of Luffy it's a special that tells a side adventure of the heroes with emphasis on Luffy and some elements of his past. There are many others that are remakes from arcs like Episode of Nami. What I hoped isn't the remakes, but new material like 3D2Y which shows Luffy during his training period.

A lot of countries love Dragon Ball.
A world without Dragon Ball is just boring.

Re: feeling greedy
I already feel like I'm getting a treat with episode 2. Feels so impossible. ( ´ ▽ ` ) But it's happening.

Doing Episode of Nami-style remakes of the storylines from the comic would probably be the only way we get new adaptations of them at this point. Retelling those stories in 105 television specials would be interesting, at least.

Heh. it seems Super is the doing the opposite, re doing a feature film into a TV adaption with inferior animation

sintzu wrote:Bullza wrote:Is that all? How long after until it's subbed do you think?
It'll probably take a few hours.
It takes at least two hours to translate an episode. Then at least half an hour to time it, and that's if you're fast. A couple of hours to several depending on how good your editor's skills are, then there might be typesetting, several people quality checking, and it needs to be encoded... Plus this is the first episode so the songs need to be translated... Subtitling an episode properly is hard work, man. (Not that all fansubbers do it properly, though).

Yeah

such a bizarre route to take in my opinion, if that indeed is what's happening.
Regarding specials in general though, who knows? With the success of Battle of Gods and now Resurrection F, I'd hope that they'd continue doing the films. If they do, then to get a weekly TV series and a film every year or two would be more than I ever could have asked for.
Asking for all that, and specials may be a bit greedy, but hey I wouldn't complain
