Give me a couple minutes and I'll figure out how close DB's Moon is to its Earth.Amiable-Akuma wrote:3. Rocketman, - that was one of the most amazing/crazy posts I've ever seen. LOL!
EDIT: OK, guys, I think I've eyeballed it.
DB's Earth viewed from its Moon:

And a screenshot from a space simulator I modified:

Close enough? Yes, no?
Ah, I did not know that. Points to you, sir!Rocketman wrote:Actually, we can guess what DB's Moon is.Endishiki wrote:Well, obviously the Moon was in fact a magical oxygen sphere with a candy-coated rock in the middle.
Note here:
Earth fills the sky of DB's Moon.
In the real world:
Earth is pretty small when viewed from the Moon.
DB's Moon look to be at least twice as close to Earth as our Moon is, probably much closer.
Since it's not raising disasterous tides and its destruction didn't set off an apocalypse on the Earth, the DB Moon is hollow and filled with oxygen.
"I am an Android from the future, destined to absorb 17 and 18. ~<3"
Then DB's Moon is either hollow or made of fluff. That pic from the space simulator is from a Moon I moved to about 25,000 miles above Earth. That's about geosynchronous orbit, where the Moon goes around Earth once a day.landoku wrote:Yes.
At that range, the tides would be a mound of water 500 meters tall (Empire State Building-ish). Actually, that might be close enough that the rock of the continents would bulge towards the Moon noticably.

Much obliged!Pedro The Hutt wrote:At this point the "Whenever you bring real life physics into a fantasy universe debate, God kills a catgirl" picture would come in handy I must say. XD

Only human arrgance would assume that Dragonball's moon has the same relationship to its Earth that ours does.
Of course, there is also no real evidence that the moon, being so damn far away, is able to pull on our oceans. Its as absurd as saying that the moon pulls on people's brains during a full moon: the moon doesnt actually get any closer when its full! If the moon's gravity were strong enough to change the tides, we ought to be floating towards it.

The Moon's gravity doesn't change the tides, it creates them (except for the small tides created by the Sun).Of course, there is also no real evidence that the moon, being so damn far away, is able to pull on our oceans. As for why we don't float towards the Moon, it's because the Moon pulls on the Earth's rock just as hard as it pulls on us. We do 'float' towards the Moon, but the ground moves with us in a small bulge.
Water is liquid, so it moves more freely than the solid matter of the rock and us.
Also, the Moon does get closer to the Earth at some points during its orbit. Note this:

Oh my goodness! Moon coming nearer, help! Anyway DB's moon isn't so far away, Goku could go there with his power pole and he went there in about one minute!
I feel sorry for Future Gohan.
Everyone's like, "What?! What are you doing with two arms?! You tear that off right now, mister!"
Poor guy.
Lol'ed.

Which means the power pole can extend at 1.5 million miles an hour.gohanku wrote:Oh my goodness! Moon coming nearer, help! Anyway DB's moon isn't so far away, Goku could go there with his power pole and he went there in about one minute!

I'm not drunk enough for this thread.
Also, am I the only one who sees the thread's title and pictures Goku taking every rabbit he meets to the Moon?
